Castaway Cay Villas?

Our family spent the best vacation to date on the Disney Magic seven day cruise last November. We loved Castaway Cay, but you couldn't help but notice all of the earth moving equipment and infrastructure work that appeared to be going on. As part of my wild Disney speculation, has anyone heard rumors or know anything about Disney resort (or DVC villas) construction on the island?? The island seems too large to use for just a cruise ship stop. It seems that Disney will be utilizing much more of island in the future......OR......Is this all just wishing on a little caribbean star????

Thoughts and comments?????

Sounds like a great idea! The only problem I see is access!

This would be a highly unlikely scenario. They are still rebuilding portions of CC that were damaged in a hurricane a while back. That included rebuilding the dock area.

The island itself is very remote and I have been told the infestation of bugs after dark makes inhabiting it almost impossible. I think you are more likely to see another DVC resort closer to WDW....

Oh yuck! Don't some CMs stay on the island? Sounds like bug hell!

In addition to the bug problem, there is also no fresh water and even power generation would be a challenge for the hair dryers in the villas! ;)

I read somewhere else that a golf course may be going in. Don't remember which board--have been reading a lot lately considering the cruise.

We were on the hurricane cruise last August which spent two days at Castaway Cay. At night, the Captain sailed a mile back out to sea rather than stay tied up at the CC pier because the skeeters were so bad. The next morning, we re-docked at CC.

When we last took DCL in Feb. I was told that they are building a second dock there to accomodate another ship. Rumor or fact? Who knows?

Why are the bugs so bad only at night ? In my camping experience, bugs were bugs 24/7. Plus, this is a small island, can't Disney find someway to eliminate them ?
