I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

i flew into scottsdale, drove a bit, beautiful scenery. stayed at a place right outside (railroad stuff around), sorry I don't recall the name

got quite cold in the canyon.

also went thru sedona etc which is also beautiful
Williams , AZ is the railroad town - they say they were the last town on Route 66 before the highway passed them by. We took the train up to Grand Canyon the first day - fun entertainment and storytelling on the train and we were "robbed" by horseback riding bandits on the way home, followed by a "shootout" in the middle of town later in the day :-). We were there in July of 2021 and had a couple great choices of outdoor restaurants.
When I researched, some of the lodging options in the National Park itself did not have A/C, and some share bathrooms. The A/C is a deal breaker for me - so do your homework!

Met my MSR on my CIU. Will have another $11k + (estimated federal taxes, personal property taxes, umbrella policy, etc.) to spend by 6/15 and no clue what to get. Need to take a bit of an Ink breather. I am considering a Chase Bonvoy card. Feel like I'm running out of options outside of Ink.

I have a Chase Ink Cash card under my name but under the name of a business that I no longer work for. If I cancel the card, could I immediately try to open a new card under a self proprietorship or is there a certain amount of time I need to wait?

We did the train as well. It was fun. I splurged for the high end coach (don't recall what it was called) on the way there. Super comfy seat, AC, breakfast. On the way back I went cheap, no AC, crowded. Would do the luxury coach again, not the cheap seats.
We stayed one night at the hotel in Williams AZ where they load your bags onto the train and you can leave your car there while you are at the canyon. At the canyon we stayed at Kachina lodge which has AC and private bath for each room.

You can have more than one CIC card. You can app for your own and cancel the other later.

Hi all - avid reader of this thread, occasional poster....

Thinking of maybe visiting the Grand Canyon in the fall. Which airport is the best to fly into? Traveling from LGA, JFK or ISP if that makes a difference. Prefer SW but open to other airlines as I have URs and MRs for flights.

ETA: If anyone has advice on lodging, I could use some help there too.
If you prefer SW I would think flying into Phoenix is your best bet. I think Phoenix is the best bet regardless of airline. I know AA flys into Flagstaff, which is by far the closest, but availability may be limited.

I’ve lived in AZ for 26 years and have only been to the Grand Canyon once. Haven’t even taken my kids. Reading all these comments makes me realize how much I’m missing out on in my own backyard. Haha

I’ve flown to phoenix and Las Vegas, both on SW from CMH, and did the drive to the Grand Canyon. If you do Las vegas, you could do a side trip to Hoover Dam on the way. If you fly to phoenix, sedona is a great stop on the way. Not sure how much time you have and what you want to do.

Lodging, I wanted to stay at either Kachina lodge or Thunderbird lodge. Both on the rim. First trip, was a long day trip from Sedona and second trip stayed at Yavapai lodge. The rim hotels were all booked solid. It is not on the rim but in the park. That allowed us to stay late and hike down a bit into the canyon first thing the next day. If you are going in the fall, not sure AC is needed.
For me, not hiking extensively below the rim, GC is a day park, only need one over night in the park.

We flew into Vegas, (spent a night at the Luxor) picked up a car, stopped by Hoover Dam, few nights by Zion (Best Western), (skipped Bryce because had to cut trip short a couple of days), gentle float raft trip on Colorado just below Lake Powell, Grand Canyon (Yavapi) then a night near Flagstaff (observatory), stop in Sedona, flew home from Phoenix. Visited some native American sites along the way (Montezuma castle, Tuzigoot maybe? this was 2007). Kids really liked the saguaro cactus along the roadway.

I'm having issues again buying money orders at Food Lion with Visa gift cards. Went to two FLs today (out running errands). First one was fine. Second one I tried one card and it said my pin was wrong. So I swiped another card and it declined it. I think it's a sign to slow down.

I read on r/churning that people were having problems too. I'm still planning on going out today to see if my gevgc will work at WM.

Doc says Staples has Visa Gift Cards this week. I'm in disbelief that in the last couple of weeks I've spent $2400 in giftcards that I bought to meet my CIU MSR. Organically. In other words, I didn't need to buy the cards to meet the MSR as I have/had until end of May to do the spend. Of course, $800 went to the Vet in just one day. My points are showing and I should be getting them on Tuesday. 99,000 plus! Yayy! Such a nice injection that I'm tempted to do it again in July, or whenever my 3 months are up.

Got the card in the mail March 12, and finished spend April 7 but statement closed April 2nd so have to wait until May 2nd for the points to land, even though I can see them pending. I don't need them quickly, just want to see them in my account.

Looking to support DH for another Ink card in May. He still has a small balance on his CIU he got last September, and a larger one the CIC he got in Feb. I have paid them down to about 25% of the CL on each, could pay them off before applying but is it necessary to do so to get approved for another? Any experience with approval in this situation?

Nothing like being on the elliptical and having dh come down and start looking under the water heater, to take a chunk out of the MSR on your new card 😞.

I know I'm going to need a new water heater by maybe winter. I can feel it in my bones. It's the only appliance in my house over 5 years old. It's somewhere around 15yo. I should probably just do it before the cold comes around again so it's not as much of an inconvenience.

That's what my mom did so it wouldn't become a must do immediately thing.

Ours was almost 21 years old. The really odd part...our neighbor (he is basically family) comes every Friday night to play darts with dh. He put in a tankless two years ago. It sprung a leak a few weeks ago. So, he bought sendors, to tell him if it gets wet in there again in the future. It came with more sensors than he needed, so he brought us one Friday night. I told him, ours is almost 21 years old, so I refuse to even think about this right now. Ha, cosmic joke apparently.
I was thinking "how am I supposed to use up these Vgc I bought for my MSR?" and then my filling fell out... :sad2: Funny how the universe "helps" sometimes, isn't it? :D
Yeah, so helpful LOL. I already have property taxes to pay, and a $1000 vet bill coming at the end of May :-) Of course you know I had to say it, walking out of Menards...well that will help with the MSR.

Sorry you lost your filling. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.

For anyone who has been to Palma or Marseille, any recommendations of must sees? I think I am trying to keep them more layback since we have full days in Naples, Florence and Rome.
