Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

We stayed at the Yacht Club from Feb 28th to March 5th in a garden view room. The rooms that we had in October and January were both fairly close to the main elevator. This trip was different. We were just about as far from the lobby as you can get without being at the Dolphin. The only good thing was that we were on the second floor and only used the elevator when we checked in and checked out.

two queen beds
armchair and extra chair
tub/shower combination

The room was located at the end of the resort, near to the Dolphin resort. It was adjacent to room 2001, which is considered the farthest room. It did not have a connecting door or sofa bed, which made it a little roomier. Because of the long walk to the lobby we mostly used the fire exit door that was close to our room and opened out to the marina area whenever we left the room.

This is the view to the right. The fire exit near the quiet pool is right there and is the door people would use when taking dogs outside or if you want to go to the quiet pool or laundry room. We didn't hear any dogs barking from our room, but we did see dogs at the resort.

There was a pond right outside the room. The Dolphin resort is on the other side of the trees.

It wasn't a bad room, but the long walk got old fast. We changed a few of our plans because it just took to long to walk anywhere except DHS. That was shorter than normal. :)

I posted a copy to the Yacht Club room view thread:

We are booked at beach club in June. 4 adults, one child. We have standard view. Any suggestions on room requests?

Do you want a balcony? What floor; First - 4th floor(s), near elevators.

There are only about 50% of the rooms that have a balcony and within that number many are Juliet style (Standing room only).

Approximately half the standard view rooms face the main pool and the other half face the parking lot. And approximately half the rooms have a full balcony and half of them have a standing balcony. We usually request a full balcony and a nice view. :)

Is this true of both dvc and cash rooms?? I didn’t realize there were so many without balconies! You have me reconsidering the room request I put in.

What's the chance that a YC garden view room DOES NOT have a sleeper sofa? Although there are only 4 in my family, I really need the sleeper sofa for my kids. I will put in a request for that but want to know what's my chance of not getting it. TIA.

While nobody knows the actual percentage we do know that not 100% of the YC rooms have a day bed.

In your case just make sure that a day bed is your 1st request and check again once you get your room assignment by calling to confirm. Also don't make any requests during online check-in as those selections will override requests on your reservation.

You can also stop by the Front desk to double check when you arrive at the resort.

The Beach Club villas have balconies for all the units. It is only the Beach Club resort that has 50% full balconies. So if you booked a BCV, whether by cash or points, you will have a full balcony. :)
Little FYI for walking to Epcot... we always preferred taking the little “secret” path on the right that goes along the water & under the bridge to BWI. It is now a designated smoking area. Don’t know when that happened & don’t remember reading about it before. But it’s up the hill for us from now on. :(
We also used to take this shortcut until they made it a dedicated smoking area. We stopped using this route when we were there Feb 28th - Mar 5th, so it must have been some time before then that they moved it to this area. The line for the Skyliner had gotten very long, so I guess they had to move the smokers to the shortcut. :(

Very excited to have booked our first stay at BC! We usually stay at one of the mods (CSR and POFQ are our favorites) but splurged on BC for this trip since we had to cancel last year's trip that was supposed to celebrate our oldest graduating and turning 18. So now we'll be there the very beginning of June, right before he turns 19.

I booked a garden/woods view room and will definitely be making the day bed our #1 request - with our oldest at about 6'6 and our youngest at 5'10, they do not share beds well anymore (we used to take an air mattress when we stayed at the mods). Besides that, I'm excited about being able to walk to both HS and EP and having the Boardwalk for evening entertainment.

Any rumors about when Cape May Cafe might reopen? As I looked at a summary of the restaurants open in the Epcot Resort area, it looks a little skimpy.

Yacht Club stay for June 19-24. Several questions-Are Stormalong Bay hours still 10am-10pm? Does it have a capacity, and are people often turned away? Is the quiet pool still available after hours? Is Hurricane Hannah's now serving food again? Do you often see children in Martha's Vineyard or Ale and Compass Lounge? Thanks so much!

All the pools have a hard close time. Not sure if it is extended for right now or not.

The pool is busy but I don't think people are being turned away often, just on high use days.

Hurricane Hanna's has always served food, the grill is not open so no hot food, just cold. The cocktail cast will get you a burger and fries or a chicken sandwich and fries through the Cape May kitchen if you want. You could always try for a walk-up at Beaches & Cream too.

There are always children in Martha's, not sure about A&C. But there are only like 4 tables in MV. It seems a lot of people order to go from there (which you can right now), they open at 4pm and serve burgers and chicken sandwiches along with some other good choices. The menu stand is normally in the Beach Club lobby by the Cape May entrance.

That was the one issue I had with my Beach Club stay. I was in Standard and got 4727 which is a corner King room literally up against the YC side. The view was absolutely fantastic (at least out the one window I could see SAB and the Boardwalk, the other was the infamous ugly roof) but man that walk to the elevator was really annoying.

This time for YC I am booked Water View and was sure to pick a room close to the elevator for my Touring Plans room request.
