Palo brunch on Wish for Platinum CC???

My husband and I will be sailing on the Wish in August with another couple in 2 staterooms. Myself and the other wife are platinum so we booked Palo brunch for all 4 and each plan to use our comp Palo meal for ourselves and our spouses. On the phone with DCL this morning we were just told that Palo is not Disney owned and won’t necessarily comp us for brunch instead of dinner - she said it’s entirely up to the restaurant and that there is no way to find out in advance if we can use it for brunch. We have to check once on board. If it isn’t comped we will cancel but would only have less than 24 hours before our res at that point so she said we could potentially be charged for cancelling that late, even though we supposedly can’t verify that they’ll give us the brunch as our platinum benefit until we board! This will be my 16th DCL sailing (first on Wish) and I have never heard of this or had this issue. I’ve definitely used my comp Palo meal for brunch twice before on other ships. Does anyone know anything about this or having the same concern? It seems very wrong to me, but maybe this is something new with the Wish? Thanks for any info or insight!

I don't believe the CM is correct. I see no reason why Palo on the Wish should be any different from the other 4 ships, which certainly do allow you to use your Platinum benefit for brunch or dinner.

At any rate, somebody on the MV will certainly post their experiences with Palo long before you sail in August.

I recall reading that it depended on the Palo manager. In the past there was a Palo manager that decided to stick to the DCL policy word for word and would not let cruisers use brunch as their free Palo meal. Once that manager was replaced the newer manager decided to be a bit more relaxed about it. Given that this is a new ship and maybe a new manager it is anyone's guess what the new policy will be. Hoping for the best at this point, but prepared to cancel our Palo brunch based on what the cruises preceding ours report...

Sorry to piggyback, but does anyone know if the Wish will have Palo brunch on port days on 3 night cruises, or will it only be offered on the one sea day on 4 night cruises?

This is the part that I am confused about. Unlike Yak and Yeti and some of the restaurants in Epcot, or Starbucks/Johnny Rockets on RCL, Disney Cruise restaraunts are part of Disney Cruise Line unless something vastly changed. I think this is a very uniformed CM.

I seriously doubt that. The new ship will have a crew drawn from experienced DCL CM's.

Assuming they follow the same practice as the Dream, there will be brunch on Nassau day.

The Palo servers will most likely be drawn from experienced Palo servers, but they are not the ones making policy. I'm just passing along facts. Previously the policy was only Palo dinner was comped for Platinum cruisers and then a new manager came along and relaxed the policy. But if you read the information on the DCL website it explicitly states that Platinum cruisers are entitled to a free Palo dinner if available. They can refuse to sub a Palo brunch for that free Palo dinner whenever they want. We won't know for sure until the first regular cruises set sail what they have decided to do about that...and even then they can always change their mind...

We were denied using our Platinum Perk for brunch once, on the Wonder in 2014. I believe that had to do with the manager at the time as I saw other reports here around that time, saying the same thing. Other than that I have been able to use it for brunch approximately 8 more times, including on the Wonder just a year later in 2015.
Good luck!

I read this and most cases I see, the meal can be comp for brunch. Of course, we all like flexibility. However, since there are much more less spots for brunch and a ton more people want wants to go, I do understand that Disney wrote this where the comp meal is the one that have more availability to all.

For me which ever gets comp, I will just have to make space to fill it into my schedule. Personally doesn’t bother me.

We are also hoping to use the perk for brunch on our 4-night Wish. But, it has been totally booked up, although I keep checking.

Same here! On booking day I was on time but it went within about 1 minute of me trying - I kept refreshing and it just kept saying "please call" and obviously the lines weren't open at that time!

Same here, nothing available on platinum booking day. I think the number of concierge staterooms on the Wish will see this pattern continue.

the annoying thing is there is still availability showing for Palo dinner on my cruise but I can't book any slot! What I was told was because they are for parties of 4 and I am a 1 which seems very unfair and weird

I'm booked for brunch on Nassau day (but it's a 4 night cruise). and it is for a party of 2, not 4. But if I can't use the plat credit I am going to have to change it. not good, because this will possibly be my only time on the Wish and I want to visit all the dining rooms.

I was told they do have 2 tables too its just they don't let any party of 1-2 book a table for 3-4 if that makes sense so it may show as available but not be - which is exactly what I'm getting.

I'm sure they do this so that when a party of 3-4 wants to book there is a table for them. If that table never gets booked by that size party then it will be available for smaller parties but probably not until you actually board the ship.

I've never known them to do this on previous cruises though. They always let you just book. I get the idea I just don't think its fair for those people that are travelling solo so therefore could miss out completely even though there is availability.
