Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Sold my mom's house so using that for tuition, and can live on one salary. Hard to get motivated to look for work since they cut off unemployment (only get 6 months by law) and aren't breathing down my neck.

Meh. If you're comfortable,
then get work when you want, if you want.

Keeping my eye on discounts. But everything at this point is way over the top, although we do have left over tickets from a couple old NE tickets.

I actually have some old NE tickets too.
Except the only thing on them is waterpark passes, I think.

I should test one out. They're from 1992 I think.

It'll be different without Rob though, learn to ride myself since Doug doesn't like the crazy rides. We can drive down there, so a plus, but I keep thinking off all I could be doing if we weren't in the car. And the ride back is the worse...

Nothing worse than the ride back.
Try it when it's three days long.

Been to Hershey several times - it is close to home and where I started ramping up my coaster nerve (I finally did Cedar Point in June; your trip report was a great help).

:goodvibes

Hope I don't get stuck!

I'm sure you'll be fine.

Sidewinder is a little boring, but OK. I love Farenheit though! Crowds are supposed to be low this week because kids are back in school, so maybe they were just hot and overworked...

Could be. Let's go with that.

I am going with my friend, she is a little more timid with roller coasters, she would never get on one again if it happened, so I don't think I will mention this to her...

:rolleyes1

Regarding the Wunderbar, I'll take:

d. It was okay. I can take it or leave it

It had a chewier texture than I was expecting, and I am not crazy about the flavor of peanut butter and chocolate.

Sounds about right.
It's not one of my faves.
But it is different, isn't it?

I like caramel, though.

Oh, man. I hope you had a Caramilk bar, then.

The best part about my Canadian candy bar foray was chowing down with DH and DD on a bunch of them (Mr Big was one of them, again, just OK) just after arriving home, and then having the phone ring with my sister asking, "Did you happen to find my candy bars in any of your bags?" I didn't lie. I said, "gee, I don't see them."

:lmao:
Lady, I like your style.

Or, being the horrible guesser that I am, combined with a swiss cheese memory at times, I could guess, and then you could tell me your real plans, and it would still be a surprise for me later when you told me what you did. Win-win!

:rotfl:

As I listen to the entire collection of Disney ride music tonight and DIS away....

:sad2: You're hopelessly entrapped by a mouse.

(Says the guy who just last night
watched Tangled on Netflix.)

Hey! Speak for yourself. I'll adjust my sets whenever I need to.

jawdrop_zps4eyuivqg.gif

:lmao::rotfl:

Great! You comment, I'll write. :)

Don't we make a great team??

It's a mystery! My mum was pretty decent (even moreso!) and I'd never give her away.

We'll never know, then.

Beard: Check!

Sandals: Didn't look

Gauges: Yes!

Creepy look in eyes: Check!

Oh, okay. So.... uh....

"Gauges"????????

So I have a subscription to Touring Plans
and was on it yesterday
making up some personalized plans.
Probably don't really need them,
but it does
a. pass the time.
b. help me figure out what to do when.

And then I do what I want anyway.

Then I noticed a list on the left hand
side of the screen.
It looked like this:
+9-12 months before
+7-8 months before
+4-6 months before... etc.
Most of the dates were already past
so I didn't bother to open them.
Some of the recommendations didn't apply to me.
But.

I clicked on "+2 weeks"
Hmmm... not quite there,
but close enough.
And I saw this:

"Get your automatic Disney room request ready"
What's this? I've already done online check-in.

Well, I'll be darned.
The website will send a fax to your resort
five days before you arrive with your room
request.

I asked for main floor.
I even specified which rooms I want.
Let's see how it works out, shall we?

There's a section in the dashboard on Touring plans where you can fill out a fax template for room requests and the folks at Touring plans will send it over 5 days prior to your arrival

Yup. Found that and filled out the form.
I'm really curious to see if it'll work.

Now I have another question...
and it's over on your TR,
where I just was while you were here!

Great minds think alike! Or, great minds dont sleep like normal people :rotfl2:

To paraphrase Ferris Bueller:
This TR moves pretty fast.
If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile,
you could miss it.

Yes, that's why I took the Ferrari to work today :rotfl:

Well, my car is red......but not a Ferrari. Not even a sports coupe. But Joe and I have considered putting a turbo in! Because, you know, what else do you do with a Suzuki Grand Vitara?

Oh! I'm not knocking Behind the Seeds!
I know of a few people that have done it
and completely enjoyed it.

It's surprisingly cute and fun. And you can't beat the price tag. We did it on the trip with my parents, and for all four of us to like it I count it a big success.

Hmmm.... "going crazy"
Bride to be.... shouldn't you already be driven crazy?

Psh, I passed crazy about 5 years ago. I think the wedding just edges me more towards "complete psychosis"

Wow. You make a strong case.
But... reason #4? What are the other two again?
(Gimme a break. I'm on my second midnight shift.)

1. Me!
2. Krispy Kreme and Britt's donuts
3. Me again....

(Says the guy who just last night
watched Tangled on Netflix.)

Tangled is on Netflix now??? (Says the girl who owns the DVD)

It looked like this:
+9-12 months before

Well at least TouringPlans gives an option for obsessive planners.

Yes, that's why I took the Ferrari to work today :rotfl:

If you're gonna go... go with style.

Well, my car is red......but not a Ferrari.

Well... still.... fairly stylish...

Not even a sports coupe.

But it's mobile, right?

But Joe and I have considered putting a turbo in! Because, you know, what else do you do with a Suzuki Grand Vitara?

Maybe some day.
Right now, though, my trips are just too short
for me to take the time to do it.

Psh, I passed crazy about 5 years ago.

 I thought you might say that.
But I was trying to not push the
"Say it and I will END you" button.

::yes::

You need to make sure you're dividing the duties.
When Ruby and I were planning our wedding,
Ruby was responsible for invites, location, food,
decorations, music.
I was responsible for nodding my head in agreement
to anything and everything she said
and staying the heck out of her way.

Worked pretty well.

I'm still alive.

1. Me!
2. Krispy Kreme and Britt's donuts
3. Me again....

That's three.
I already knew reason #1.
#3... Well, duh. I'm an idiot.
Of course you'd be on the list twice.

And I forgot #2. Need sleep.

Tangled is on Netflix now??? (Says the girl who owns the DVD)

Well it is up here.
And USA and Canadian Netflix
are
not the same.

Well at least TouringPlans gives an option for obsessive planners.

::yes::

Ha. If only you knew. Let's travel back to sometime in 2008, when a late night call took my dad half asleep into work, and while checking that he had his store keys, the Suzuki drifted over and smacked a mailbox, effectively removing the passenger side mirror. So.... we just drove it without that mirror. This year, for Valentine's Day, Joe got me a new mirror. That i proudly had for about two months, until years of not having a mirror got the better off me, and I backed out of the garage too far to the right aaaaaand..........broke the mirror. It's mostly put back together, but we haven't gotten around to sanding down the epoxy we used, so it's covered in tan gook.

But it's mobile, right?

Yes! It does run! And it's completely paid off!

Is it bad that I'm actually considering all this now? My friend's dad put Lambo doors on her Mustang, I'm sure he could do it on mine.

I thought you might say that.
But I was trying to not push the
"Say it and I will END you" button.

It's a fine line with short people too. Best to play it safe.

Tangled is only available in the DVD format in the US. I just checked. :teeth:

Well there ya go.

Darn. I was hoping if it was on Netflix i could finally get my friend to watch it.

Well, I'll be darned.

request.

Isn't that an awesome perk? I've used it twice, once for my DH's trip last Feb. with DD8 and also when my son and I went in June. My DH got the exact room I requested and my son and I were just one or two doors down from our requested room. So worked like a charm for us both times!

Main floor...have you mentioned where you're staying? Or is that top secret info?

Here's hoping you don't have to climb the stairs 8,642 times :rolleyes1

 I'm actually picturing the other side of the equation.
"Harry? Do you know why someone would mail us a side mirror?"

Whoopsie!
Ruby did the same thing a few months ago too.
I briefly considered getting her a hand mirror
so she could use it to see the side mirror.

But my self-preservation streak runs strong,
so I just got it fixed and kept quiet.

That last part... that's the winner.

Is it bad that I'm actually considering all this now? My friend's dad put Lambo doors on her Mustang, I'm sure he could do it on mine.

Cool!

DO IT!!!

I mentioned the self-preservation streak, right?

Move to Canada.
Many of your countrymen are considering it.

I'm hoping I'll have the same luck!

Main floor...have you mentioned where you're staying? Or is that top secret info?

Not really
top secret...
but since I'll probably run a contest,
I'll keep it on the DL for now.

Here's hoping you don't have to climb the stairs 8,642 times :rolleyes1

Precisely why I put in the room request!

And then I do what I want anyway.

I could write a book on that.

I'd title it something like: The ABCs of Trip Reporting. The first 200 pages would be about how I planned everything down to the wire. Then the next 2 pages would be about how all that went out the window and we just flew by the seat of our pants and had a great time.

I asked for main floor.

Did you legs have anything to do with this decision? Perhaps your lungs?

Let's see how it works out, shall we?

OH, yes! Let's!

::yes:: Make plans.
Bend when you need to.
Break when it's convenient.
Have fun.

Actually.... the biggest factor is...
Time.
Out the door and on my way.
Ain't got no time for stairs.

But it would be nice after a long
day not to have to climb.

OH, yes! Let's!

:)
