Gaining weight on a Disney vacation

Much of a Disney vacation is centered around food. Despite walking around, I suspect many of us has gained weight while visiting WDW. If you did how much weight did you gain? If you didn't, how did you manage to keep it off?

I just got back from a week's stay 2 days ago. I tried to make good choices - yogurt & granola breakfast, fish dinners. Well, except in Italy, I could not pass up the Gnocchi or the Tiramisu. I gained 5 pounds. But, it's a vacation, and I expected some weight gain. I just tried to minimize without ruining the whole experience.

I look forward to my Disney vacays (well, for obvious reasons) because I always lose weight. I’m not a huge eater, and I generally share whatever I get with my companion(s). We walk around 25,000 steps a day, which makes up for any extra food I might eat. I’m also not one who thinks Disney food is worth my calories - I mean I can get a Mickey Bar at Walmart, so I’m not spending my time with those unless they’re free at a party. I have a wedding upcoming, and I actually considered going to Disney a few days before and flying in from there, so I could look my best!

Could be gains in leg muscle weight too. I don’t worry about it at WDW because we’re on the move almost the whole trip. Also don’t go crazy on sugar and fats anyway since too much makes me feel like Pooh Pooh. I wouldn’t eat a whole ice cream funnel cake myself only because my body would revolt, not due to calorie concerns.

I've gained on trips in the past. A few weeks back to my normal diet (you are probably all fried food and sugared out by then anyways) and I'm back to where I started. I have a tendency to overeat if I'm really enjoying a dish. It helps a ton if I focus on stopping when I'm full, even tho that also goes against all of that screaming from parents: FINISH YOUR PLATE, or OMG YOU JUST PAID A FORTUNE FOR THAT, EAT IT!! 🤣

Never have gained, even during long trips on the DDP. We are park centric so we put in a minimum of 10 miles a day. We try to drink less soda and more water. We rarely eat snacks, even on DDP we used credits for fruit for breakfast and at Epcot festival booths.

I think more than at home, because you are eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you should be even more aware of your intake. When cooking at home you usually add less salt, sugar and fat than they do in restaurants, it can add up easily.

Drinking calories is the most useless thing as you do not get any nutrients and the amounts of sugar are atrocious. If you are a soda drinker or juices, switch some out for water.
If you do table service every day, do you need a starter, main and dessert at every meal?
