Anyone ever have a root canal on a tooth with a crown?

I am having one done next week. This is also my second root canal in five weeks. My dentist is going to try to drill through the crown. Hopefully that will work, otherwise I will be buying another crown! But something has to be done as this tooth really is hurting!!!!

My mom just had one on a tooth with a bridge. They drilled through it and everything went just fine. Good luck.

I had one done through a crown last year. It went really well and I haven't had any problems since then (that was last May).

I have had 2 root canals and BOTH were through relatively new crowns ! BUT, it went fine. No problems nor need for another crown ! Good luck!

you should have no problems. This is done all the time.
They only have to drill a hole big enough for the file to fit through.

a front tooth, too. I went to a root canal specialist, tho, not a regular dentist. It did not hurt, and he just made a small hole in the metal part. Hopefully yours will be as easy.

Ask for pain pills anyway.

You poor thing, Ellen! I've only had one root canal and then the crown was put on. That was bad enough!!!

Nope, but I found out today that I've got one cracked and it will have to have a root canal and crown. And, the root canal doc only takes the full amount up front, then will 'help' file the insurance. Yuck! That's $630.00 up front. Ewwww.

I haven't, but I've been trying to get up the nerve to make an appointment with my dentist because I think I need one on my crown. I'd like to get it done before our Disney trip so I can enjoy my meals down there, but between a full schedule and general apprehension over the whole ordeal, I've been putting it off. I've spent enough time and money at the dentists office this past year to last me a lifetime, and I hate the thought of more of the same.
