Netflix..anyone cancelling?

Well we just got the email that Netflix will be charging an extra $8 a month for an extra person outside of your house to use your account. I pay for the premium plan which is 4 devices and two of my kids don’t live at home. I am not paying more per month for it and decided to cancel. I don’t see why they care “where” you are as long as no more than however many devices are on your plan are being used.

Anyone else cancelling?

I canceled ages ago because the price got too high and there wasn't much I wanted to watch. I sign up for a month maybe once a year or so to catch up on the few shows I'm interested in (Umbrella Academy, Witcher, and I'll watch Bridgerton while I have it but wouldn't sign up just for that) then cancel it.

We'll have to think about all of this. DD uses it some while away at college, but not sure if she really needs it. We were going to cancel several months ago, but never did, and now watching several series on it. How will this work when travelling?

No. My kids are both at home so the changes do not affect us. I watch it more than the other streaming services we have so I will not be cancelling any time soon.

Nope, because we already dropped it. We had a shared account with our daughter. A few months ago she noticed none of us was using the accounts so she suggested we drop it, so we did.
We also dropped our shared YouTube TV account.
We still have Peacock, but it's free, but don't watch it.
Just added Disney+/Hula bundle, still in the learning curve on those.
Frankly, streaming just isn't our cup of tea. Right now I am watching over the air (FREE) tv a lot more, just discovered the Conan O'Brien Channel.

I watch a lot of Netflix, so no, not canceling here.

We don’t have anyone outside our home using our account, so the $8 doesn’t affect us, BUT we do use it while traveling, so I’m curious if this will affect that.
That's a good point. Same situation with us.

Netflix seems to be the service we watch the least lately. We get it through my FIL. I love Stranger Things and the Witcher, maybe I'll sign up for a month once a year to catch up on those shows if FIL cancels.

Dropped it years ago. Just not enough content that we were interested in.

I have 5 kids, 2 are away at college and 2 have their own places. I know I can ask them to pay the $8 a month, but they were also supposed to pay me for unlimited data on our cellphone plan and guess how that turned out. I’m still trying to get our ez pass back from dd26, she drives up and down the parkway/turnpike extensively plus NYC tolls (our minimum reloading fee is now $125).

Instead of cancelling you can just tell those using your login that they need to get their own. That is what I'd do. They are switching from a growth model to concentrate on profitability so it makes sense.
See I don’t want to do that. I pay $20 for the premium plan which is 4 devices. It shouldn’t matter where they login from.

I'll have to see whether it's worth it once our kids are in college this fall. I'll be curious about the travelling account options. I logged in this past weekend at our lake house without any issues, but I don't know if changes have taken effect. If it won't let us log in at two locations, I would either have to upgrade or just consider dropping the account.
