Birthday gift instead of free park ticket?

Just wondering if anyone has taken advantage of Disney's latest promotion and taken the gift instead of the free park pass. I know they give you something else when you already have a package that includes your tickets and can't get the free day. I'm curious as to what people have received.

You can get a gift card good at the shops and for activities. The card is equal to a one day admission ticket. I am not sure if the card is good for all shops and if it is good for downtown disney.

Here's the site that tells everyone where the gift card is accepted at each park...hope this helps.

the gift card is equal to one day admission. I'm excited about getting ours! We're going over my daughters birthday and bought a package deal, so she'll be getting a gift card. I called Disney to ask about the gift card, and this was the site they gave me...

I was told that the b-day giftcard cannot be used for dinning. If you plan on using it for this, please make sure that it is accepted.

The free birthday promotion doesn't begin until January 1, 2009. So nobody has been able to participate yet. :)

If you're taking advantage of the package deal where you get the free $200 gift card, then yes, that's a normal Disney Gift Card. :thumbsup2

But the "Birthday Fun Card" that will be given instead of a free ticket isn't the same as a normal Disney Gift Card, and there are different rules for its use. Here's the site that explains it:

f19810 is correct that it can't be used for dining. It's also not accepted at most locations in Downtown Disney. :)
