Congratulations! I imagine this means you will be going back in the next 12 months.

Unless that's someone else's hairy arm pictured on your TR!

What, an annual passholder?! :hyper: :thumbsup2

We can't wait to hear how that happened!

Poop... you know how it goes.

I always thought you had a hard time dooing that at the border....??

(sorry about the quality. took it through the window.)

I LOVE coyotes! As a kid I grew up with them making a racket at night... to me it's actually very comforting.

They are HUGE! and you are right... quite beautiful!

Well because it's a
saline endorheic alkali
lake, of course!

Well, duh.

Maybe these were something else.

A botanist, I am not.

Those are Oregon Grape- our State flower! They are terrible, but the Native Americans did eat them at one time. I suppose you could in a pinch if you were starving in the wilderness. Or are running from the law because you started and illegal campfire.

Maybe they are just sauntering like classy forest critters.

I had finally got myself all
ready for the evening
and thought, since there was
a fire pit and wood available,
that I would relax with a nice
campfire.

Ahhh, as you should have.

HUGE bucket list item for me. Someday I will get out and do some night photography.

Okay!

<rolls up sleeves..
wait... I'm wearing
a short-sleeved T-shirt...>

While coming home from
a vacation has its moments,
this home-coming is a little
harder to swallow than others.

While I really wasn't ready
to come back to the real world,
the real world was apparently
ready for me.
I came home to find that I've
been scheduled to work
seventeen 8-hour shifts
over the next fifteen days.

Yeah, you read that right.
More shifts than days.
But!
I might get a day off before
starting my next cycle of
five shifts after all that.

We'll see what happens after that.

Speaking of "work"...
Looks like I have my work
cut out for me here on the DIS.
I'll start by getting to your replies
before moving to the plethora
of TRs that I've fallen behind on.

I'll get there... but it might be a bit.
Also hope to put the last update
up for this leg of the journey.

And one last thing...
I think I might take a break from this
TR after the next update and start
on the trip I just came back from
while it's still fresh in my mind.

Can one have a "fresh" mind if
it's perpetually dirty?

Not necessarily speaking of myself
of course.
Wholly rhetorical.

:rolleyes1

Yikes! And you had JUST been sleeping in a flimsy little tent with this guy running around :scared1:

Nah.
He's just a cute doggo.

Ahhh!!!
My leg!!
He's got my leg!!!!
AAAAHHH!!!!

Stunning  I am assuming you had your trip-pod and that's how you got such amazing pictures?

You assume correctly, and...

Thank you! :goodvibes

Makes perfect sense :thumbsup2

Of course.
I felt silly even mentioning it.

Cool! I bet it's a pretty sight to see in the summer!

::yes::

They kind of look like grapes? And you're at a winery, so…..

Not grapes.
Too small.
And now @Steppesister
has identified them. :)

I believe a sternly worded
letter is in order!

Aw, bummer! But you know, Only YOU can prevent forest fires :thumbsup2 (Remember all the Smokey The Bear commercials?)

I'm sorry, but... you forced
me to do this...

The friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds.
Since everyone liked to buy flowers from them, a rival florist across town thought this was unfair.
He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not.

He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him.
So the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close.
Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop.

Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that...

Hugh, and only Hugh, can prevent florist friars.

Thanks! :)

Safe travels!

Thanks! I did!
Sorry we couldn't connect, though.

As others have said, BEAUTIFUL photos! What amazing scenery!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Mmmmmm…. wine and gelato. Yum. :cloud9:

It doesn't get much
better than that. ::yes::

That's too bad about the campfire! Although I don't love that sitting in front of a campfire causes you to smell like a campfire, it is quite relaxing. At least you got to enjoy it for a little while!

And it was perfect!
No wind. Smoke went
straight up, instead of in
your face like it always
does no matter where
you sit.

I have never seen a coyote.
They are not native to Newfoundland but around 10 years ago a hunter shot one, which caused a bit of a stir. They figured a couple came across on ice from the mainland. Their population has grown since and they are now being spotted in urban areas. One was seen just a couple streets over from mine last month. They make me a bit nervous, but it’s a new animal to us.

I hadn't seen one before either.
And there have been reports
about not taking small pets
out on walks after dark in
some areas of our city.

Guess they're population
is growing.

I need to buy stock in
the Acme company.

I would say worth it. Lovely falls. Tough to see the backside of water on that one.

Definitely worth it.
No backside on this one, though.

The scientist in me finds this interesting. The tourist in me disagrees. At least you didn’t go too far out of your way just for that.

Well... I did, but...
It led to other things
which made the detour
a moot point.

Definitely not blueberries. Maybe some kind of currant?
I pick blueberries every summer. They are lower to the ground (my back can attest to that) and are spread out more in clusters of 4-5 berries.

Like I mentioned a couple
posts ago, Liesa figured it out.

I remember picking blueberries.
Long time ago, but I do remember
them being low to the ground...

And I remember being terrified
the whole time since it was
in bear country.

Gelato is awesome. I love the different flavours.

::yes::

I find a campfire to be incredibly relaxing. But fire bans seem to happen more frequently lately. Yes, we do get bans here in the summer, despite it being a bit cooler and generally more rain than out West.

Yeah, lots more now.
I think they used to not ban them
back in the day.

Hence the abundance of forest fires, perhaps.
