Actually, I thought you were referring to VGF2. My bad! I love Aulani, and do own a bunch of points there, but I’m not going to buy there any more. You of course have a good deal, but it comes with 40 years of high dues. I’m sure the math still works, but over time the purchase price kinda disappears in my mind and all I’m left with is the dues!
I thought the same, but the AUL dues are not really that much out of line with the rest of the resorts.

They‘re still high, and I notice it every year compared with my dues for VGF and CCV. I use my Aulani points at Aulani since I’m in LA, but I wouldn’t buy them to stay elsewhere, even if the math worked.
MF are assessed and paid by calendar year, not UY. When buying direct, the purchaser pays prorated dues for the calendar year of the purchase regardless of the UY they’re in. For instance, buying direct in November, buyer would pay 2/12 of 2021 dues (or maybe only 1/12 depending on when in November they signed). 2020 MFs are irrelevant since calendar year 2020 is long over. When buying resale, who pays which year’s dues is negotiable based on who gets the use of a given use year’s points, even though the dues are assessed on a calendar year basis.
