I have a special request this morning….
Today is my DD20’s 20th birthday.
If you have a free minute, please go the birthday area here on the CB and wish her a HB on the thread I posted. I’ll send her the link at the end of the day, and it’ll make her smile on this special birthday.
Thank you :goodvibes

Now….back to the poll……

This is inspired by my mother that eats her pizza with a knife and fork - always.

How do you eat your pizza?
With a fork, knife and fork or pick it up?
(multiple choice)

For Me……It depends on the pizza.
A stuffed or deep dish pizza - a fork
A thin crust pizza - I pick it up

I prefer to pick it up if I can.

If it’s thin and sloppy, I’ll use a knife and fork. Or, if I order a pizza in a fancy restaurant, I’ll use a knife and fork.

I pick it up but a lot of times I use a fork to scrape off half the toppings eat it with a fork and then eat the rest of it picked up drives my family nuts but that’s how I like to eat my pizza
If it’s deep dish always with a fork specially the Chicago style
If it’s extremely thin and crispy almost exclusively picked up
If it’s somewhere in between toppings scraped off ate with a fork rest of it picked up
I never cut it with a knife and eat it that way the only time I use a knife would be to finish slicing it apart

While I will probably need a fork to clean up the spilled toppings from a Chicago style pizza, generally eating it by hand is always going to be the case.

I usually eat pizza with a fork. If we’re at a party where there’s a sheet pizza cut in squares, then no fork is needed.

Most of the time I pick it up, but will use a fork if it's especially messy or especially hot.

I mostly pick it up. The exception is when it is really hot or it is a deep dish/messy pizza. :)

Almost always pick up. Only exceptions would probably be stuffed pizza (which I haven't had in ages) and once in awhile, a Lou Malnati's (but even then, mostly pick up for Lou's also).

Eta--and if using the rare fork, never a knife, just the fork.

I don't eat pizza anymore.......unless I make one on a low carb flour tortilla.
Back in the day it would be picked up. I don't care for deep dish pizza.

Pick up always.

My ex husbands grandfather ate it with a fork and knife. He was at my sons bday party many years ago and we served pizza. He asked his wife for a fork and knife because he claimed he wasn’t some of kind of animal that would eat with his hands. :rotfl: My mom overheard it and was cracking up.

Yeah - in some countries eating pizza with your hands is frowned upon - Portugal and Italy for the most part but even there there are exceptions

For me it depends on the pizza - NY style fold it and hands - Neapolitan - fork and knife

Oh and Chicago Style - that's not pizza ;)

I agree on the Chicago pizza. I’ll eat. It’s good. But it’s not pizza.

I’m in NJ. So hands only always.

He is from Central America and very old school.

Other. Up until Saturday, I would have said I virtually never use a knife or fork; just pick it up and scarf it. That’s because we almost always get take-out and by the time it’s here, it’s a great temperature for eating. I had my first pizza actually in a restaurant, in years, the other night. It was served piping hot and I was starved, so I cut it up and used a fork.

At home or at our local favorite pizza place, knife and fork because you'd lose the toppings if you picked it up.

Out at a gathering with people and you get chain pizza, pick up.

I picked all of the "sometimes" options. My go-to method is to pick it up. But, if picking it up isn't feasible (too thick/thin to eat with hands without toppings going everywhere, too hot, etc.) I'll use utensils.
