Can you help me get my mom to MGM?

We are looking at going to MGM this Saturday evening for the lights. My mom will be in town and I would love to take her. She would need to rent a scooter.

Years ago, I would take her up to a drop off point, she would walk in and rent the scooter. Unfortunately, she is at a point where that is far too great of a distance to walk.

I am not sure how much they cost anymore at WDW but I looked at renting one locally and it will be $100. We have to pay for two days since they aren't open on Sunday to return it. I am not sure my mom is willing to pay $100 for a few hours at the park.

Are there other options available? Can I go in, rent a scooter for her and bring it out to the parking lot? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Disney is $45 or more.
My SiL used Randy Mobility several times

( There is a 2 day minimum charge )

A Second continuous week is only $100.00

Standard procedure of WDW is to not let their scooters out of the main gates. Not sure if you can get special permission, but they do not usually let people depart with them, for obvious reasons - they would have to go out and round them up, or people would try to take them home or to other parks.

How about getting her a wheelchair? We've rented them from our local pharmacy, they are easy to transport, and cheaper than renting an ECV.

We asked the CM's if we could drop off my mom at the handicap parking area one year they had no problem with that. I got out with her to push her. They have wheelchairs right there that you can use to get you to the rental area.

Really?? This would be absolutely perfect. I have never noticed them. My DH dropped my DD and her friend off in that same area of Epcot last weekend and didn't notice them. (He did tell the CM that he was just dropping the kids off and that is the area they directed him to, just in case anyone is wondering why he went to that spot).

The wheelchairs out in the parking lot have a tall pole with a flag on it. You have to leave it at the gate, but it's not too far from the rental place. If she can't walk that far, someone could go and rent it and bring it back to the gate.
