any advise on doing kennedy space center before or after a cruise?

Would there be enough time to visit KSC on the day we debark with a 5:30 flight out of MCO? We were thinking of using it as our time filler that day.

Well, you certainly won't get the full experience with that sort a stay. It typically can take all day to do the tour and visit all the exhibits there.

Quickest you'll be off the ship would be around 7:30-7:45. Then you have to get to your transportation: rental car, could take up to an hour; personal transportation a bit less. Then travel to the space center, about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

On the other end, you need to be at the airport by 3:30 at the latest (earlier if returning a rental car). Travel time from Kennedy space center to airport (at best) one hour. As long as there's no road construction/accidents or any other traffic delaying issues.

That means you would have approximately 4-5 hours there (at best)

You can spend a full day there. If you go in knowing that you won’t get to see everything then go for it but have realistic expectations.

We spent 2 days at Kennedy Space Center before cruising on our 7 day Star Wars cruise in February 2019. It was amazing and we had SUCH a great time. We were fresh, so walking all day wasn't an issue (and the cruise thereafter was a nice relaxation). Note that for us (2 adults), it was CHEAPER to buy the annual pass than to purchase 2 single day tickets. Also, if you have the time, check the visitor's center at Kennedy Space Center - we were able to snag tickets to see a SpaceX rocket launch that night (note...do NOT use binoculars for a night launch...I saw spots for about 1/2 hour!! LOL).

We also rented a car, which was really helpful. Not sure how easy it is to get an Uber/Lyft or other transportation.

If you've never been and you're a space nerd like us, it's a GREAT addition to your trip!
