2024 Valentine's Day Thread

Waking up. Working. Watching TV. Going to sleep.

Might tell DH "Happy VD," but it's just a day here.

On Valentine's Day - not much - it's Ash Wednesday, so the kids are signed up for a teen cookie decorating event at the library that day, but I'm not making my holiday meal that day.

Instead, I'm making my allergy-free chocolate fondue for Mardi Gras (aka the day before) and for the whole family.

And the spouse and I are seeing a live theater show (almost free tickets) on Saturday with another couple and (probably) getting dinner as our couple celebration. I say probably b/c we don't do set Valentine menus (b/c of my allergies) or inflated prices, so we'd just grab subs or something if all restaurants go to "Valentine's menus" for Feb 10.

Probably make filets (because we have some in the freezer and at much to @gmi3804 's chagrin) and baked potatoes. Regular for me and a sweet for DH. Making fondue on Superbowl Sunday which is usually our go to if Valentine's Day is close to the weekend. So this is a nice compromise. Will FaceTime our nephew for his 4th birthday. That should do it!

Valentines is the worst of all the holidays, IMO. But I try to make the best of it. I will have my romance playlist playing at work. I will then go out to a special dinner. I thought about inviting a friend but know that the chance that it unlikely they will join me, I probably won't.

Probably not too much! My birthday is the day before and we usually are overfilled on sweets, etc.

I always thought Valentine’s Day was a Madison Ave invention so not having anyone to celebrate it with means little in my life.
I sort of regret my attitude as it relates to the man since he was a true believer. He’d buy traditional offerings and I’d scoff. Still it allowed him to learn that I despise red flowers so that was a good thing.

Poor man, some days I wonder why he put up with me…oh wait that’s because I put up with him💕 🤣 💕 .

Living with him I learned the truer meaning of the day: it’s how you feel about each other and what you’ll do for each other, flaws and all.

Thank you for the memories and now I’m going to order flowers for my remaining aunt (she’s a recent widow) and sisters because even the one who constantly gets on my nerves is needed. And loved.

We are considering going to a local restaurant for their Valentine dinner. We don’t do the cards, flowers, candy stuff anymore.

We'll be boarding a cruise ship for an 11 night Caribbean cruise.

We are celebrating a combo Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year (because it is the year of the dragon and DGD is obsessed with dragons) on Saturday.

No plans yet but DW and I will NOT be going out on Valentines Day itself. Maybe the weekend after. And DW specifically says NOT to get her flowers.
