Best way to get to Atlantis' casino?

I'm planning a ship day with my kids while we're in Nassau, but my mom is interested in visiting Atlantis' casino. What's the best (and safest) way for her to travel there alone?

As shown on Google maps, immediately to the left of the cruise terminal is the water taxi to Paradise Island. There will be lots of people taking it and it's a cheap, short scenic ride over to Atlantis across the water. I personally feel safer doing that than taking a taxi where it's just me and the driver in a car alone together.

Then, when she disembarks the water taxi, it's a 10-minute walk to the casino. Again, pretty much everybody on the water taxi is walking to Atlantis too and it's a beautiful area past lots of yachts in the harbor.

Excellent! This map is so helpful and having her take a water taxi with others will help me feel much better about her safety! For clarification, if she's walking to the casino, she does not have to pay for a day pass or other fee? Thank you!!

Taxis are perfectly safe in Nassau. There's a strong taxi union, so all the taxis are licensed. And from the port, the most likely thing would be for her to get into a shared taxi with other passengers that are heading to Atlantis. There's a special $5 or $6 per person fare just for cruisers going to Atlantis in a shared van.

The water taxis/ferries wait to fill up before it departs, so it the trip can be a lot longer than just getting in a cab.

No fee to get into the casino.

Perfect!! Thank you! I assumed that there wouldn't be a fee for the casino, but she's been to a few international casinos that did charge a fee (in Monaco). She almost never wins, but she really enjoys playing.

I second what a PP mentioned about the taxis being shared. On our way to Atlantis, we were in a van with maybe 5 or 6 other people. On the way back, I think we (me and DH) may have been by ourselves, but if so, I think that's just because we left at an unpopular time. I imagine it's not very cost-effective for them to take only one passenger, so they probably wouldn't mind waiting a few minutes for other passengers, if she asked. The taxis seemed very safe, though, and I wouldn't hesitate to ride in one if I was traveling solo (and I generally prefer not to Uber or Lyft by myself). If she is uncomfortable with riding back by herself, she could always take a taxi there with the giant hoard of cruise ship passengers, and then take the water taxi back on her own time.

There are certain areas that require a paid wrist band, including the aquariums, but any place you can spend money (shopping and the casino) are free to enter.

Last year we took a taxi over and the water taxi back. I would definitely recommend the taxi over the water taxi.

Seconding that. The water taxis are DEFINITELY on "island time", meaning "whenever". Yes, she can definitely find a shared ride in front of both the cruise terminal AND Atlantis, so the chart from a previous poster gives you a good idea of price.
And it IS quite a walk from the water taxi pier at Atlantis.
If my goal is to meander a bit and sightsee, and mobility and punctuality are not an issue, the water taxi is a good opportunity. If my goal is to get to Atlantis for some on-site sightseeing and gaming, hands-down the land taxi.
As always, ymmv !

Once you arrive, you can take a taxi or shuttle to the casino. Another option would be to book a package that includes airfare and accommodations at the Atlantis Resort. This can often be a more convenient and cost-effective way to plan your trip.

We just took a van over. Other cruise passengers jumped in and we were off. The driver shared some interesting information and stories as he drove. Also saw some of the town rather than taking a water taxi and seeing more water. Took us right there . no need to walk any distance.

To be honest, I was there only once, so I can't say for sure. But if you want to be sure that the road is reliable you can look here https://fairgocasinovip.com/ exact route. If there is another road, you can write the route in the answer. But I do not understand one thing if you are far from the casino, why go there. You can just play at the same casino but online. I think everyone has access to the Internet, so there should not be any problems.
My best guess: Atmosphere. Like so many things. And not being alone. (Not a casino person, myself).

So many activities are better when you are doing it surrounded by others doing / enjoying the same thing. There’s a camaraderie. Like going to a sporting event. Play. Concert. Part of the human need for community? She’s probably also not an introvert.

And many people enjoy doing their favorite activities when visiting new places. It’s not my favorite place, but I get a kick out of going to McD’s in other countries.

And internet on a cruise ship? She would definitely need some money to cover that. I hate to think how many months of Google Fiber that internet on a 4-night cruise would be worth. On a cruise ship is precisely where I don’t have internet.

The shared taxis are cheap and many won't just take one or two people unless you are willing to pay for a full or nearly full taxi. The ride back costs the same or is cheaper and you usually ride by yourself because not everyone who went is coming back at the same time. I would skip the water taxi as they wait for a PACKED boat before they leave. The cost is the same or about the same but it can take longer. The walk from where the water taxi drops off to the hotel/casino is also further than if you take a shared land taxi.
