I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Trying to decide on the CIP versus either CIC/CIU.

Is the extra 25k in extra URs worth the $95AF in addition to the extra $2k needed in MSR ($8k instead of $6k)?

Decisions,
Depends on your situation…If you can meet the additional $2,000 I’d say yes…..even if you don’t have a CSR to use PYB or the travel portal the 25k URs can be cashed out for $250 less the $95 AF you are ahead $155…
….if you have a P2 don’t forget to use a support link for whichever card you decide on

I can't do a top sheet--it makes me feel confined. I know that sounds absurd:)

I feel that way about weighted blankets. Just the thought of one makes me shudder. But I also practically unmake the bed at hotels because the bottoms are always too tight and I always feel like they short sheet. I want the blankets up to my head and sometimes partly over when it's cold

Went to the donki in asakusa this morning and it's just not my thing. I enjoyed tokyu hands. Walked way too much at Tokyo station trying to find a shop I wanted to go to before I finally figured out I had to go through the train gates. Just finished the lauderee macrons I got, so worth the hour plus wandering. Plus I found some cute sumo stuff.

Meji, harajuku and shibuyuba tomorrow.

So we have Japan coming up in May but I’m starting to think about where we’d like to go next so we can get the points ready. We’ve thought about Iceland but I think we want to wait until ds is older.

Where are your favorite places to go on points that you think would be fun with a 4 year old? Open to almost anything, in the US or international.

Decisions, decisions...

I think it also depends on how you intend to hit the spend. With CIC and being able to do the spend entirely on 5% VGC, you end up coming out with more value after cost of AF. (6k spend at 5% is $300+$750 bonus, 8k spend at 1% is $80+$1000 bonus-$95 AF, assuming 0.01 UR value)

We did a CIP this summer because we had a) travel spend coming up where we wouldn't be able to use VGC so the 3% travel helped boost the return and b) large expenses that we couldn't break into smaller VGC payments so it was going to be 1% base on either card anyway.

And, yes, the support is the same on either card so definitely take advantage.

I can’t have sheets or blankets on my head but I too pull them out from the ends and sides at a hotel. They are sooooo tight I can’t hardly move my feet.

I'll write up a review after my stays for the hotel thread, but what craziness is this. I know a lot of people don't like top sheets but omg just a comforter is too hot and no other blankets. I brought one but it's in my big suitcase. Turned the a.c. down to 66 from 69 and it still didn't help. Didn't get anywhere near the sleep I should have/needed. Will stop by the fd after breakfast and ask for them to bring something.

Happy with most everything else but I sleep hot.

We had this in Ireland the whole stay. Airbnb, hotel, inn -- no top sheets. They were all duvets. When we were getting ready to leave, I posted a pic on Instagram and said "back to the land of abundant ice and top sheets!". LOL

My ears get cold. I like the room cold. Also often where the hood of my hoodie in the house to keep my ears warm. Hair doesn't always do enough. So it's really only part of my head up to the top of my ear but never my face, too stuffy.

So weird. Guess I need to always travel with a blanket then. I've got the empty duvet folded in half thinking it's almost like my bedspread at home. Just can't sort out how cold to make the room. At home we have ductless so I just use the remote without getting up.

It just occurred to me reading your post that I guess we could have removed the comforter from the duvet and basically had a sheet-like situation. Hmmm.

My ears get cold too. My hair is thin but just enough but I have to strategically place it on my ears. My getting comfy to sleep routine is probably quite comical.

American Express question here. I currently have an American Express Business Plus Card for my IT business that I own. I have several other AMEX cards and because I have a good relationship with them, they've been bugging me to get the Business Platinum which I will likely do later this year. But when I get the Plat do I close the Business Plus or just keep it open and rarely use it? Any advice would be great.

Don’t close the card unless you have an annual fee and don’t really need or won’t be using it. The credit available to you gives you a better credit/debt ratio. Also, it’s there in case you really need to use it. JMHO.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I may just use it once a month for a petrol or something just to keep it open while using the Plat for all the perks and benefits.

Has anyone considered

Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®

for the 100k AA points and admirals club access? It's not a cheap AF. Unfortunately, I just blew through my spend on the CIP I got this month. I need another SUB! 😫

And I have a trip to Italy next month with the whole family (on AA). This will let me get everyone in the club without paying a guest fee for my DD for the centurion lounge.
DH has the card, he got it last year. We probably won’t keep it, but I haven’t decided. It would have been a keeper at the $450 AF, but not sure the $650 is worth it. We flew American several times this year so got our $450 worth of food.
But it is a great SUB, so it would be worth it for a year.

I think it depends not only how much you fly American but how much you fly in general in considering pros and cons. I have all three US carrier credit cards: American, Delta, and United, because I travel extensively (much of it international) and all three airlines fly out of my local hub in Hartford. I use a lot of the offers as well as the lounges so the AF pays for itself for me.

The BBP is a nice keeper card to hold your MRs if you cancel the biz plat down the line. The only reason you might want to cancel it is if you end up bumping against the 5 Amex credit card limit. The biz plat is a charge card, so this doesn't apply.

There's a targeted offer on the biz plat for 190k MRs, $15k spend. Hopefully that's what you were offered.
