I am kind of tired of people.

lol...can you imagine people doing these ridiculous hissy fits during the dark days of WW2 - when everything was rationed and nothing was easily available? This chick was probably a great grandchild of someone eons more resilient and emotionally sturdier. Too many people today act like spoiled brats - and this society supports it.

OP: I am INCREDIBLY tired of people these days - and I don't even work with the public. Stay strong - I constantly fill out WM surveys thanking our local team for all they do. I love WM curbside pickup - you guys do such a great job.

Exactly. I will say this -I was never a huge shopper at Walmart(or really anywhere for that matter!). But since covid hit I've taken advantage of the curbside pickup and they're doing a great job ...most of the workers have been extremely friendly and positive. They really have stepped up -along with the OP. So thank you!

In high school/college I worked in a grocery store. People were nasty back then as well, but I do believe it has been elevated twofold, in general over the past decade and again the current events going on. As well, I also have a woman I once loved deeply and as the mother of my children still care deeply for her and her well being that has been at Lowes for 15 years I think working up from cashier through just about every front position and several floor positions to several different supervisory positions now. The stories she tells me...

The general public needs to understand, these people you (the general public you) attack in every instance of you going shopping have nothing whatsoever to do about what goes on with the amount of help (no registers open) to corporate policies (self checkout only) to inventory control to supply problems. There is nothing that poor innocent girl you just put into tears (the 5th customer to do this today...) has any control over with her duties of tallying up your order and taking the payment for your order.

People have disgusted me most of my life. It's nothing new or recent.

Just placed 2 massive orders on Instacart. They have been my go-to since March 2020. Only thing they were out of today was the no-name grape tomatoes. Substituted with the higher end ones, instead.

OP - I mutter "I hate people" many, many, many times a day. Everyone has just lost their minds.

Anyone can make a home made lunchable with much better quality meats and cheese. We are not seeing the shortages here in the Midwest. I love shopping at Sams. You can always get what u need and do not have to go back very often. Their fruit and veggies are amazing and prices can not be beat. I do use curb side pickup from Kroger’s and have been very happy so far. Thx for all u do.

I tried online shopping when the pandemic first started. It just took too long. I can go into Aldi and get out in 20 minutes. Shopping online took well in excess of an hour. I never had an issue with substitution but I am not brand loyal. The issue I had was with my groceries arriving smelling of cigarette smoke.
I ordered all of our groceries online for curbside pickup from the beginning of the pandemic until I was vaccinated. I was so glad to have that option. However as soon as I was vaccinated I started shopping for myself in the store. My primary problem was all of our groceries always smelled like cigarette smoke. Seems likely the bins of shoppers bags are kept in a break room where people would smoke. How else could it be so consistently smelling of cigarettes smoke.

In all the orders we've done never smelled like cigarette smoke. Odd that both of you had that. You shopping at the same location? lol or getting the same Instacart person?

But really I would do what the other poster mentioned shop elsewhere but I can say we've not necessarily purchased a curbside pickup from the same location and we've never had that issue.

And I didn't think people could smoke inside much especially at a grocery store like Publix.

Regional chain: Mejiers
It wasn't an Instacart. it was the store employees. I've never seen anyone smoke inside a grocery store either. But grocery store employees can smoke on their breaks. That's why I suspect the break room is by where they stockpile the pickup orders.

I used to live in a state with a Meijers, great store. I wouldn't have hesitated to bring this to the attention of the online shopping folks. (Local) Not acceptable.

My sample size is small for grocery deliver. 1 delivery, 100% smelled like cigarette smoke.

While I never tried grocery deliver again, not because of the cigarette smoke smell, I have used UberEats every other month or so for the past two years.

For those deliveries I have only had 1 out of about 12 delivered that reeked, but that one was marijuana not cigarette.

Totally justified rant by the customer, what with you charging $2 for a $1.29 Home Depot door stop. :duck:

But for the record - we don't charge them anything for Warranty services. It was just a matter of the part not being immediately available.

As my husband recently pointed out...(after watching someone go kinda nuts at Costco)
No one is going to write books about folks now being the greatest generation.

...And that was his wisdom for the month. :thumbsup2

I love this.

(((HUGS))) It was Oldest’s first ever experience behind the wheel today at the mall parking lot before it opened and gardener thought it was funny and recorded us. Once I noticed, me and Oldest switched. I got us out of there. Oldest felt so embarrassed and that it was their fault. Way to ruin a teen’s confidence, Dude. Reassured Oldest they did nothing wrong.

I’ve learned over the years people are just mean and purposely mean spirited. Just keep spreading kindness OP because at this point we can only control ourselves. If someone is irrational and mad, we walk away. We don’t even engage anymore, it’s not worth it. Even though I did want to confront the guy recording us for invasion of privacy. Yet everyone has a camera nowadays. So it’s all out of our hands.

Where in the Midwest do you live? I am smack dab in the middle of the Midwest(Omaha), and there are plenty of shortages.

I don't think it is legal in any State to smoke inside a business. Hasn't been in many years. Even if employees smoke on their break, that bags should not smell. I don't know why the items you get smell like smoke. I would definitely call and talk to them about it. The company that I work for, you can't even go outside and smoke around the building, you have to be in your car.

If you take a new, 2-liter bottle of Coke, regardless of the condition of the label, shake it up hard enough, and the bottle top flies off, what do you think is going to come spewing out? Cotton candy? Rainbows? Blue birds? Of course, what's inside is going to explode over everthing and everyone.

The same is true with people. When they get shaken up and put under enough pressure, regardless of what they may outwardly portray, what's truly inside that person is going to come spewing out. It's then that you find out what about a person's character.

This isn't the first time that poster has said that. Have no clue where they live. I'm not far from you in KC and goodness the shortages are abound and have been for a while. It seems to vary on what the shortages are and some are shorter lived than others. A few months past that poster was saying they were having no issues getting their basement renovated and their food pricing was stable when at least in my area oh that was further from what was occurring. To keep saying such a broad statement about a specific region when there are so many news stories and individuals stories to say otherwise...it's crazy talk. Wherever they live is utopia untouched it would appear from the ongoing issues of the pandemic but it's certainly isn't in my area of the midwest.

I can't say I've noticed lunchables but I haven't attempted to find them or been by that area of the frigerated areas. I did notice a few weeks back breakfast sausage was hard to find (had to go to another store and pay more than double the cost of Walmart for the same item) and my husband couldn't find beef hot dogs 2 weeks ago except for the Great Value brand. But I don't know if that is still an issue.

I noticed the lunchables thing b/c I bought them for my boys as "special" lunches this summer between grocery runs, since I walk past Target every day with my spouse (so some days I walked in).

It was kinda crazy - some days, there were none...and then, you'd go in 2 days later and there were 2 types, but only 2 types...and then a few days later, none again, and then a few days later, 1 type, but different than the 2 before...

We knew they were short, but we couldn't decide if the deliveries were one type on purpose, and we'd see the leftovers of one buy and then the 2nd delivered...or if they just shipped what they had, which was sometimes 1 type and sometimes 2...

I didn't contact the store about the smoke smell, because quite honestly I was just grateful to have them shop for me. And now that I'm vaccinated I shop for myself. I only brought up that I had smokey smelling groceries because of previous poster mentioned it as well
