Another current story

Maybe, maybe not. I think there are substantially fewer people willing to execute someone in the back than shoot them during a physical altercation so that's the route I'd take. I wouldn't try to run away and wouldn't go with them. I'd get on the ground and let them call the police on me.

You get to decide for yourself. If you'd rather try to get the gun away from them have at it, that isn't the direction I'd go.
I’m thinking if you’re an unarmed black man being chased and penned in by white guys with guns while you were going for a run you’re probably thinking your chances of getting shot in the back trying to get away are pretty damn high.

Being a middle aged, “mom type,” white women I’m fairly confident I wouldn’t have even been confronted and about 90% sure I wouldn’t have been shot no matter what I did. It’s easy to say “I’d do this or I’d do that” when you aren’t seen as a threat on the daily.

I got the Zimmerman vibe immediately.

I read somewhere, they saw him looking into windows of homes under construction. Ummmm really since when is that burglary? I did that all the time when my home was under construction, guess I was lucky these idiots weren't around.
When they called Police, they were told (like Zimmerman was, Officer en route, wait for them).
I hope they pay for this. Can you imagine the fear in this poor man, just minding his business jogging and he gets attacked like this??

Terrifying. His poor mother. I am traumatized by watching the video, so I can't imagine what she is going through.

It’s Zimmerman all over again.

So these yahoos were in hot pursuit of him? Ok Roscoe P Coltrane wanna be.

Did they have a stay at home order except to go get groceries and play Paul Blart? Or act like the klan?

I hope his family gets justice and can find peace.

The comparisons with the Trayvon Martin case are actually a disservice to Mr. Arbery.

The Martin-Zimmerman case was just two losers finding each other. Martin would be alive today if he had simply continued to walk home. But instead, he stopped, hid, and then attacked Zimmerman...and died for his mistake. Zimmerman has been in trouble frequently ever since, and one day will get his reward.

Mr. Arbery did nothing wrong according to everything I've read. He appears to have just been trying to get away from two yahoos. Big difference in the cases.

And what did Trayvon do to make Paul Blart wannabe be to follow him and continue to follow him even after cops told him not to?
And he was hiding to lose Zimmerman because why would anyone want some creeper to follow them home? And I know we all didn’t grow up or have the same experiences but if you act creepy and start following someone, how can you not think it may get some bad reactions?

Martin technically "stood his ground" didn't he? Give it time. Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity will do whatever they have to do to make Mr. Arbery the culprit....

He stopped and hid from the man who was stalking him (after the police told him not too). He "attacked" because Zimmerman was a threat to him, he was defending himself.
Judging by Zimmerman's behavior since he killed Martin I hardly believe anything about what he says about his encounter regardless of what the jury decided.

I didn't say Zimmerman was right. He wasn't right. He was (and still is) a moron and I'm confident he'll continue to be a moron until he gets his comeuppance someday.

I said if Martin had not attacked Zimmerman, he would not have been killed.

Arbery didn't attack anyone, in fact he was trying to get away from them. That huge difference in the fact sets is why I say comparing Arbery to Martin is a disservice to Arbery.

True, but all of the physical evidence (and there was a lot of it) corroborated Zimmerman's version of the event. That's why the jury acquitted him. They had no choice given the evidence.

The good thing about idiots like Zimmerman is that they keep coming around again and again. He will eventually run out of luck.

You folks need to get off your political soapboxes. I'm not defending Zimmerman. I'm defending Arbery.

Yes Mr.Arbery was trying to get awayTrayvon did that to. He also tried to hide then he fought. Hide, flight. Fight.
So we agree to disagree.

Letting an assailant know where you live can be dangerous. So no Martin should not have just gone home.

I was followed by another driver from the freeway once. It was totally weird. I have no idea what the deal was. I don't think I cut him off on the freeway although I changed lanes in front of him slowly and with my turn signals on. He just kept on following me. I went around in circles and he was still right behind me. I was rather hesitant to go home so I called 911 (which is legal in my state while driving since it's an emergency) and stopped in front of a police station where an officer met me after the driver slowed down and stared me down before taking off. The officer asked me if I wanted an escort home to make sure that I wasn't being followed any more and I took him up on that offer.

But absolutely the victim here might have had a good case that he was being stalked illegally.

Thats frightening. I’m glad you were able to stay calm and handle it very well!

And there are also substantially fewer people willing to chase some random jogger down and commit assault with a deadly weapon too. But once it's established we're dealing with multiple people willing to do just that, it stands to reason that we're much more likely than average to be also dealing with people that are willing to back shoot someone. Moreover, the decision doesn't matter. It isn't the victim's fault. I look forward to Bryan being charged too.

We'll see about him. The more I hear from him the more weird he seems, but I can't tell what his actual role was, if any. It will come out eventually, but for right now I just don't know what to make of him.

And don't forget, he is a criminal defense attorney, so you'd think he wouldn't make some big mistake in talking to the law enforcement investigators.

But then again...I certainly have seen some defense attorneys do some pretty dumb things...

It's disgusting nothing was done until word got out about it. That white cop good ol' boy network at it, again.

Once it hit national media, they couldn't ignore it and try to keep it under wraps, anymore.
Completely disgusting.

@jesusfreak75 Here's the entire video you're referring to:
https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law...ge-ahmaud-arbery-case/xvSWFTbaD0k9cr80R7CTnL/
The video is shown at high speed, but actually covers about 13-14 minutes of unedited surveillance camera video.

The video shows a man (who Arbery's family and their attorney say is Arbery) jogging down the street. He walks over to a house under construction and enters the garage. The house is wide open and unsecured. He exits the garage and goes around to the rear of the house, out of camera view. About 5 minutes later, he emerges from the front door and jogs down the street in the same direction he was going. He did not appear to have taken anything from the house.

At worst, he was trespassing on a construction site, which is a misdemeanor. Georgia law permits "citizen arrest" only if the crime is a felony.

Therefore, the attempt to arrest Arbery was illegal. Threatening him with firearms constitutes the felony of aggravated assault...which the defendants were charged with. Therefore, felony murder. I don't know about GA law, but in Florida, felony murder can be a capital punishment case.

In the Atlanta Journal story, they say 3 shots were fired. I had not seen that before and don't know if it's accurate, but Arbery's family attorney also claims he was shot 3 times.
