Disney Dream - Restart Content (initial cruises)

I think I read that they removed the wave phones from all rooms and now solely rely on their app for communication.
I wasn't talking about the wave phones. I was talking about the landline phone in each stateroom

Yes to keep people from crowding the exits onto Castaway. I actually prefer it! I’ll sit on my balcony for 20 minutes and then go stroll off then stand on the stairs in a crowd for 10 minutes. :-)
No kidding. I'm glad that you prefer it. I don't.

Realistically its not much different than actually lining up except you have a digital space in line. Yes that means some people can grab a spot before they are actually ready I guess though.

Be interesting to hear but I suspect after the first 30 mins or so its not an issue. A fair way possibly to do is it to have everyone who wants to rope drop the island just go in to queue and then it places based on seniority Concierge, Platinum, Gold, ect.

Be interesting to hear feedback as more people experience it and we get vlogs on it as well.

Wait it actually works? What are the speeds on it? Would it be good enough for voip or no?

4g speeds when on/near land. good for browsing the net, sending big files by email.
In the middle of the ocean it's still good for WhatsApp, short emails, text.
you won't see the same speeds you get with your wifi at home but does its job fine.
I'd say speeds are similar to what you get when using 4g data.

Wait did you use this when doing a Eastern or Southern caribbean cruise or your WBPC and it worked when at sea on sea days? Again knowing that middle of ocean might only be email and text based communication.

I wonder how you get this to work at sea. All hotspots require a cell signal to piggy back on. At sea you'd be using the ship's cellular repeater which is more expensive than the ship's Wi-Fi

No idea. All I can say is that it's very weak when in the middle of the ocean, far from an island.. still managed to send emails and texts. but no browsing.

Last I used it was on the 2020 WBPC...before that in the summer of 2019 Southern Caribbean... I remember using it in Martinique to wirelessly print something at a shop from my phone. It's not THE best thing in the world, but it does its job...been a life-saver for me so many times (us as a family too, it's great for road trips)... before Covid I had the monthly plan for a couple of years despite not needing it at home.. I used to travel a lot.

I like crowds. I don't like sitting in my room. I find people interesting. I'd rather line up and interact with people. That's life.

Seriously, you don't even want to know. You probably already have at least 3 (I have 5).
I'm down to just 2 because I give them away before I even leave the ship. (Is this your first time on a Disney cruise? Here, take this - no, PLEASE TAKE THIS!) I don't leave them in the stateroom because I figure that will only increase the existing supply that I hope runs out.
