I wouldn’t want to be feeding 3 children right now.I don't think I have paid less than $3 for a dozen eggs in over year. I am paying consistently $200 a week or more for groceries.
Up until 2 years ago I never gave much thought to grocery shopping. I went every week to buy what I needed, the price didn't change and that was that. Not the case anymore. I guess if you have the time and will to cut coupons and shop for deals you can still find a few.

Two hundred is pretty good for five people.I don't think I have paid less than $3 for a dozen eggs in over year. I am paying consistently $200 a week or more for groceries.
It doesn't feel like it. I hate that my grocery bill is well over $1000 a month. Two hundred is pretty good for five people.
You're doing much better than me for my family of four.It doesn't feel like it. I hate that my grocery bill is well over $1000 a month.
Thought of this thread when I saw that a dozen eggs are .99 at my grocery store, regular price. Though prices were never really that high for them here, never saw a dozen for more than 1.99.
Most prices for groceries here don't seem bad at all to me
You're doing much better than me for my family of four.
Eggs have come down in price. Fresh fruits and vegetables are up and down weekly, Beef is ridiculous. What it comes down to is we're paying a lot more for groceries than we were two years ago. Occasionally you'll find a sale or a good deal on something, but overall costs are way up.Here in NYC, eggs went up to $6.59 for a dozen extra large eggs. They are still up around $5.00 now.
A couple weeks ago, I did see some eggs for $0.99 at Target. It was so odd to see that I was afraid the eggs might be genetically modified or something, and that's why the price was so low. I passed on those eggs.
One can of corn or chick peas are up to $2.79 per can. So, it seemed unreal that a dozen eggs would be a lot less.
Yikes. Just two of us, about $100 a week IF we need expensive stuff like laundry detergent. About $75 most weeks. But we are seniors now, and eat a lot less than we did in our younger years. And our meal planning is done all in the store, based on what is on sale or marked down. Got cube steaks for $2 off the package because they were getting close to their puil date. Salmon was on sale. And had a pork roast tonight. That was me before Mach of 2020 also. The stores here are back to having decent sales. But there are almost no coupons to be had. Besides prices going up, our income has gone down. My husband retired from his high stress management job in 2021 & returned to his company 2 days a week as a consultant. I retired in April last year; my husband retired from the consulting position 2 months ago. We’ll find our new balance of income/ spending. It’s just a little harder with prices still changing so much.
Same here. It’s usually a bit over $200 a week for just the 2 of us. Maybe every 3rd or 4th week I can get away with $100- 125.
There are so few coupons in the newspaper. I used to belong to a coupon swap on this board but it isn't worth it anymore. I have better luck with store coupons. That was me before Mach of 2020 also. seriously????? is this for a high end organic type brand? if not you might do better ordering online. i can get del monte canned corn at 4/$4.98 w/free prime delivery on amazon. canned goods have'nt increased to your extent around us-i got chick peas on sale for 87 cents a couple of weeks ago but i am find other shelf stable stuff i can get a much better deal on ordering from amazon or other sources. One can of corn or chick peas are up to $2.79 per can
I keep a full pantry and freezer and buy a lot of bulk things I'm pretty aware of the price changes. I still think I do better this way, but maybe I should be shopping at the dollar store... I don't know.
I have been using the Flashfood app for about a year now and get some really great meat deals on there. We still buy organic locally raised chicken because we like it best, but beef is just crazy priced and on the app I can get it for 1/2 price. They regularly have fruit and veggie boxes for $5 so I menu plan with what I get from there. I house clean for an Air BnB and quite often get unopened leftovers and if anything looks good I will bring it home.
I have been meaning to mention this on here for a while and kept forgetting. For those who don’t know, Flashfood is an app that is linked to local supermarkets to provide discounted food that is close to their sell by date. Here in Massachusetts, it is affiliated with Stop and Shop stores. I have not used it because I don’t really go to Stop and Shop, but I have looked on the app and it seems to provide some big discounts on things like fruits and vegetables as well as prepared foods.
The app is free and the website is Flashfood.com.
With all the crazy prices, hopefully this can help people out!
I think I will start a new thread mentioning this to let more people know about it.
Both of the major grocery chains in my area let you clip manufacturers coupons virtually on their website/app and they automatically come off at checkout (BigY separates store coupons and mfg coupons, for Stop and Shop it's all lumped together). Comes in very handy. There are so few coupons in the newspaper. I used to belong to a coupon swap on this board but it isn't worth it anymore. I have better luck with store coupons.

Amazing you can do that. My wife spends between $200 and $250 a week for us two, and we buy no meat or junk food.Yikes. Not amazing to me. The two most expensive items from Sunday weren't food. 16 pack of AA batteries for $16.98 and a bottle of Cerave hand lotion for $13.72. Our tab would have been much lower without those two items.Amazing you can do that. My wife spends between $200 and $250 a week for us two, and we buy no meat or junk food.
