Anaheim to Laughlin to Vegas

Next November I am taking my parents on a special trip for my Dad's 60th birthday. We are going to Disneyland (mostly for me) and Vegas (mostly for Mom) and my Dad heard about Laughlin and said he wouldn't mind 1 night there.

I looked into it and it seems like a small but okay gambling town. We have a free room at Harrah's there so that's not too bad.

But, does anyone have experience with this drive? Is it worth it or should I try to talk my Dad out of this?

Any comments are welcome.

Laughlin is kinda a neat place away for all the hustle of Las Vegas. It's a tiny town with a few hotels/casinos alongside the Colorado River. It's worth a look at especially if you are getting a room at Harrah's for free. Enjoy!

Plus it's a slightly different route - at Barstow you'd go east on I-40, roughly paralleling the old Route 66. (Remember "Cars"?)

Harrah's is nice, and is on the shore of the Colorado River. Your dad might also like visiting the train-themed casino/hotel Ramada Express and the car museum at the original casino, the Riverside Hotel/Casino.
