Is it just me, or does this cancellation policy seem harsh to you, too? Half what the rumored cost of the new prix fixe meal is? Wowza!

If your plans change, please cancel your reservation by phone or email at least 72 hours in advance of your reservation. A $100 per person cancellation fee will apply for no-shows or cancellations within 72 hours of the reservation.

This makes me wonder if any exceptions will be made for sudden illness. A person can often be unsure they'll be able to keep an ADR a day or two after becoming ill. I suppose the thinking might be that if you can afford the meal to begin with, you can afford $100/per person to cancel.

I'm trying not to think that a similarly drastic cancellation policy may be coming for other Signatures. Would not surprise me in view of the many other unpleasant changes since the parks reopened.

It’s similar to the cancelation policy for Victoria and Albert (which is 5 days, not 2, I think). While I doubt it would be applied to all signature restaurants, it might be for the higher priced prix fixe ones.

I think it’s - I’m assuming - because the ingredients are high quality and quite expensive. Cancellations so close to the reservation mean they might not be able to make that up with more reservations, and the food would go to waste

I recently read reports that the cancel policy has been changed in other ways.
Somebody posted they arrived and had a reservation for 4 but only 2 needed and they were charged a No show for the 2 no shows.
I guess read all the fine print before you agree since they have credit card info.

I think that goes along with what I said above. They’d blocked out a table for 4, but when only 2 showed up, they lost 2 dinners they couldn’t then make up. If it been a party of 4 and 3 showed up, maybe it might have been different because a table for 3 and 4 is the same...not for 2 and 4

That’s interesting because a lot of folks have posted about making reservations for more than will show up (because they couldn’t get a reservation for 2, etc., but could get one for 4). Many people posted that this was no problem and they wouldn’t be charged for the no shows. (Not talking about V and A here, but other restaurants).

Sorry M Paul - you are no V & A. Unless there is a dramatic overhaul - I can’t imagine why you would sign up for this.

This is the same cancellation policy as 3 Michelin star Per Se. Bold move lol.
Never have had the pleasure of dining at Per Se or The French Laundry, but I agree that an identical policy to Per Se's does seem rather much.

They'd better have acquired a French chef of the ilk of Paul Bocuse himself, I'd say.

We certainly never have considered Monsieur Paul in a league with V&A's. Service has often been a whenever for us. Though the food was good, it was Il Mulino or Cali Grill-good, not V&A's.

Oh my, what restaurant was it? As above, there are so many reports of solo diners and couples finding "no availability" when they try to book for their party size but lots of options when they increase their party size to 3 or 4, that booking for more than your actual party size is a standard bit of advice here. Same for booking for an even number of guests when the actual party is an odd number, e.g. book for 6 because looking for a table for 5 comes up empty.

I can think of plenty of high end steakhouses and restaurants in my area that don't charge a cancellation fee of any kind. If the restaurant is in that high of demand there will be plenty of people willing to swoop in as walk ups.

This is nothing more than a money grab... because they can.

Sorry to be so vague…I just remember reading that NO Show & wanted to remind people to always read the fine print.

Recently needed to make a reservation for All Stars and the entire payment was required . I’m used to paying a one night deposit with WDW … so I backed out and just booked one night instead .
But it was something different and caught my attention.
I know this is standard for the WDW Travel Company but not for just a room reservation.
NowadaysWho knows .
I also started to notice a 6 night cancel penalty versus the traditional 5 night .
Remember when it was Day of before 6 p.m. ….?

Most of the time the advice is followed by noting once booked with a higher number than needed you can and should turn right around and modify your reservation back to what you need. I needed to do that for about 40% of mine. No problem modifying all back. And for general interests sake..In this round a week ago It was bumping to 2 from 1. I had none that became avail if I put in 3 or 4.

I guess...it doesn’t bother me, really; I still want to try it.

Yikes!!

Until one of you comes down with a violent case of stomach flu or food poisoning the day of your reservation.
Disney has made exceptions to their no-show policy in the past when there is a good reason for cancellation and I expect they will continue to do so. We missed a Skipper Canteen reservation earlier this year due to a severe delay in our arriving flight and I did a chat on the app where they agreed to waive the no-show fee.
