Poll: What would you replace Hall of Presidents with?

I love CoP but it could use an overhaul. That last scene has become so dated and it never made sense to jump so far anyway - I'd say either restore it to the original 1960s scene and keep it as a time cabsule or redo it to have larger time jumps ending in the not-too-distant future. It really needs a fifth scene but I don't think they could do that without tearing it down and rebuilding it completely.

You can't deny that everytime you think of it that song gets stuck in your head though... it's a great... big...

Nixon was never technically impeached. He resigned before they could of course, but still. There are other impeached presidents still included in the HOP. I don't think they should eliminate anyone in the big scene with them all together, but they should not have modern politicians making the speech and instead defer to Lincoln or one of the non-controversial presidents. Lincoln is pretty much the most non-controversial to most people.

I like the Muppets idea. The show is great, but doing it from the windows can clog up the walkways.

I've never had an urge to go in to Hall of Presidents and I can see where the political climate isn't very conducive to keeping it.

I think it is already partially used at The American Adventure via his animatronic?

I like the idea of a walk through. Maybe just have the last scene set and people can just walk close to the stage and get pics?
I know a lot of people use these attractions as a way to relax and have something to watch, great for when it's raining or too hot

I believe a walk through was the original idea Walt had for a Hall of Presidents (thus the word "Hall") - it was to be part of Liberty Square that would have run parallel to Main St in Disneyland (later the idea was turned into Edison Square and then later dropped all together).

THough, this was before animatronics so they would have just been wax figures of the presidents

Yeah, FDR is another generally universally liked president. I'd say you need to stick with Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, or FDR, though Washington does have detractors. Lincoln I think is pretty much the safest president to honor - history has judged him well, plus he was Walt's favorite.

Teddy would be a good one - though he is already in the American Adventure ...

Because the American Adventure covers the same history and does it better.

right - which is why I would be ok if they changed it - but also why if it stays it needs to differentiate it from a general history of America

Since the building that houses HoP resembles Independence Hall, it might be interesting to do something about the history leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the start of the Revolution.

Since I was curious, others might be as well, just to the footprint of the Hall of Presidents and what scale attraction could replace it, if they went a more significant change.

From this image from easywdw you can see it's pretty decent size - not as big as something like Small World or Pirates or anything, but at least as big as Peter Pan, Pooh, Buzz, etc. - so definitely could fit a dark ride there

If they’re going to get rid of an attraction, they need to start with the Line With No Ride.

Really good point, Epcot is about the real world which includes different countries culture and history. One thing that I didn't even give much thought to is the fact that the Magic Kingdom IS NOT supposed to be grounded in anything outside of fantasy (like you said). It completely revolves around Disney's movies, shows and characters. HoP feels even more out of place when you take that into consideration. I also forgot about American Adventure, that area could be ramped up more if we want to really go all out on historical events.

Except for Guardians, FEA, 3 Amigos, etc.

You know what I mean, world showcase = representation of different countries and their cultures. America has it's own section, you could always concentrate more on historical events there if needed. MK is mostly centered around younger children and the majority is made up of movie / character related area's. It's special in that aspect and I feel like giving out a history lesson may be somewhat out of place for it. Just my personal opinion of course.

I think there's a lot of knee-jerk hysteria going on with HoP that will die down in about 3 weeks if you get my meaning. I personally love it. I preferred the pre-reveal movie about Andrew Jackson though. Dude held what was essentially an inauguration kegger on the White House lawn - and the country went right on keeping on. if that doesn't give you hope about the future of this country I don't know what will. Please don't remove HoP - it is a must-see for my family, sometimes twice each trip.

As for some of the other ideas;

• There was a rumor of the Muppets being moved to the 4-D CaptainEo theater in EPCOT. LOVE this idea! Sadly it does not appear to have legs as of yet. Any time you can add Muppets I am in favor of.
• Personal aside; for YEARS I tried to take my family to see the American Adventure in EPCOT. I had not seen it, my DW had and decided it was so boring that it did not warrant the sizeable time out of our day. She'd rather go back to the hotel if she was going to take a nap. FINALLY we saw it on our last trip. Yes, it was time-consuming, yes the show was ambitious, inspiring and impressive, -but- my DW was right, that show is a snoozer - one and done. HoP would be a fantastic fit here though. I really don't think there needs to be both shows.
• What should replace HoP (assuming HoP moves to EPCOT - which only I am advocating)? I think MK really needs a trackless. The new Beauty and the beast would be good (though MK has its fill of B&tB with Enchanted Tales and BoG already), or something like Mystic Manor but themed for American History in some way would also be great.
