House Hunters

Is this the one where they chose one out of three. If so, I used to watch it all the time but haven't recently. I always picked the wrong house. :teeth:
Yes!

I like the ones where the houses are more fixer uppers and the people seem happy.

Other episodes when they are upsizing from an already huge house and talk about tearing out a gorgeous new kitchen just irk me.

I like watching too. I always want to know what people do that they can afford some of the houses they’re looking at. The catch phrases always crack me up. “A lot of light” “It’s a little tight” “This is my closet, where’s yours?” “I prefer hard woods” . Someone posted a hint years ago, so I can usually tell which house gets picked. My DH thought I was really smart til I told him how I knew. 😂

Yes, I have watched for years and remember when Suzanne Whang used to be on. Although I'm too busy to watch every episode, if I have time I catch an episode on my LG app.
Supposedly she passed away fairly recently.
I PVR it and just watch it randomly when I want something easy to watch like right before bed or Sunday lunchtime.
Sometimes way too many episodes on DVR (like 35) and I delete half.

And yes they all entertain a whole lot!

There was an episode I would love to know if the couple are still maried.
It was in Texas I think. He worked at a home improvement store if I remember correctly. I think she was the one wanting a castle look(I am aging though and that might be another episode) She had a home business. The house they picked had an office. She wanted it for her business. He wanted it to hang his sports memoribilia. Guess who ended up with it....him.
When they looked at kitchens he made digs about her cooking. The end of the show had them in the kitchen and I think she was making spaghetti, and he had to end it with yet another dig. I didn't get the impession this was just fun kidding either.
I liked watching it, but that episode was hard to watch.

I’ve also been watching it for decades and since the Suzanne Whang hosted days. Now, I watch just occasionally. I like the ones with the more expensive than I could ever afford houses the best. Or if an episode that was filmed in my area, it’s sometimes funny to hear what they call a neighborhood which is usually not what it’s called locally. And it’s always interesting to see the differences in housing markets in different cities compared to our area.

It's fake. Often times the couple has already closed on the house and the other two they supposedly are going to choose from are just thrown in. They are on the market though. At least that is real. In at least one case, the couple had already lived in their house a year before they filmed them supposedly choosing between 3.

I still watch though. It's funny when they dead pan a house only to pick it.

I used to watch it occasionally when I had satellite tv, but since I am strictly OTA now, I can’t. I actually prefer a British show called Escape to the Country, where they have people who want to move to a more rural setting looking at three homes. The scenery is always great and, biggest surprise of all, most of the time the people don’t pick any of the three homes! Sometimes they continue searching and pick another home, sometimes they decide to delay their move, but it is very rare for them to select one of the properties they are shown. I find that refreshing after House Hunters.

I also love how all the people need space for entertaining. Who is having what people over all the time? If you took a poll here, the majority would be offended if a neighbor dropped by and asked for a cup of sugar 😂
We throw a big Diwali party every year with at least 30-40 people attending and also throw at least 1-3 more large parties every year. This month we hosted a family wedding shower for our cousin who was our flower girl that I think was attended by 20-25 people. We also host all of the family holiday dinners, which are much smaller, usually about 9 people.

We did consider whether this house was suitable for big parties and had enough space for our dining table, which seats 8 comfortably. I really want to get a larger dining table but we can't afford that right now.
I like the House Hunters international version best. I like to see what houses look like in other parts of the world.

There used to be a similar show but for people picking out just a house somewhere for a vacation. Called Sweet Retreats. I liked that show a lot.
I like watching HHI a lot of but it annoys me how many people haven't researched what homes cost in the other country and how many people expect the homes to be just like the homes back home.

Been in our house 40 years. We have had 2 parties. A Halloween party and a summer BBQ, way way way way way too much work.
Thanksgiving ........on the Saturday after because until we retired Thanksgiving was always a normal work day.......used to be our big gathering. 10 people was the max. Last year it was 3. A couple of our guests are no longer mobile enough to come, 3 others have passed away, son and DIL have two little kids, LAST they they want to do is travel 400 miles one way with little people.

Yes it is staged. I still like to see the houses.

I’ve tried Escape to the Country but couldn’t get into it.

I watch it a lot - can’t wait for someone who DOESN’T want the usual ‘open floor plan, granite counter tops and stainless appliances’…😁

Or one years ago when a couple was committed to downsizing and the woman complained that everything was too small.

I thought the buyers ALWAYS already had closed on a house.
