30something Couple Does Food & Wine for the First Time!

Ah your trip is so close!! I'd be going nuts right now! :lmao: I've been to a lot of your ADR's, only ones I haven't been to are jiko, via napoli, and the garden tea room. I will post some food porn pics on my PTR from our last trip, even tho it will make me hungry :thumbsup2 I hope you have an awesome time! Are you dressing up?

Believe me, I totally am! I just try not to think about it. Weekends are so busy for us, so it's easier to get involved in other things on the weekend... but when Monday rolls around, I'm right back into going crazy :rotfl:

Food porn is always a good thing! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Since it's the day after Halloween, we're not going to dress up. Plus we're going pretty much from the airport, to the Garden View tea, to MK -- no real time to think about costumes. I asked my BF if he would wear a Halloween-ish t-shirt to the party, like with a pumpkin on it or something, but he wasn't interested in doing that :lmao: I might do it, though!

Thanks for joining in :welcome:

***Subscribing**** Woo Hoo! Your trip is so close, I'm so excited for you! Your ADR's are awesome! I've never been there for F&W so I'm anxious to hear about it! Also, the MNSSHP - can't wait to hear about that too!! We always go to WDW in September so we're always there for that but believe it or not, we've never gone! I do love watching the people in costumes coming in to the park early, it's really amazing how creative people are. We will be there next year for it and since we're bringing our nieces for their first trip ever, we'll be going to the MNSSHP and they'll be dressing up!

Ok, anxiously awaiting your next post - update!

Looks like we'll be doing MNSSHP on the same day. This will be my 4th one, but I've never gone after Halloween. I've also been debating on whether or not to wear a costume/special tshirt. I'm still undecided. :confused3

I hope you'll let us know what you decide, as far as what to wear at the party. I'm still trying to decide what to do, too!

TWO WEEKS! HOLY COW!!!

Now it's really gonna fly by! Not just because it's only 2 weeks away, but also because we have a billion things to do between now and when we leave.

This past Saturday we (along with DJ's cousin and the cousin's GF) went to a local winery and apple orchard. It was a chilly day, but beautiful and lots of fun. They had some decent wines, a really amazing hard cider, and the most delectable deep fried cider donuts. OMG they were outrageously good! A few pics from that day:

Nice fall foliage (taken by me from the car as DJ drove down the road):

Someone took a few bites of this apple while it was still in the tree :lmao:

It was a great (but long) day. I slept in on Sunday, then made my first-ever crock pot meal. It was so easy! I can't believe I've waited this long to ever use a crock pot! The hardest part was just letting it sit there and not doing anything -- I'm used to very hands-on cooking. And waiting for it to be done wasn't too easy, either ;) BUT it was totally worth the wait. So yummy, especially for colder weather.

Here's a pic. It's not the best pic, because it was so HOT that the steam fogged up my lens! Oh, and that's a nice hunk of puff pastry on top :woohoo:

Tonight we're off to search for components of our Halloween costumes. One Halloween party this coming Saturday, and one the following Saturday. I still don't know if I'm going to be the same thing at both parties. We'll see...

Hope you're all having a good week so far! Thanks for reading! :thumbsup2

Once I started using my crock pot, I haven't stopped. Love it during the week...I do all the hands on cooking on the weekend but during the week once the leftovers are gone....I pull out my crock pot!

I already have plans for a beef stew, and a stuffed peppers recipe I want to try! We don't have a ton of free time over the next couple of weekends (nor will we be home for dinner too often) so those recipes will probably have to wait till after vacation...

...which, by the way, is a mere 12 DAYS away!!! omg omg omg!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Today I had lunch with my niece, cousin (who is nearly 20, like my niece) and my mom at the local Rainforest Cafe. When we walked in, I said to my niece (who is also a Disney freak), "Let's pretend we're in Animal Kingdom." She smiled and said, "That's exactly what I was thinking!" We had a good time. I always keep it simple when I go there, so I'm never disappointed in the food. Today I had the bbq chicken wrap, and it was really tasty! Niece and cuz both had burgers, which looked delish. Mom had salmon. She was not blown away by it, said it was bland. Oh well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad ;)

8 DAYS!!! Single-digit dancing is happening over here! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

We had a long weekend once again, but it was great! Quiet night at home Friday, Halloween party Saturday, and then dinner with DJ's family Sunday (which is an all-day event!). I haven't had much time to think about Disney, but that's probably for the best. I don't want to drive DJ crazy talking about it non-stop!

Our Halloween costumes were a huge hit! We were Birdgirl and Phil Ken Sebben from the cartoon "Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law". My costume took a lot of work. DJ and I spent most of Saturday putting it together. I think it was worth it. I loved the way it came out -- but I won't be wearing it to the next Halloween party we have to go to. The wings made it hard for me to move around without knocking into people, and the headpiece and wig were very HOT. And the party Saturday is traditionally very crowded and there's lots of dancing... so being clunky and sweaty would not be a good thing!

Here's a pic of us in costume:

Tomorrow night, we have plans yet again, possibly Wednesday, too. At some point we need to go buy vacation supplies. I picked up some moleskin already (which I hope we won't need, but just in case!), but still need to get other toiletries and travel essentials. We'll squeeze that in -- when we have 5 free minutes at some point this week :lmao:

Just 6 days now! :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Yesterday I thought everything with our dining was falling apart. We are renting points from a reseller, and after paying for dining (4 nights at Jambo on the DDP, and 2 nights at Kidani on the DxDDP), he informed me that Disney was not allowing my segmented dining... regardless of the fact that we were checking out of one resort and into another. Because all 6 nights were under one reservation number, they said they couldn't do it. I was crushed. My reseller offered me different options, and after discussing it with DJ, we decided we'd just get the regular DDP for all 6 nights and pay OOP for whichever ADRs were leftover, and maybe cancel a couple of them :sad1: We didn't want to go Deluxe all 6 nights - that's just way too much food...

Well, this morning, I got an email from my reseller saying that he and the renting member had called Member Services again, and Disney issued a second reservation number for our two nights at Kidani -- so we got our segmented dining! :cool1: I'm SO relieved! I really didn't want to change anything, and would've had an incredibly hard time deciding which ADRs to get rid of. I'm thrilled! And I couldn't be happier with the service I've received renting points :thumbsup2

Tonight, I started making packing lists. I usually do that a lot earlier, but didn't get around to it until tonight with how busy we've been. I'm trying to figure out what I should put in our carry-on luggage. Having never used Magical Express before, this is the first time I've had to concern myself with not having all of our luggage immediately. I'm thinking a change of clothes, toothbrushes... I don't know what else. Any suggestions would be appreciated! :goodvibes

I am so happy that everything worked out with the DDP. You have had a great experience with renting points, I have heard horror stories, so this makes me have faith that there are still good people out there!

You must be getting so excited! When my daughter was younger we always left for our Disney vacations the last weekend in October, oh and how I wish we were leaving today but we're not:lmao: I'll just live thru you!!

Brrrr! I can't believe this snow! Branches are coming down all over the place because the snow is so heavy and the leaves are all still on the trees.

This was about 4 hours ago. It's much worse out there now.

My Mickey antenna ball (currently the Mickey Bat for Halloween, of course) has a few inches of snow on it:

And to think, in 3 days, we'll be in 80 degree temps in the happiest place on earth! I can't wait! I'll be wearing Uggs and a coat to the airport, and come off the plane with flip flops on :rotfl:

Because of the snow, we're skipping the Halloween party we've been looking forward to for months :sad1: Better safe at home, though. The roads are just awful. So we're just hanging out, listening to NPR and each screwing around on our laptops for now. Hope you're all warm and safe!

We saw that you were getting snow on our news!! That's normally how we look by this time of year but we're having higher than normal temps for November so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll continue for a while!!

I can't believe it's almost time to leave...having snow makes it even better to go!! Uggs....:cloud9:I love my Uggs!!

Just thought I'd pop in. We are having a GREAT time! Taking a boatload of pics and I'm keeping good notes, so my TR should be good, I hope! I will start it up once we're home next week. Have a great weekend, y'all! :woohoo:

We are home! And, pretty much par for the course, I have a cold  At least it waited until we got back! I will be starting my TR very shortly. I won't post all of them, but we apparently took more than 800 pictures! It will take a little bit to sort and upload them, but I promise I'll start soon, and I'll put up a link here when I do.

Thanks for sticking around! :thumbsup2
