Dinner table thread. What are you talking about at the dinner table? Each night post a topic that is being discussed around your family dinner (that’s appropriate for the Disboards). 🍽️ :-)

Well, my dinner "table" conversation usually involves the cat nosing around whatever I'm eating and me telling her, "You don't even want it." Topics like, "It's salad," can be common. Usually I end up having to give her a taste which she typically doesn't like. Then we don't talk again until after dinner. 🙂

Me, except my cat will eat literally anything. So it's mostly me pushing him away lol. Currently eating dinner on the couch and he is crawling onto my lap. He's lucky he's cute.

So yesterday DD nerded out and and told us all about the Hunga Tonga volcano eruption in January of this year, she is normally a nerd adverse fashionesta and yet there she was. DS has recently voiced that he is refusing to watch the new LOTR series with the family because that is the only way these businesses will learn to stay true to cannon, you also wouldn't know he is the nerd he is to look at him. We also talk about their jobs, people they mix with and career goals, long term goals, upcoming holidays and such. I am usually very amused by my kids, they both have quick wit like their dad which tends to crack me up. We had dinner together every single night as they grew up, even through all the annoying teen years which was quite the chore at times, so the practice has endured all the bumps and bruises of life, we work well as a team of adults.

The other day we discussed strategies on TPIR - people on contestant's row bidding $1 over the next highest bid - is that a great strategy or just a jerk move? I openly cheer for those $1 over bidders to lose their on stage game. Also, if people really THINK about their bids or throw out numbers. For example - the contestants' row prize up for bid is a 3 night trip to Arizona/Central California/San Diego - includes round trip airfare, 2-3 nights hotel, spa treatment., etc...and the contestant bids $425. Seriously??

We tend to watch weird documentaries while we eat. Like last night, it was all about America's most cursed amusement park. So the conversation is generally, wow, how come I never heard about that? Or do you really think that place is haunted? Or commonly, should we add the place we're learning about to our next road trip itinerary?

I was yelling at the tv because Ian can’t figure out where he’s going. Stupid storm! I am afraid it will pull an Irma, where they evacuated the greater Tampa area, most of them came to Orlando, and then the storm came here instead. Stupid, stupid, stupid storm!

DD was in a bad mood at dinner (rough after school practice), but we managed to discuss how her head was feeling (possible concussion over the weekend), her classes today, planning for our summer vacation and a bit of gossip about another team in her section. She also complained about an in class essay she is having trouble with that she has 10 more minutes to work on tomorrow. She has access to it tonight but cannot edit until tomorrow’s class.

Tonight the dinner table was chairs around the bonfire w/ pizza. Burning the last remnants of barn wood from taking down a old barn on our farm. Discussed the upcoming (at the time) rocket into the asteroid and rehashed some work-related stuff

My husband and I don’t eat at the dinner table. We’re always in front of the tv and don’t really talk at all which is fine with me. He’d be going on and on about his mother and siblings who are all a pain and I don’t need to hear it. I’m over it.

No dinner table discussion tonight. Dh is out of town working and dd had to eat dinner early while doing homework because she was helping her old soccer coach with his new team. So our longest discussion was in the car after practice. It was cute to hear DD talk about how these young U12 boys don't listen. :lmao:
