Monday March 14th... busier than it was on Saturday or Sunday. Slightly warmer weather.

LL averaged instant to just over a half hour return times on the weekend... today 2-3 hours for most of the popular rides. Lots of rides broke down. Even the single rider line at RSR was nearly two hours because it was down so long!!!

The mobile food orders were crazy - 3 hours... ughhh!

3 hours out for your window or 3 hours after you say you’re here? Aren’t most places available for walk up ordering now to get around that?

3 hours out for your window for places like Flo's. Yes, walk up ordering was available but line was huge! Checked Flo's a couple of hours later, and window was down to less than an hour. Not sure how all of that works.... just very long windows for everything compared to the day before!

The wait times describes were only previously seen during Christmas and New Years. I think there is no question that worker availability (and maybe cost cutting) is limiting capacity for rides, entertainment and food. Chapek even said so during the last earnings call.

There is the "SoCal discounted tickets", and those aren't usable on the weekends, so that is probably adding to the issues on the weekdays.
also, I have seen many times where Monday seems to be worse than the weekends.

oh, and touring plans agrees in the historical section, it was 5's during the weekend, and 9 on monday.

are any of those So Cal tickets blacked out during March (besides weekends?)

Ticket is only valid Monday through Friday and not valid on the following dates: January 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, 29-30, February 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27; March 5-6, 12-13, 19-20, 26-27; April 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30; May 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 2022.

From what I see, only Saturday and Sundays are blacked out.

BTW, I am predicting that the last few days before the end of it (around May 26), it will be incredibly busy.

So what I'm reading is they didn't think to have the cheap tickets end before the return of the nighttime entertainment. Fridays in May are gonna be fun :rotfl2:

I would be very curious to know the percentage of local visitors to DL versus WDW. It seemed everyone we met was either local or from Texas (we tend to have very early spring breaks in Texas). I saw a lot of families eating homemade lunches and just have to wonder why Disney suits feel the local visitors can be as viable as their brethren from Florida who tend to stay on property, eat on property and buy souvenirs on property. It really is a very different vibe at DL (in some ways it’s much better because of this) that what you see at WDW.

Locals make up about 80%. That was true before the pandemic, at least.

By "locals" I mean anyone who drives in.

Wow, that is insane. I would imagine it’s close to the opposite at WDW?

Probably. WDW is a very different animal, and since Orlando is such a popular tourist destination, it stands to reason that the majority of guests on any given day are from out of state.

I noticed I got a survey (I am sure everyone that visits gets one) that really keyed in on my experience with dining and shopping onsite. It specifically asked where I ate and shopped and how much I spent. I really foresee Disney following the airline model where there will be multiply classes of service for each guest. Basic premium, premium plus and first class. Not sure that’s a good thing for everyone but it certainly appears headed in that direction.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they allow guests to pay extra for guaranteed restaurant reservations. I recommended that guests of Disney resorts, should get first dibs but I could totally see them just charging an extra fee for guaranteed space.

On a per year rather than per day basis, many locals spend way more at Disneyland than someone from out of state. Frequent visitors are more likely to try new food or buy new merchandise just because it's new. When locals couldn't get in to Downtown Disney during the pandemic, pin sales at Disneyland collapsed because many in the local pin trading community go in every week to buy the new pins. Locals may spend a couple hundred dollars every few months even if on some visits, they spend nothing (but they already paid for a Magic Key). Tourists may blow a thousand dollars or more once every few years.

Additionally, people with Magic Keys are more likely to invite their friends and family who don't have Magic Keys into the park which sells day tickets. If locals don't have annual passes and don't care to go Disneyland, they are more likely to prefer going to someplace else.
