WARNING WARNING SPOILER ALERT
Here's a cut and paste of the RADP newsgroup post:
Woooooohoooooo! I got to ride the new Imagination ride today at 12:45 during
the cast preview. When I went in, I asked what number guest I was, and I was
only the 363rd guest to ride it. Honestly, I wasn't excepting very much, but I
was surprised and delighted by how much I actually liked the new ride! Figment
pops up throughout the whole ride, and One Little Spark is included, but has
new lyrics throughout most of the ride (with the original being sung at the
end). Ok, now to the good stuff! Scroll down to read my full description of it!
It's long and detailed so be forewarned!

Ok, the ride begins in the same load area that JIYI had, and the ride
vehicles haven't changed. You go in and are in front of the old "scanners" but
now, Nigel Channing and Figment explain to you all the things you'll learn
about in their labs (sound, sight, smell, taste and touch). Then you turn and
go into the old train room, but the room is lit and you can see all the
speakers. On your way, you pass an office door labled "Dean Finder"
Then an
animatronic Figment pops out of a box in front of you and talks about how you
should listen with your imagination, and how you could hear your "train of
thought." Then the lights go out and you hear the train and feel the wind, but
it's not as loud, not as long and the wind isn't as strong as in JIYI, which
was a definite improvement (kids may still be scared, but it's not anywhere
near as scary as in JIYI).
Next you go into the sight lab, with an eyechart on the wall and equipment
on tables. When you're asked to read the third line of the chart, figment jumps
in and knocks the letters down (all this is done on film, no animatronics of
any kind). Then he basically just sings a little piece of One Little Spark, but
with the words changed to be about sight. This was the only part of the ride
that I thought was lacking because there wasn't really anything going on. Words
were popping up on the screen and Figments head was bouncing to each word while
he sang. Kinda weak. It was the "and this is where we ran out of money" scene.
Next you ride past the butterfly illusion where the butterfly disappears,
but there's no fish out of water anywhere. Next is the smell lab, which is a
big tube kind of thing that turns out to be a slot machine. Figment jumps from
reel to reel on it saying stuff about your sense of smell, then you hear the
arm of the slot machine pull, and each reel lands on Figment in a skunk suit.
Then a light blast of air scented like skunk hits you.
After that, you pull in front of the door to the taste and touch labs, but
you hear Nigel say that he's afraid to let you in because he doesn't know what
Figment will do next, and that you should go to the open house instead. Then
the animatronic Figment in front of you says "I'll take you to my house" or
something to that effect. The upside down house is next, and it's kind of the
same thing, but everything is "Figmentized." Everything is in blacklight paint,
and actually reminded me a lot of Mr. Toad. There are paintings upside down on
the wall, and a Figment is in every room doing something.
At the end of the ride, you pull back in front of another scanner and you
seen Nigel and Figment again. There's still an explosion at the end (still very
bright, loud and scary) *BUT* there's a reason for it now!!! There's a great
new finale for the ride, but that's all I'm telling you! I have to let
something be a surprise for when you ride it. Lets just say that people who
liked the original ride will really like the ending
The final scene is the hitchhiking Figment animatronic and a projection of
Nigel Channing as the moon. Kinda strange
Looks like he had on a mask that
looked like the moon, and he's singing One Little Spark, and almost looks like
he's going to start laughing at any moment. At the end, you pull back into the
same dark unload that JIYI had, covered in red dots. The lights come on and you
leave through the same exit into Image Works.
Overall I thought it was a very cute ride. It definitely has a sense of
whimsy to it, and it's very colorful and cheerful. And One Little Spark is sung
throughout almost all of the ride, but the words are changed to talk about each
sense they are talking about. It's definitely not the original ride, but
nothing ever will be, and I think that they did a great job with what they had
to work with. I would guess that if this one had been the first replacement for
the original, I doubt people would have complained as much as they did. I'm
sure it will still get complaints because a lot of people will never be happy
with what they put there if it's not the original, but overall, in my opinion,
they did a good job with it.
