Anyone else concerned about the crowd increase?

You can buy a Mickey Bar for $6. Sit down somewhere. Remove your mask and eat it. Disney considers this safe.

You cannot sit down somewhere. Remove your mask and take a picture. Disney considers this unsafe.

Please tell me what the difference is.

So seriously.... I wonder. Could you buy a Mickey Bar for $6, sit down, begin to eat it and while you put it down to swallow, have someone snap a picture of you?

I wouldn’t be concerned about the crowd increase if they brought back FP. With reduced hours, you will spend all day standing in socially distanced lines to hit a few rides. Ridiculous! As of this post avg ride times are:
MK 40min
AK 20min (not bad)
EP 40min
HS 40min

This is for a Thursday. Recently, you can double these time easily on wknds.

Probably similar to Universal's thinking: you can go to Volcano Bay, where no one has to wear a mask while walking around unless you get in a line for food or drinks, and then can take the mask off as soon as you get your food or drink and walk around with it, but at US or IoA, you cannot walk around and drink your drinks and have to keep your mask up. Makes sense right?

You are incredibly inaccurate. EasyWDW has been tracking average waits for weeks now and there hasn't even been a day MK averaged 40 minute waits.

Honestly? It’s probably because people caught not wearing masks while walking around would just say that they were eating. And people would conceivably also just constantly carry around a snack or drink so they could argue that they don’t have to wear their mask.

In other words, it’s a This is why we can’t have nice things thing - the people who believe they’re above the rules ruin it for everyone else.

I’d say MDE wait times are inaccurate, not me. MK right now is

45 Thunder Mtn
60 Jungle Cruise
50 Mine Train
25 Space Mtn
40 Haunted Mansion
Are those the actual wait times though? I keep hearing that the posted times are almost twice of what the actual waiting time was for the ride...

We'll be there in 11 days so I was hoping to be able to tell DH not to worry about the posted wait times... :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2

Wait times are not accurate, at least they haven't been the last 3 times I was there in the past few weeks. For example Toy Story Mania had a 45 minute wait posted. We actually rode it twice within 35 minutes.

Im not sure on actual times, but yes it’d be nice if they were half that. That’s a big concern going into a park expecting to get on rides and not waiting in lines all day.

EasyWDW posted average MK wait times of 42 minutes for this past Monday at 3:30 pm, roughly the time of RanDIZ's original post. Of course, the daily average is lower due to the much lower waits at the beginning and very end of the park day.

Let me set the record straight. I’m here at MK right now standing in front of SM. There is ZERO magic. ZERO social distancing. Most people are wearing masks. Good luck staying at least 6 feet from others. Today looks like a normal weekday. I live in FL been coming for 25 years. I’m dissapointed. I felt completely safe at Epcot yesterday as far as distancing goes and had a great day! Here no one cares. Can’t wait to leave in 2 hours. I found a sitting area near Galactic Gateway stage and there is 50 ft for people to avoid me yet they walk within 2-3 feet. All day long....There is going to be massive Corona spikes in Florida in the next 2-6 weeks. Forget waking near it’s a small world or 7 dwarfs you can’t get 2 ft away from anyone.
So, after reading this, when you say there is ZERO magic, all I can deduce is that magic, for you means social distancing?

Besides a lot of stuff being closed, its just quiet in here not the usual music, parades and excitement. As for social distancing, there is none. Zero mask enforcement it’s amazing it’s about 85-90% wearing them.

How’s that for social distancing????
from your posts here and the other thread it's clear you had unrealistic expectations coming to Disney. Sorry you are having an awful time, you can always chose to leave the park if you feel uncomfortable
I honestly don't see anything wrong with this pic, everyone is walking so those gaps in between will stay that way, it seems you were expecting absolutely no one to cross your path, which again is unrealistic

I took the zero magic to mean the park was too busy, with long wait times, and no way to mitigate it with FP+ and/or full operation of ALL attractions, dining, stores, etc. I know Disney wants to increase capacity at some point, but they need to make sure they have the other pieces in place to make the crowds bearable. If the attractions are set to a 30% ride capacity max, you can’t have 50% crowd capacity coming through the gates without making the day a lot less magical. Without shows and parades to absorb some of the crowd overflow, the lines just get longer and longer.

I really hope they consider bringing back FP soon. They should have enough data by now to know how many people they can get through an attraction per day under reduced capacity to allow them to start utilizing it again.

We get some serious stuff done with FP but I don't know that now's the time to bring it back. Yes, crowds have increased since the summer, but they still look nothing like a pre-COVID slow day at WDW. I'd feel unsafe waiting in indoor queues on standby if it went back to the way it was with FPs; I like that the wait lines, except during cleaning cycles, generally just keep moving. We exited Philharmonic on our last trip because the group in front of us decided to take off their masks and start eating in the indoor queue when a cleaning cycle hit. If I was outside, we would have stayed.

Also, I'd speculate FPs would be pretty limited and a lot of disappointment with not even able to grab the "easy" ones - kind of like how it's hard to get sone of the ADRs right now since so much is closed.
