Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Ouch!

Maybe he's not super happy with the presser yesterday and getting backed into a corner like that, and this is his way of responding? He kinda looks like do I when my kid is saying "please please please please" and I'm saying "no no no no" and feeling better about that no every time I say it 😬 Be interesting to see what happens next.

Lol they need to push more so hopefully he gives in and can’t escape the headlines in the news

I think best case he's forced to explain why now is not a safe time to open and what the metrics have to be to become safe. Then there is some accountability. As it is, he can hold out as long as he wants because no one knows what the rules are.

Exactly - we're in limbo and that's part of the frustration. Management 101. Set a goal and clear metrics to measure for all stakeholders to work toward. No goal. no metrics. Frustration and wandering in the wilderness.

I believe nobody has been given that discount beyond the original expiration. And lots have tried so I would not waste your time. The best you can get is the $50/day part of the offer.

I concur the person on the phone was referencing general discounts. I would not be surprised to see a general discount as prices for DLR hotels are waaaaaay beyond prices for local hotels and to be competitive during the weekday they need to do that outside of heavy demand seasons. That said if Disney gives a decent onsite benefit, like guaranteed park reservations, a discount might not be seen until next year.

There are some really close hotels to DLR on Harbor if proximity is your goal. And if nice hotel is your goal JW just opened and they’re cheaper than PPH rack rate from what I’m seeing. (And depending how late your trip is the Westin is due to open in Dec last I saw.)
What do you mean by the $50 a day discount?

That was hilarious!! I think he is trolling us at this point. That grin on his face in the screen capture said it all lol!!!

We were at those letters in 2017, and I literally was like, hey, these are JUST like the ones from CA Adventure; this must be where they got the idea to have them! I had NO idea that they were the same letters. 😂

I also think there is a 0% chance that the press conference location had any hint of anything to do with Disney.

At this point I wouldn't put anything past him.

The $50 resort credit per night that was given to those of us who had to keep moving our reservations. I cannot remember when that went into place. I had heard about it here on the Dis, but had no idea I qualified for it until I called to change my reservation for the 4th time. I specifically asked to extend the lower room rate for October and was told no, but that I would still get the $50 a night room credit. I called this week to move a 5th time and didn't even ask about the credit. Our original booking was in June. Hope that helps!

I doubt that Newsom or anyone else involved is even thinking about the origin of the letters. It simply makes a nice backdrop for a California governor to hold a California press conference. It's outside and has an abundance of space.
Sac has many outdoor locations with space where you can park cars and have a pretty press conference...

@momto2 if you book onsite I would definitely ask for this. This part folks who have to rebook are getting. It’s nowhere near what you were saving but at least it would be something.

I was told the $50 would be carried over until the end of the year for those of us who were forced to cancel and have continued to rebook.

There‘s no way that Newsom did this on accident. The day after Disney publicly pleaded with him to open Disneyland he goes to the DCA letters for a presser and doesn’t even mention Disney. Come on! As many people have said he is trolling us hard. I want to come back to Disneyland so bad but this guy is now resorting to acts like this. It is kinda funny but I’m more pissed of at Newsom than anything else right now.

Thanks. I did talk to Disney Travel today. My most recent trip would have been 9-28 to 10-2. They have a new discount that just came out today. It runs Oct 16 to Dec 31. I was able to get that and thanks to you, I will get the $50 a night credit from the hotel when we check in. Thanks!

We just booked two dates in October. Maybe I should call again to try for the discount! Thanks for the heads up!
