Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

I've liked all the Pixar films of late, but none as much as Coco. That was so good imo, and hard to top. However, Elemental maybe comes close. There will be a documentary on D+ about the making of the film, btw. Since it ended up doing well after the initial poor marketing, maybe it'll do well on D+ and we'll see more of it out at the parks and such.

It's odd to me how much of a push this movie gets from Disney. We were on a cruise a few months ago and there was a large section of the merch dedicated to Turning Red. Now there's this meet and greet that is casting several roles. I don't know anyone that has actually seen it, which granted is just anecdotal, but still I don't see anyone discussing this movie anymore. When it first came out it was just the normal "ConTrOvErSy" that comes with any feminine driven Disney movie as of late, but no other real discussion about whether it was good/bad/memorable.
I really liked it. And who doesn't love really cute red panda merch?

How many preteen girls have you asked?

I saw soo many girls with red panda merch at DLR. Like, carrying around the panda plush fans.

Guess they figured they could at least operate the place for a while, while also waiting for some equipment that may have had longer than anticipated lead times.

Now that it’s coming in take a few weeks to install it all.
Makes sense. Could be why their reservation availability has been so hit or miss

Narcoossee's will be closed for equipment updates from September 17 through Mid-October

That means we have one of the last reservations before they close. We have an 8:45 on the 16th. I hope that doesn’t negatively impact the food or experience. It’s a one time trip and the only time we will get to eat here. We’ve been so excited. Hopefully it’ll still be great!

I was not a fan, but I don't think I am the audience they were aiming for, LOL!

You know, people keep saying this, but I certainly am not in the audience they were aiming for, and yet I enjoyed it. :confused3
I mean I don’t think being in the target audience determines whether I like a movie or not and I certainly like things that weren’t targeted towards me. I don’t personally enjoy this one but that doesn’t mean I think no one outside of the target audience could. For me it was just a little too high energy, dramatic teenager which at this point in time is less entertaining to me than it has been at other times. Doesn’t mean I think no one who isn’t a high energy dramatic teen will like it, just happens to be why I didn’t. So less a case where I think everyone outside the target will dislike it but that some people outside the target may not connect with it. Everyone is different.

Personally, I thought Turning Red was an OK movie, but I didn't care for the animation of the lead characters... Pixar has done so much better with earlier movies than their most recent releases.
