Omg, this!! We used to freeze them, too, and they were so good back then.Ding Dongs back when they were still wrapped in foil. We used to try to remove the foil without tearing it. I remember them as tasting wonderful. They are now wrapped in mylar, the filling is greasy, the cake is dry, and the “chocolate” coating is waxy. I’m sure that’s how it tasted to adults back in the day.

I just bought some last week. They are smaller than I remember. But they still taste like sugar and coal tar.
We bought them from the ice cream truck and they called them bomb pops so Rocket Pops is probably right.I never knew of them as "Bombs" though - it was Rockets when I was a kid and apparently they're called Firecrackers here now.

They ARE smaller. Not because of my memory but because offered products have been shrunk. More $ for less.I just bought some last week. They are smaller than I remember. But they still taste like sugar and coal tar.

Neither one of which can legitimately be considered food, per se, but I know what you're getting at.These are the exact ones in my freezer lol
It is confusing that we have two foods called rockets, but it’s easy to know what one someone is talking about.
I remember Screaming Yellow Zonkers. I also remember Koogle. It was flavored peanut butter and it had a weird texture and it tasted nasty!Check this out! Foods of the 1970s:
