Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Thank you so much! I don't think that you can do room requests using DVC, but I'm going to try! Also that is exactly the information I needed for the coffee pot, and thanks for the bonus info- the picture of the fridge! We aren't going to have a car so now I need to figure out how to get half-n-half, yogurt, other breakfast stuff- and WINE! Thanks again for your help!
Unfortunately, with the value villas, requests are not permitted because of the small number of villas. You'll get what you get.

We rented points. I had asked the member to request close to lobby. Also put it in when I did online check in and we got our request. Had hoped for second floor but got the top floor. (Timon - AKV-kidani).

There are no "value" studios @ Kidani. All the value studios at Jambo are close to lobby. I don't know if it was luck of the draw but I booked two value studios and got partial Savannah views on both of them.

We booked a value one bedroom renting points from David's and I used touring plans for that one also. We got a partial Savannah view.

We are not in a value. We have a deluxe studio. Our second rental. We did Jambo house last time and loved it. If the Mara was open, I would rather be over there but since it isn’t we are enjoying Kidani. We got refillable mugs and no lines for refills so far. Buses have been awesome with almost no wait on either end. Today we did HS. We were out at bus stop by 9:05 and they had 3 buses within 10 mins come by.

I know no one has a crystal ball, but is anyone thinking that the restaurants at Jambo will be open this summer?

I do not see them opening the restaurants or shops at Jambo until they open the hotel side of the resort. there just aren’t enough people there staying on the DVC floor.

Not sure if this would be contractually allowed, but I wonder if WDW has considered temporarily opening Jambo House (or one of the other currently closed deluxe resorts) as DVC only in order to eat up the surplus of DVC points that are currently out there.

I think the DVC portion is open already. I was able to book there for this summer.

I realize that - spitballing that they could open the rest of the resort up for DVC points

In order for rooms owned by Disney to be used by DVC owners on points, DVC needs to pay for them...and they do that by renting DVC rooms to cash guests,

So, given WDPR is already having low occupancy, it wouldn’t make sense to open the rest of Jambo for DVC as they’d get nothing out of it.

Here at Jambo House now and I will say the two times we took the bus last night it has been very nice. Have a beautiful view of the Savannah which was nice to relax on during the afternoon/feeding time. Going to Magic Kingdom today so eager to see how the bus situation is for rope drop!

Please report back. I'm at Jambo next month and debating between driving to TTC or bus to MK. Let me know if you have to catch bus at Kidani or you can grab buses at Jambo.

You don't have to go to Kidani to catch a bus. The bus service at Jambo will probably be the best you'll ever experience due to the extremely limited occupancy, yet they're still sending buses frequently. That was our experience the last week of October anyway.

I had similar experience in mid-November. I own at AKV and stay frequently. Buses from Jambo now are some of the best experiences I have had with them over the years. Didn’t wait more than ten minutes and was always able to board.

Yes the bus has been pretty good so far for the three times we’ve used it. Getting on at Jambo and it’s very empty. We rope dropped MK this morning and we were the only two on the bus. That was so nice! Coming back was a different story as someone got on at Kidani without a mask on but we ran off as soon as we could. Hopefully that was an isolated incident since we really don’t want to drive to the parks.

Does anyone who has stayed at Jambo recently know if the Jambo gym is open? I’ll be there starting on Christmas Day. I plan to work out in the mornings and would hate for my neighbors to hear me grunting amd groaning through Insanity. LOL
