A (2019) HalloXmas trip to Asia - Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo! - COMPLETED 5/1!!!

Wait, two updates in a row? Is this really a Lesley TR? :P
Hey, you're in way better shape than me!!! I never even wrote my May TR and still yet to start my December one, even though I almost have it added to my signature! :)

(Oh and this was my first experience with, um, guests not using proper toilets. A family with 2 little boys entered in front of me and the mom whipped out a water bottle for her son to pee into. At least that was somewhat understandable, since it was a little kid and she did immediately seal it and throw it out. Still a bit interesting to see…)
Wow. Just wow.

I sure did! That was the last time I've done one of those raft rides! I think Kali is down in February, or else I'd do it on a day I need to go back to AKL earlier in the day, but no luck so far!
Ha! it is usually down when we are there in Feb which probably adds to the allure of it for the girls.

Yeah, it would be great! Or at Fort Wilderness!
Yes! And at Fort Wilderness, they could totally manage the waver thing!

See, cherry sounds grosser to me.

I love anything Tangled themed!

It's her eyes! What is going on with her eyes?!?!

I loved the finale & Crystal Grotto part, but you’ll have to wait til tomorrow to see my better photos!
That looks awsome! Storybook Canal was one of my favorites for DL.

Everything you are reviewing is so stinking cute! I am loving the details and differences you are describing in each area.
The merchandise is also so cute!
I’m so glad you were able to experience all these parks and bring home your memories for us to enjoy!

Man, I wish we had a Tangled QS restaurant in the U.S. parks! I love the theming shown in your pictures. And I can appreciate the abundance of seating for longer meals. (*cough* Evie *cough*)

Oh wow, I will have to show Landon that Neverland fountain. That was so cool! Happy to hear their version was really good. (Even if you had to experience it with other guests sitting in your row.)

Haha, yeah, it's hard when there are multiple trips to report on! And it's not like you have a life outside of the Dis anyways...
Voyage to the Crystal Grotto looks SO cool!!!
It was unexpectedly awesome!
Yes! And at Fort Wilderness, they could totally manage the waver thing!
Totally!
See, cherry sounds grosser to me.
Me too! It doesn't seem like something that works with popcorn. Like Strawberry in Tokyo - super popular but weird to me!

Seriously!

You guys definitely need to try to get over there too one day! Maybe Andi's college graduation?

Yeah, plenty of seating was key!

I'm sure all of you guys have heard about the closing of the parks in China due to the coronavirus. I guess Disney expects to lose $280 million! It really is breaking my heart, because while I understand there is a risk, I loved these places so much! And just worry about their future! (Of course I am worried about the people too!)

Part 7 – Playing with toys!

Time for Toy Story Land! I was curious how this would hold up to the versions at DHS and Paris!

Made a quick pit stop at Toy Box Café, which has some cute offerings, like Alien pizza.

I got the Strawberry Bubble Waffle, which was delicious! Fresh bubble waffle, soft serve, strawberry sauce, pocky stick! Highly recommend!

(And if you are curious - yes, there was plenty of seating around the food areas!)

I considered getting one of these sippers but decided not to since I was worried about luggage space!

I really wish they had added something like this to DHS’s version of the land!

Some cute capsule games but they seemed to only take the digital Chinese currency, so I didn’t get any

Time to use my FPs. First, Woody’s Roundup, basically Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree/Alien Swirling Saucer, but different themed. I thought it was very cute and a fun ride, as always!

They have Slinky Dog Spin, the same ride as in Paris and Hong Kong. It’s a fun enough ride, but wasn’t included in my FPs and can be a very slow loader, so I skipped

PorNYQX.jpg

So, I know I also got to ride Rex’s Racer (Same as in Paris and Hong Kong). But apparently I didn’t take a photo of it? (It was in my FP set.) Another fun ride, but slow loader, so can have longer wait times. I also had to try out the test seat and could barely fit (though I found the actual seats to have more clearance than the test seat, so fit ok on the ride itself).

Jessie saying goodbye!

I had to take a photo of this push chair/stroller. It was everywhere in Shanghai (and Hong Kong), and actually I was ok with it. Very unobtrusive and could easily fold up. Kids could easily get in and out of it (the U-shape restraint just flips up over their heads).

Anyways, onto my journey. Back to Tomorrowland. (I used FPs again on these rides)

Checked out the fun Stitch bean bag toss – you always win something, either a pin or a pin/lanyard or a plush! I didn’t play though because, a) I suck at those games, and b) I didn’t need any of the merch!

Since I was on the lower level, I headed for Buzz, where I had just as much fun as the first time. And got my highest score ever! (Buzz is in the photopass, but it never got loaded properly into my account)

And of course, Tron! Very fun, but the leg restraint did squeeze pretty badly (I eventually figured out it was partially due to me wearing shorts, which meant the restraint couldn’t slide with my pants like it did in the morning).

Coming up – Mickey’s Storybook Express

Some cute additions to their Toy Story Land. So, no Slinky Dog Dash or coaster there then?

Love your face on Tron :) So, it was just as awesome this time around I see!

I'm just joining in today! I love your report so far! I am jealous and happy for you at the same time. I love all the pics plus the extra details you mention in your report. You know a lot of Disney! Look forward to the rest.

Their version of Toy Story Land looks cute! And I love the themeing of the Woody's Roundup ride!
Yeah, the little horsies were pretty cute! They all had their own names - I thought I grabbed the cart pulled by "Kitty" but it turned out to just be her twin!

Nope - DHS gets the unique rides. Everyone else has copies. I think the original concept art of DHS had Rex's Racer (the parabola back and forth coaster) in the background, but that got cut due to costs. Also, SDD got shortened. But I think SDD is definitely the best Toy Story Land ride!

Welcome! I probably know too much about Disney, if you ask my family!

I
That looks delish!

Those are so cute!!!

your first 3 picutres could have been Hollywood Studios!

I really wish they had added something like this to DHS’s version of the land!
Def!

I love that the girl next to you is kind of like "whatever"....

I love how the first few pictures look like they could be WDW but then the rest are totally different! I wish we had more of the statues they had around especially Jessie saying goodbye!

I love the Bullseyes in Woody's Roundup!

Based on your pictures, it looks like their version of TSL was more like DL Paris's version versus DHS's. But maybe that's just because they had a lot of the same attractions. Either way, it's great that Toy Story is incorporated into this park, too.

As usual I'm late to the party but so glad I found this TR as I had wanted to hear more about this trip even though I followed on FB.

(And if you are curious - yes, there was plenty of seating around the food areas!)

I considered getting one of these sippers but decided not to since I was worried about luggage space!

I would just be crazy for all the merch in the Asia parks...It must have been so hard to resist.

Your lunch spot was pretty neat. There were lots of good choices on that menu. I also like how they themed the different rooms. Lots of cute seating areas!

I can't believe the projected losses for the Asian parks being closed! I would think it would be less than them trying to stay open through low crowds but it is scary to think what it might mean for the future of these parks! I hope they get the virus under control soon!

Looks like a fun day overall!

Interesting facts about the 7DMT. I can see not having the animatronics to use over again so they had to make due with what they could.

Pooh's store looked cute. Interesting how the book was in Chinese, but rabbit's garden sign still said "Kerits."

Good thing you had all those FP! Those wait times are crazy! Interesting about PP, I'm not watching any of the videos that you're posting, cause if I ever go, I want to be surprised.

I've heard worse stories about not using proper bathrooms. At least she/he did it in a contained space and disposed of it.

I've seen photos of the Crystal Grotto, but no one ever mentioned that there were fountains, just figures. No I don't know where the raft is from....
