So how spoiled are you.

Me, apparently I am. I'm up here in Mackinaw City( not on the island)and I can say I miss any 1 bedroom at All DVC Resorts.
Lack of SPACE, a kitchen, living room , washer&dryer😭. And My Balcony 😭😭😭 makes me appreciate my DVC more.
I'm planning a new trip to Disney as I sit on the bed (no other place to sit).

So the trip that DH and I are taking this November started off as the cheapest I could find just so I could go and use our APs one more time since we're out of DVC points..

I booked us at the Swan under a AP discount.....then I found a no-view room at BWI.....then I found a woods view at WL....

now mind you, each of the moves was an increase in price...

then DH asked innocently enough...."for this new room at WL, does it have a couch so I can drink wine and watch tv in the evenings"...my reply was, "no, this is a regular room with 2 queen beds, 2 chairs and a tv...sorry"..

then he says...."so you've spoiled me with DVC, can you find us a room with a living room, so I can sit on the couch and watch tv and drink wine? Oh, and where are we going to put our leftover Via Napoli pizza and I need an oven to warm it up.."

God love this high maintenance man of mine.....

so, then I booked us at a 1-br @ BRV.....he was totally happy....

and then I found us a 1-br @ VGF....and I've blown the budget on this "cheap trip" and now I'M HAPPY we're staying at the GF!

WOOT!

We are so spoiled! We started staying in 1BR last year and I just don’t see us going back. Hard to stay in a regular hotel anywhere now too. Love my DVC!!

We are taking a driving trip in Utah this fall, and DH and I don’t know how we’ll manage staying in regular hotels night after night. Hopefully we’ll be too tired to want to sit on a couch and relax!

Be careful as that still is sometimes not enough, a pixie dust upgrade to a 1 bed lake view at BLT is what got me to buy my contract ;)
I get it.....getting moved from CBR to AKL 2 summers ago is what got us hooked up deluxes and eventually the DVC contract. I had politely complained about how horrible the CBR bus service was and they offered to move us.....we used to be fine at Pop, POR, or POFQ......but that free upgrade got Disney a lot of our money.....

Driving trips across the western states are awesome with Worldmark! We’ve done a few … staying 1 - 3 nights at each location along the path.

As for Utah, we’ve enjoyed WM at St. George, Bear Lake and Midway. Really loved the Midway location: the 2BR unit layout is basically master suites on either end of the unit with kitchen/living space in the middle; the gorgeous “Swiss Mountain” view from the balcony; and the Homestead Crater (hot springs with a giant twist!).

1 bedroom, space and balcony. You just become use (spoil) to it. For families, I cannot imagine just a standard hotel room, anymore.

Thanks, I’ll make note of these - we’re driving the southern Utah National Parks loop but hopefully will get up to these areas someday too!

Timeshare, in general, spoiled us quickly with large accommodations, kitchen, laundry, etc.

We've never been "hotel room" people. Even our very first family vacation with a toddler and one on the way (three nights in Toledo of all places) was in a Residence Inn-style place with a separate bedroom, kitchen, etc. For us, timeshare was a no-brainer--and we're those people who don't understand why DVC Members prefer studios, because to us those are just glorified hotel rooms.

In fact, it's become a bit of an inside joke between DW and I. We'll be sitting in the living room of our unit, one on the couch and the other in a nice comfy chair, reading. Out of nowhere, one of us will say: "Hotels, huh?" As in: "I know that people do that, but I can't for the life of me figure out why."

Just can't do a studio to be honest. Kids are all grown and no grandkids (yet) and we just like the space. I'd rather take two shorter trips or buy more points than shoehorn into a studio. Would I have had this attitude 15 or 20 years ago? Absolutely not. But, at this stage in life it's time to enjoy and enjoy it with space.

While I certainly understand the economics of stretching points as far as possible, and the potential to experience more deluxe resorts by limiting point expenditure, I also reel when I read all the effort and drama and nail-biting that goes into trying to book some studios, even at 11 months. While I still haven't planted that money tree in my backyard, I put significant value on my time and sanity and really can't fathom the effort and stress that some people put in to finding studios sometimes, especially when a 1 bedroom villa might be available at the same resort at 7 months or even less. There's also the freedom to book later and (almost) spontaneously depending on your preferred travel season.

We prefer them for the points (more economical) and honestly for just the two of us the extra space the couch (vs a second bed) gives is more than enough. We did 17 days in studios in late June / early July and were more than happy with the space provided.
