Canadian Buffoon's Semi-EPIC Vacation - 10/29 - Link to new TR!

of @docsoliday1.
It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.
Way to go, taking one for the team
I remember @docsoliday1 talking about his bacon. I suspect it’s good.

but for a weather VIP pass too.
I notified Disney of what was going on
and by the time we walked out of our room,
about 8:00am, it had stopped raining.
I’m glad they got their act together and put up the weather dome

The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!
I think we can all agree on this one.

I suspect that on occasion,
a CM will just give information
that he thinks might be right,
rather than have to go to the
trouble of actually finding out.
Was that a bus driver you spoke to?

Still makes for an interesting
photo, I suppose.
It’s a good photo and at least you can say you were there and saw them

We bypassed TT and headed straight
for Mission Space.
Our first FP of the day.
And Elle insisted on riding Orange.
Mission Space is not a must do for me, but the couple times I did it, I’ve never done Orange. I’m not great with spinning

he still said she missed the smell
of oranges
That’s the biggest complaint my DD had too
I’m actually thinking of getting her the orange smelling candle from Magic Candle company. I think she would like it. She’ll be 12 by Christmas and I find it’s a tough age for gifts. Too young to just give money but old enough to have grown out of toys

I've only done this ride a few times,
but I don't remember the underside
of this boat in the queue.
I seem to remember that boat always being there. I think I’ve done the Nemo ride every trip

Some things had changed.
I remember how Crush would
go fetch an item that he didn't
understand and ask the kids
about it.
I don’t remember this. I wonder if they change up the show a bit.

A blue whale also makes an
appearance. I don't recall that
happening either.
I’m pretty sure I’ve always seen the blue whale
I’ve never seen Destiny though but last time I saw the show was 2014 so it was before Finding Dory

It involves a roller coaster,
a mine theme and seven
vertically challenged individuals.
Also includes a poor misunderstood
little old lady and some bimbo

with an apple fetish.

Ah thanks! Much clearer now.

"We put him in your car."

:rolleyes1
:rotfl: :rotfl: Wish I had thought of that at the time!

Those are called
"Mickey Ears".
It's a fairly common piece
of headgear worn by Disney

guests.

:rolleyes2

:rotfl::rotfl:I guess my actual question was what kind of Mickey ears they were

What are you thinking?
I know that I'm worried
that they'll be too hot.

The heat and thunderstorms. They're gonna have to close them constantly for lightning in the area I would imagine (like Test Track) which means they wouldn't be able to run half the time and if they don't, what if you're in one in one of those freak Florida thunderstorms:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Well, now you know, yes?

Yup and still grumpy that I couldn't find it!

Phew!
You were busy!
Are you okay?

Do you need to lie down?

I was laying down while reading!

Nope! Not that one, either.

It's gotta be Universal then? You've never been there? I think when we went in 2015, I believe the back of my WDW UOG had a section about UO that I read.

Interesting!
I've never thought of that.
Actually, I've had the opposite reaction.
The last time (at Epcot) when it took
forever to get through, the woman doing
my lane wouldn't say a word... and was
so slow!
The man beside her was chatting away
and was super quick!
I think there were 10 people in front
of both of them and he'd done his 10,

while I was still waiting 4-5 back in her line.

Ugh. It's literally the MOST stressful part of my day in Disney. I guess it doesn't matter if they're talking or not, whichever line I choose will be the slow one.

Epcot has morning
extra magic hours today.
But I didn't feel the need to
quite make rope-drop.
Since I'm the only early riser in my family, I've found (unless I want to go solo) the EMH in the mornings are not on the table. I don't get it...you can sleep ANYWHERE...we're at Disney people!!!

I woke up five minutes before
my alarm time of 7:00am.
Elle wasn't getting up until 7:30am,
so I took the opportunity
to relax on the balcony
One of my favorite things...sitting on the balcony drinking tea while waiting for everyone else to wake up.

while munching on some
delicious bacon, courtesy
of @docsoliday1.
You're welcome and that's better than drinking tea.

It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.

Tragic.
Oh, the sacrifices we make for our kids.

I notified Disney of what was going on
and by the time we walked out of our room,
about 8:00am, it had stopped raining.
That's it...keep 'em honest...considering how much Disney charges for everything, I can only imagine how much the VIP weather pass costs, so make sure they hold up their end.

I had charged my VIP bus card
during the night.
It's about time you finally remembered it AND charged it.

The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!
::yes::
Truth!

We were in (standby) line for TT by 8:36.
Not bad.

IMG_1757_zpsmend5j6n.jpg

We didn't win... but we didn't
come in last in our group either.
I don't think I've ever won for anything other than speed.

To be honest, I hardly ever pay
attention to the numbers.
I'm not there enough to develop
strategies for best car.
Depends on what you consider the best car. I always go for top speed and it sucks for efficiency. The ride is the best, the car design is simply a fun diversion while waiting.

Unfortunately, there was an issue
with the ride photos at that time
so we didn't get one.
That stinks.
You have your face shots from SE, I could send you a photo from TT. I'm sure with your photoshop skills, you could make it happen.

The Blue Angels were scheduled
to do a fly over today and I was stoked!
I've seen a few aerobatic teams,
but never the Blue Angels.
We need to work on that.

Elle wasn't sure what to expect,
but she was still having a good time.

IMG_1761_zpswubsmj4k.jpg
She looks very happy!!

I asked a CM which direction
they'd be traveling, so I'd know
where to be to get a good shot.
You realize asking a CM these types of questions (as with tripods in a camera shop, right @Steppesister ) is a mistake?

and readied myself for
the exact moment when
they'd come roaring over
the ball towards me!!!
Good plan. Bad intel.

I've said this before.
CMs are not allowed to say
"I don't know."
See?

We made our way back
towards TT and while we walked,
a lone Blue Angel F18 did an
overhead break just above us.
No idea what the rest did.
Another thing I wasn't aware of.

I need to get to an airshow.
Next year, sun and fun, Lakeland, FL. If they're here again, make plans.

And Elle insisted on riding Orange.
I told her I would happily puke on her.
She replied "But Dad. They don't take
real astronauts from the Green side."
Wow...didn't realize they took real astronauts from the orange side. Cool, need to look up the application process.

I told her that I was too old to be
an astronaut.
::yes::

She looked at me genuinely surprised
and said. "You are???"

Awww, what did she want? :lmao:

That right there made my day.
That's why you should have kids, folks.
Wait! Didn't you say she was going to be a teacher? Sure sounds like she has a life in politics...she's already got lying down pat.
:duck:

That is cool...happy for you!

We got to The Land shortly after
our FP window for Soarin' opened up
and I made sure to ask for "Center Row, Top".
You have to.
It's the only way to make the ride at least decent now.

she still said she missed the smell
of oranges.
She's definitely not alone.
Not sure who the genius was who thought smelling dirt on the Savanna was BETTER.

The polar bears bug me.
They don't move like that
in real life.
Yeah, even though it's good CGI, it's still CGI and not as good as the previous.
To be honest, I only go on it now if someone I'm with wants to. Otherwise, meh!

Now, in our much more strict
and stringent PC world,
the bikini has changed to...

IMG_1799_zpshrwoltty.jpg
We wants the redhead!!!!!!!!

Ooops, wrong ride.

We wants the redhead's bikini top????
;)

Still, the show was enjoyable
and the kids' reactions were
as fun to see as always.
Best part of that show. I like also how it's interactive.

A blue whale also makes an
appearance. I don't recall that
happening either.

I could be wrong.
The whale has always been there...pretty sure Destiny and Dory were not, but it's been a while for me too.

And I'm totally digging
my Mr. T mohawk.
I pity the fool that messes with pkondz on SE.

In case you didn't see it
last chapter:

DSC07349c_zpsnszo9lgo.jpg

Did you see it
in this chapter?
I confess I missed him in the crowd last time. Everyone loves TFOTLK, even Marvin.

I did see it this time, but I'm a bit puzzled why you'd need to be in the standby line if you are one of the sponsors. I would think that's an automatic FP.

I remember @docsoliday1 talking about his bacon. I suspect it’s good.
Well, it's not my bacon, per se, but I sure love it. Last trip to Atlanta, I brought back 20 lbs. Of course, the folks at work took care of almost 3/4 of that. (Basically brought back for several people besides myself). Next time you come down, I'll make sure you get some so you can see why I recommend it highly (and people I work with want it too).

It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.

Tragic.
Wow and here I thought nothing sad could happen at Disney....

after a leisurely sashay
Hm I wasn't aware that sashays could be leisurely. They seem energetic by nature.

Oh.

I've said this before.
CMs are not allowed to say
"I don't know."
I suspect that on occasion,
a CM will just give information
that he thinks might be right,
rather than have to go to the
trouble of actually finding out.
....oops

I cleaned my face and she rinsed out her clothes
and we headed over to our next FP.
Did you miss the sick bag??

Shout outs either later today or tomorrow.
Midnight shifts kick my butt.
Thought I'd have the energy, but... nope.

But I didn't feel the need to
quite make rope-drop.
Just getting in before the
unwashed (ie, offsite) masses
was good enough for me.

As long as you can lord it over somebody.

It was unfortunate that Elle
didn't eat pork, whereupon
I was forced to consume it
all by myself.

Tragic.

Yes. A real shame. (burp)

I notified Disney of what was going on
and by the time we walked out of our room,
about 8:00am, it had stopped raining.

Of course.

Somehow, I just knew they could do that.

Elle and I were the only passengers.
I presume Disney's way of apologizing
for the previous day's unimaginable
20 and 30 minute waits.

Seems only right. You should still get a credit for the previous day on the cost of the VIP bus pass.

The Epcot bag check is registered with the
Guinness Book of World Records as the
slowest bag check line in the world!

Amen. This is absolutely true.

Always love the concept car on display.

::yes::

To be honest, I hardly ever pay
attention to the numbers.
I'm not there enough to develop
strategies for best car.
I just concentrate on enjoying the ride.
Maybe next time, I'll try to figure it out.

My first time, I tried to come up with the best design I could. I ended up not being great at anything. From then on, we built the car we WANTED to build. Much more fun that way.

Nice shot there. Love the colors.

Still a cool photo, though.

I suspect that on occasion,
a CM will just give information
that he thinks might be right,
rather than have to go to the
trouble of actually finding out.

And now you have actual proof!

And Elle insisted on riding Orange.
I told her I would happily puke on her.
She replied "But Dad. They don't take
real astronauts from the Green side."
I told her that I was too old to be
an astronaut.

Well, yeah. They don't even let you go to space on the Green side. :sad2:

She looked at me genuinely surprised
and said. "You are???"

That right there made my day.
That's why you should have kids, folks.

Awww...

But what if my kids are never that nice to me?

We got to The Land shortly after
our FP window for Soarin' opened up
and I made sure to ask for "Center Row, Top".
You have to.
It's the difference between a good ride
and a horrible ride.

I wish I hadn't learned that the hard way.

Even though it had been ten years
since she was last on Soarin'
(apostrophe trademarked... now
who remembers that???)
she still said she missed the smell
of oranges.
The polar bears bug me.
They don't move like that
in real life.

I miss all of the California stuff. I agree with you--not a fan of the CGI animals, either.

When I was last there, it was
a bikini top.

Now, in our much more strict
and stringent PC world,
the bikini has changed to...

:sad2:

Another change is that Dory
and Destiny (had to look that up)
are now part of the show.
I'm fairly sure that neither were
there in earlier iterations.

Pretty sure they showed up right around the time the sequel was being released in theaters.

Disney understands that in Florida it
must rain. And quite a lot at times.
But they arrange it so as not to disturb
those of us with VIP weather passes.

It's only right and just that they do this.

Time travel you say? How is that possible?
Thank the Phoenicians!

Man, those Phoenicians were busy!

Mini-skirts.
Thank the Phoenicians!

Amen! :worship:

Anyone else ever notice that
the car is plugged in????

:rotfl2::rotfl2:I can't un-see it now.

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Again, I remain impressed with your sponsorship/marketing budget.

Not long after, it began to rain.
Now, I typically pay good money
not only for a transportation VIP pass,
but for a weather VIP pass too.
I notified Disney of what was going on
and by the time we walked out of our room,
about 8:00am, it had stopped raining.

I need to figure out how to get this VIP weather package.

I had charged my VIP bus card
during the night.
I knowingly winked at Elle and...

At 8:07, two minutes after we arrived,
an empty Epcot bus pulled up.

Good thing you charged that!

To be honest, I hardly ever pay
attention to the numbers.
I'm not there enough to develop
strategies for best car.

I like to win, and this one is easy enough to see which car out performs the others.

Still makes for an interesting
photo, I suppose.

It's definitely a pretty good one, but Liesa takes the cake.....

she still said she missed the smell
of oranges.

Come to California! We have the good one all summer!

I've only done this ride a few times,
but I don't remember the underside
of this boat in the queue.

Oh, it's been there. You start off on the beach near the pier, and soon you go under the pier, and into the ocean where all the boats and the pier are above you.

When I was last there, it was
a bikini top.

Now, in our much more strict
and stringent PC world,
the bikini has changed to...

Still crush would be just as curious as to WTH it is? :confused3

A blue whale also makes an
appearance. I don't recall that
happening either.

I could be wrong.

I seem to remember that and it's been a long long time since I've seen the show.

Disney understands that in Florida it
must rain. And quite a lot at times.
But they arrange it so as not to disturb
those of us with VIP weather passes.

Sounds like you're getting your money's worth on this one!

Mini-skirts.
Thank the Phoenicians!

And here I thought it was Austin Powers.

And I'm totally digging
my Mr. T mohawk.
I love the new hair rejuvenators!
Thanks, Phoenicians!

You are sporting quite a trendy little mohawk!

Did you see it
in this chapter?

Yes I did. Yet another division to your "soon to dominate the world" empire.

Way to go, taking one for the team
I am a man among men.
I remember @docsoliday1 talking about his bacon. I suspect it’s good.
You suspect right!
I’m glad they got their act together and put up the weather dome
No dome. This is a personal weather
control system enacted just for me.

I think we can all agree on this one.
:sad2:
Ridiculous line.
Was that a bus driver you spoke to?
I almost said something about that!
Nope. Just a regular ol' CM.
Shoulda asked several, but that's

They stop the boats, but not the busses.
I wonder if they will be similarly insulated?
I mean a car (or bus) has rubber tires...

Maybe these have too?

Can you arrange a private

You realize asking a CM these types of questions (as with tripods in a camera shop, right @Steppesister ) is a mistake?
No one else could be that clueless!

Next year, sun and fun, Lakeland, FL. If they're here again, make plans.
Doubtful...
My spring is booked up
(tentatively) already.

And it doesn't involve Florida.

Only the pukiest need apply.

Best part of that show. I like also how it's interactive.
The interactivity blew me away

I like to keep a low profile.
Keeps the autograph hounds at bay.

Wow and here I thought nothing sad could happen at Disney....
Excuse me?
Did you not just write about
the last day at Disney?
Hm I wasn't aware that sashays could be leisurely. They seem energetic by nature.
Sashays are the epitome of
pedestrian locomotion.

:sad2:
Did you miss the sick bag??
I did. Terribly.
So I bought one,
now I'm not lonely anymore.

As long as you can lord it over somebody.
But of course.
I'm also the type who nods
whenever I hear someone
(in the standby line)
tell their kid "That's only for
the rich people." while I zip

past them in the FP line.
Yes. A real shame. (burp)
:rolleyes1
Somehow, I just knew they could do that.
It's Disney.
They can do anything.
Seems only right. You should still get a credit for the previous day on the cost of the VIP bus pass.
I enquired about that.
Seems because it was my own
fault, I don't get a credit.
Amen. This is absolutely true.

Thanks again.
Still... wish I'd been

Maybe on the other side
of the lagoon.

(But it wasn't open anyway.)
And now you have actual proof!
But none that would hold
up in court allowing me to
score a lifetime pass.
Well, yeah. They don't even let you go to space on the Green side. :sad2:
:sad2:

Just wish they'd filmed it.
Pretty sure they showed up right around the time the sequel was being released in theaters.
No doubt.
It's only right and just that they do this.
Don't they know who I am?!?!?
Man, those Phoenicians were busy!
But did you thank them?
Again, I remain impressed with your sponsorship/marketing budget.
;)

I need to figure out how to get this VIP weather package.
It's available only to the elite. :snooty:

Good thing you charged that!
::yes::
I like to win, and this one is easy enough to see which car out performs the others.
I just have to figure out
how to maximize the score. :)

It's definitely a pretty good one, but Liesa takes the cake.....
<sigh>
Yeah.
I saw her picture and was just...

"Oh well. Mine sucks."
Come to California! We have the good one all summer!
Wish I could!
But my dance card is full this year. :)

Oh, it's been there. You start off on the beach near the pier, and soon you go under the pier, and into the ocean where all the boats and the pier are above you.
Huh!
I never noticed that.
Then again... I don't ride

it very often. :)
Still crush would be just as curious as to WTH it is? :confused3
Oh, sure. No change to Crush.
But the kids' reactions are priceless.

I seem to remember that and it's been a long long time since I've seen the show.
You're not the only one who remembers...
Sounds like you're getting your money's worth on this one!
I should. It wasn't cheap.
And here I thought it was Austin Powers.
You are sporting quite a trendy little mohawk!
Like it?
Makes me look so butch.

Yes I did. Yet another division to your "soon to dominate the world" empire.
;)

Right!
Get up! Get out! Get going!
Exactly...times wasting people and there's Disney stuff to do.

I can see that.
Not a tea drinker though...

Bacon eater.
You are a tea drinker...it must be cold and closer to maple syrup in sweetness, but you do.

Mmmm, bacon. Think I'm going to pull some out of the freezer for tomorrow.

I'm an absolute hero.
You're a legend too

In your own mind.

I think I have? Maybe?
You're talking in the car
and not on the big board?
I've won speed almost every time (on the individual boards on the ride). Won responsiveness a couple times. NEVER won efficiency.

Agreed.
I still want to win...
I just don't know how.
I think for the BIG board at the end of the ride, it's necessary to have a car which is balanced. Some items give speed, but take away efficiency or give responsiveness, but take away capability.

Nah, I'm good.
You'll see...
Waiting...

Yes. Yes we do.
Can you arrange a private
airshow when I come in the fall?
No problem at all.
I have an RC helicopter. Just have to figure out how to attach a smoke generator and we're set.

No one else could be that clueless!
"Is that the thing the camera sits on?"
I still can't believe that...I mean I can, because I trust Liesa, but can't believe someone could be that clueless and get that job.

Doubtful...
My spring is booked up
(tentatively) already.

And it doesn't involve Florida.
You like to drive.
You like airshows.
FL is a long drive.
Ergo, you should take a long drive for the airshow.

Only the pukiest need apply.
Long haired freaky people need not apply.

They should have two lines.
Like a single rider line, but
a poor seat one for those who

don't care if the ride sucks.
So a line for people that expect more from Disney and one for people who are okay with mediocrity.

It's still pretty high on my list...
But I have to be top center.
I guess I've ridden it enough now and since I really miss the oranges and don't care much for the dirt or the CGI, so I'd much rather use a FP on TT.

The interactivity blew me away
when I saw it the first time.
It was the one thing I talked most
about, ten years ago when we first

saw it.
Still one of the things I think is cool. Need to go back again...it's been a while.

Ah! Couldn't remember the big whale.
I remember because PR was about 7 at the time and when the big whale eye popped up, I figured it was going to scare the snot out of her.

I like to keep a low profile.
Keeps the autograph hounds at bay.
Yeah, I've noticed the couple times we've met how the crowds are hounding you.
:duck:

Exactly...times wasting people and there's Disney stuff to do.
And people to get in front of.
You are a tea drinker...it must be cold and closer to maple syrup in sweetness, but you do.
Is that really tea???
Mmmm, bacon. Think I'm going to pull some out of the freezer for tomorrow.
not jealous...

at all...

nope...

You're a legend to

In your own mind.
That's the only place that matters.
I've won speed almost every time (on the individual boards on the ride). Won responsiveness a couple times. NEVER won efficiency.
Who the heck wants to win efficiency???

I know of one person who's done it.

You do!?!?!
I've wanted one for... ever.
But I'm to chicken to spend
that amount of money on
something that I'll almost certainly...
No... Certainly crash and destroy

five seconds after starting it the first time.
I still can't believe that...I mean I can, because I trust Liesa, but can't believe someone could be that clueless and get that job.
That was... amazing.
Not in a good way.

Valid argument. :)
Long haired freaky people need not apply.
I've heard that song too
often lately.
Got tired of hearing it.

::yes::

I can see that.
And yet... I can single rider TT,
but not Soarin'.
Hmmm... might use that Tier I

on neither in the fall.

Was she?

I have never been recognized
(except by people I was going to meet.)

ETA That's not quite true.
Apparently someone saw me in Uni last time.
But they didn't say hi so I didn't experience that.
