Insane Wait Times

I just saw that the standby wait time for Rise of the Resistance was 245 minutes. Over 4 hours!!! That is insane. There were never wait times like this prior to Genie+ and LL. Why would anyone wait that long for any ride? It used to be with FP+, cast members would alternate between the FP+ people and the standby to keep both lines moving. Now, it seems like all Genie+ and LL people are allowed in while keeping the standby lines at a standstill.

Yes, LL is causing crazy long wait times. I was in The World the week it went live. The difference was immediately noticeable. Even though the overall attendance didn't change the wait times went up considerably.

It's the busiest week of the year and Rise is the most popular ride in Disney World. That's compounded by the fact that Studios is big-attraction focused. This is also the first holiday season since Rise went from reservations to a standby line.

Flight of Passage used to regularly get 4 hour waits during busy weeks before Genie+/LL. Cast members still let people in from both lines at the same ratio as before.

Rise didn't have a standby queue until just before ILL was introduced. We have no data to go on to compare it to before and after. It was only virtual queue before that, and we know how many people complained about not getting a VQ slot.

One of the reasons was due to an extended downtime. They pretty much only put LL guests on the attraction until they had cleared up the backlog of people. Still long waits, but the 245 minutes was because the ride was down for a longer time than expected. I do think Disney needs to retrain CM's on how to manage both a LL and the standby queue. We were there 3 weeks ago and did not see too many of the CM's actually controlling/managing the two lines.

I remember 300 minute waits for FOP in the fastpass days, and this is the week between Christmas and New Years.

When I used the Genie+/LL in November - most rides we were held at the merge just like FP+. Only a couple did we walk right through, one being Remy very late at night and not crowded and there is no SB line.

People have mentioned the insane lines for FOP when it opened and I remember reading about crazy wait times (up to six hours if I remember correctly) when Frozen opened up too. I couldn't fathom waiting that long for ANY ride.

The wait times right now aren't that much different from what they were in early and mid-December.

Yikes! With Fast Pass+ and avid rope dropping I have never waited anywhere near these times. 20 minutes has always been my limit. Yes, I know, some rope dropping mornings had me waiting 45 minutes to get in to the park, but that was not precious park time. That was not in the hot sun. That strategy always had me walking off FoP just as the park was scheduled to open. I wish they would just scrap this genie stuff and go back to letting me plan my park days two months ahead like the good old days.
