****Official July 2021 Thread****

Would some be so kind as to give me a very simple and straight-forward rundown of rope drop??? I look through the threads and it's just so sporadic.

I'm looking for the following:

-What time to get to each park
-What time do they actually let you go on rides
-If walking from BLT to MK, what time do they let you go through security there?

I just want to figure out how early to get to buses when necessary although only time I need to really do that is Animal Kingdom.

What I’ve seen being here this week:
AK and DHS let you through the entrance 60 minutes prior to official opening. You queue for a ride you want behind a rope in a designated area. 30 minutes prior you are moved into the queue snd the ride starts running. At DHS the rides for certain are TOT, RNRC, MFSR, SDD and MMRR. There may be others but that’s what we’ve seen or done for sure. At AK it’s FOP. The others may let you queue but won’t start until opening or very close to it.
MK is a “hard” rope drop meaning you’re held in the hub area until official opening time. Then you go to the ride you want. For those 3 RD, we were at the bus stop 90 minutes prior to opening. At AKL, every day except today the buses were there anywhere from 60-80 minutes ahead. Making the first bus is vital if you want headliners, especially for FOP.
We did not do RD at Epcot so We m no help there!

This was the line behind us at 7:15 am. Show him that!

That pic definitely cements us skipping rope drop to sleep in some and stay late. My autistic son has no business being in that, hopefully DAS will help even things out. This is certainly shaping up to be the strangest trip we'll have ever taken, at least schedule wise, and we went last September during full blown restrictions.

Sitting at MCO waiting for my flight home. All the advice above about being at the bus stop 1.5 hrs ahead of official open is spot on. Especially for AK because FOP is the only ride running early. If that’s not your goal then I’d advise not messing with the RD crowds because rides like the safari and Everest were walk on well after opening. I’d also advise having water and a small fan. It’s hot. You’ll be standing with a bunch of other people who are also very hot. You’ll most likely have just walked very quickly to whatever line you’re lining up for so your heart rate is going to get up there and active sweat mode. It’s a little unpleasant but if you prepare you can make it a little less unpleasant.

I am sitting at MCO waiting on my flight too. It’s been delayed twice already. 😢 I would have rather had more time at WDW than to be delayed here for several more hours…but oh well… I agree with what you said. FOP was really the only ride with a crazy line. In fact, we rode Everest 5 times in a row with only a 10 minute wait probably around 3:00 pm. It’s very hot out…definitely need water and a fan !!

We are delayed, too! We snuck to MK this morning for two hrs then rushed back to the hotel to shower quick before check out. Wish we would have known we would be sitting here because I would have gone to get lunch at Kona or something!!

Make that three of us here at MCO! 😂
We’re delayed as well- only about 30 minutes though. We also got a lot accomplished at AK once we knocked out FOP early.

Good luck to the three of you waiting at MCO. Not trying to be negative, but I find if I know what to expect I'm better prepared. What did you find the most challenging during your trip?

Finally made it home! 😊
I think the biggest challenge for us was the crowds. They were everywhere. And it was overwhelming for us and often the CMs. We are July veterans. We know the heat snd even holiday crowds. This was just too many people and not enough for them to do. In DHS, people were just sitting in the tunnel between Muppets and Galaxy’s Edge. Getting shade? Waiting for a BG? No clue, but it was that way every day.

Glad you made it home! The crowds are my biggest concern as well. We've done June heat, but I'm sure July is even worse.
