At what age did you stop using a stroller for your child at the Disney parks?

If it makes a difference I have boys and there are no special needs.

I realize if the boys walk we will probably need to take an afternoon break.

My daughter is 6 and we had a stroller on our January trip, probably was good as we racked up 20,000 steps nearly every day. She did walk a lot, but was nice if we knew we had a long ways to the next thing we wanted to go to, saved her legs and allowed us to walk at a much faster pace.

We (my son and I mostly, sometimes my Mama and brother) started going when my son was just shy of 3 (he is 40 now) and never took our own stroller to WDW. We would start the day off with him walking. Some days, we rented a stroller toward the end of the day, most times we would just go back to the room if he got too tired for words but he mostly walked. He hated strollers and after he started walking, it was pretty hard to get him to get into one and stay. Since it was mostly just he and I, we would go at his pace. That meant lots of stops to jump of benches or look at flowers or birds or butterflies or whatever caught his attention. He was good about holding my hand or some part of my clothes. If my Mama was with us, chances were we were pushing her in a wheelchair so he would occasionally sit in her lap.

We always stayed on site, back then the resorts on property were the MK ones so that was where we stayed so going back to the resort for a nap (mostly me) or some pool time was pretty easy. I just let his moods, wants and needs dictate the pace and what we did. He didn't mind standing in line, I did end up having to hold/carry him a lot of times and if we were on a bus or monorail, he was sleeping.

We stopped using a stroller when our youngest were about 6 or 7.

But we also always returned to where we were staying to swim at the pool, and that gave them time to rest and re-energize.

It's a lot of walking and little legs just can't keep up.

Yup - same. 6 was probably last year we had one and I agree with your reasoning. We also always do the midday break- kids and adults alike appreciate some time to chill or swim and give the legs a break.

My daughter is 8 and we are getting a stroller when we are there next week. She’s small and loses steam plus I love the cup holders and place to store a mini cooler. But this will likely be our last trip with a stroller. FWIW - we rent from Kingdom Strollers and get the city mini - she is under the weight requirement.

On our last trip the kids were 5 and 3.5 and we pushed an empty double stroller for most of the day. The kids really only used it to sit and have a snack and to walk back to Bay Lake Tower from MK. Even then, the kids mostly preferred to walk. We will not bother to bring one on our next trip.

Really depends on the kids. Others have used them longer.

We used a stroller during the trip when my son was 4, and it was wonderful. He didn't nap in it, but it was nice for him to be able to relax when his legs got tired... and it was especially nice during parades - he could sit to view instead of stand.

We decided to leave the stroller at home for our last trip when we was 6. I was nervous and was prepared to rent one, but he did so good! We walked between 10-15 miles a day, and he didn't complain one time. We made sure to take plenty of breaks and he got nice warm relaxing baths each night. I was super proud of him!

Our last stroller trip was when my daughter was 7. We got a lot of 'looks' but I just ignored them We went 9 days straight, park open to close so a stroller was necessary, especially at night as she'd fall asleep on the way to the bus and there is no way I could have carried her. An average day for us is 15,000+ steps.

We never used a stroller at WDW. We chose to wait until our son was 7 years old to make our first family trip. I understand why some choose to go with younger children, but this was what we chose to do. When he got tired, we took breaks or headed back to the room. Everyone was happy this way, and we never had to drag a stroller or bags of stuff on buses and through the parks, nor were we tempted to remain in the parks longer than our son wanted to stay.

8 years old - luckily she was in the 20th growth percentile so she looked younger up until then.

Our last trip(2019) the airline chopped our stroller in half so we had to rent one. Great for naps and snacks. This week was our first time without a stroller! 7 & 5. We made jokes about wanting to buy one at the gift shop and even met a dad who bought one off FB marketplace that was delivered to the hotel because his 5 year old needed it.

At one point we had an 18 month old, 2 yr old, 4 yr old and 5 yr old. The 4 and 5 yr old walked because we were not dealing with 2 double strollers. Sometimes the 2 yr old did get out and walk because she was tired of sitting, so the other two took turns taking her spot. After the first 4 kids, we added 2 more, so by the time the 4th oldest was 4, he was kicked out as well. We must have let the last 2 (who are 9 and 10 now) use a stroller longer than the first 4 because they complain about walking much more than the others ever did.

Our last trip was 2017. My boys were 5 and almost 3. We spent 5 days in the parks, open to close, with a long break in the middle of each day. We didn't bring a stroller. Needed to rent one for one evening when little fell asleep on the bus on the way to the park. Beyond that, they did incredibly well without one.
