Hi Everyone,
My future husband and I are having a disney wedding on December 3rd and embarking on the Disney Wonder the next day for a four day cruise. We really want to dine at Palo one of our nights on the ship but we are not sure which out of the three other restaurants we should omit to fit in Palo. Any suggestions to help us make our decision would be appreciated?

We're planning on a 3-night wonder cruise as part of our honeymoon in December (I think we'll be on the same one, the 4th?).

I'm not sure about Palo, I think I'll let my fiance look at all of the menus and let him pick. I think I'd probably skip Parrot Cay (I think that's what it's called?), but I have 8 months to decide:)

Hi There Bekkiz,
Yup!!! Us too. We are getting married at the pavillion on 12/3 and then we are sailing out on the Wonder on the 4th. It should be a blast! When are you getting married?? Skipping parrot bay was a suggestion made by a friend of mine and I just wanted to get more opinions on which one to skip. I wish we has enough time to try all of the restaurants!!! Are you guys going to where any "disney wedding" hats or anything like that on the cruise??

We're getting married on Nov. 22, but decided travelling over Thanksgiving would be to crowded, so we're spending time with any family that comes out to CA before heading out to Florida the next week.

I'm not sure I can convince Adam to wear anything like the ears, but I may be able to pull off the pins:)

Looking at the menus, all of the restaurants sound so good, we may skip Palo and hope to someday go on another cruise to try it:) Still, you can eat at Parrot Cay for lunch anyway, so that may be a chance to try it as well (we probably won't spend that much time at Nassau)

I did not even think that we could squeeze parrot bay in with lunch in order to experience Palo. My fiance is not big on the "ears" but I am making our hats out of baseball hats (had to compromise) so he is going along with it. He just did not like the groom hat that Disney had. Pins are a great idea also. To see a picture of the pins look at this thread: "looking for creative ways to show we are newlyweds" it has some really great ideas and shows you the bride/groom pins. Well, good luck with your planning and I probably will see you on the ship!!! ~Lisa

I would skip Parrot Cay if I were you. My sister and I went on the cruise in 2000, and did not find the food at any of the restaurants very good, Parrot Cay was our least favorite. I think that Palo would be great for the additional reason of privacy. In the normal restaurants you will be seated at a large table with other families. We sat with an older couple as well as a family of four with two small childeren (even though we requested "adult" seating.) Lunch for us was generally served buffet style in alternating areas of the ship the restaurants were only open for sit down meals with a menu for dinner, otherwise they have a very basic buffet lines for breakfast and lunch. You may also want to consider paying a bit extra for a side trip in the Bahamas (snorkeling or going to the casino). The cost was a bit overpriced, but the port of Nassau is not a really great area -- outlets and some street markets, not really to safe after dark. So you may enjoy a bit of an adult excursion as well as the safety of having your transportation provided.

I think I will take your advice about Parrot Bay and the Bahamas! I heard that Atlantis is beautiful so I thought we would go there while in the Bahamas. Thanks for the advice!!

All three restaurants are nice, but if I had to pick one to skip it would be Parrot Cay. You don't want to skip Annimator's Pallate because of the show. And Triton's is a formal restaurant, so I wouldn't want to skip that.

You should really check out the cruise part of the board. The Parrot Cay menu has changed in the last year. You can find all the menus at
www.castawayclub.com

My plan is to "double dip" but going to dinner (we have early seating) and then going to Palo for a later dinner after the shows for dessert.

Hello there!!

congrats on your upcoming wedding, and you'll have a blast on your honeymoon!! I'm a future bride also honeymooning on the wonder, but we're sailing in Oct. I can say from experience tho that if you want to skip a meal to go to Palo, Parrot Cay would be the best one to skip. I wasn't that impressed w/ the food in that restaurant, everywhere else was pretty good. Also, if you want a little more peace and quiet, request 2nd seating for dining rotation (6:30 or 8:30, the later is more quiet, not as many kids). I believe you can also request a table for 2 for dinner...not positive so don't quote me on that, but as soon as I find out I'll fill you in. If you have any questions feel free to PM me, and I'd definitely check out the cruise forum on these boards...those people know EVERYTHING!!!

Happy sailing!!

We are sailing on the Magic in November for 7 days for our wedding and honeymoon. We will be getting married on Castaway Cay the last day. The restaurants are about the same on each ship. We will be able to get the chance to eat at all the restaurants along with Palos. But I have also heard that Parrot Cay is the one to miss.

We honeymooned on the Wonder. It was amazing!

Oooh, don't skip Palo. It was great! After reading the boards, we decided to skip our Parrot Cay night, and don't regret it at all. We did have breakfast there, so we got to experience Parrot Cay.

As for the ears, DH was totally against wearing them. He was cool with the pins. But once we got the hats (he agreed to wear them to the MK for our CRT breakfast), he loved the attention we got. It was actually his idea to wear them for boarding the ship! hehe.

Congrats on your wedding! It should be fabulous! :D
