Has anyone recently been to either one in SD? Will be doing 4 days in SD before coming to DL........any reviews?? Looking at studio rooms..thanks

We are big fans of the Catamaran! Both the Catamaran and the Bahia share a boat ride on the bay and the Bahia does not look that bad but we ALWAYS choose to stay at the Catamaran and have been going there for 5 years now. Some people say the rooms are a little run down for the price but they are not horrible. We just love the BEAUTIFUL grounds, and most of all the LOCATION- the quiet beach on the bay is at your footsteps but a short walk to the beach is also convenient just across the street. They have a nice pool but we spent every day at the beach. They have food and drinks sold at the pool area, a nice restraunt on site and close to local places to eat.CATAMARAN VOTE HERE!

We stayed at the Catamaran last August in a studio. We had a bayview and could see the fireworks from Seaworld each night. The rooms are a little run down, the bathroom is very small, and the kitchenette didn't have much in the way of cooking equipment. However, the fridge was great for breakfast items and snacks and drinks. There is a Ralph's grocery store withing walking distance as well as many restaurants. The location is perfect for the beach. The grounds offer a nice respite from the busy surroundings. The area of Pacific Beach is interesting with various types; families, surfers, partying twentysomethings, as well as some homeless on the street. But our family had a great time there. We also went to the Zoo, Balboa Park, Seaworld, La Jolla and a Padres game and each were any easy drive away. The Bahia has a nice location on the bay but the walk to the beach is a lot further.

You can't beat the location of the Catamaran.I agree if you stay in the tower with a bay view you get a great view plus fireworks every night from Sea world. You must eat at world famous, too!It is on the beach Breakfast and lunch is fabulous.

Enjoy!

We've stayed at both resorts, and the Bahia was a little cleaner/newer looking, and was much easier to park at. The Catamaran was a little older but had better restaurants both in the hotel and nearby. When we want to spend our time on Mission Beach we stay at Bahia. If we are going to be visiting area attractions we stay at the Catamaran. Whichever you choose be sure to reserve one evening for the boat - it is a great time!

I love the paradise point resort and spa in the same area. Great place, somehwhat spendy, but expedia often has good rates.

We looked at both of these but eventually went for Humphreys Half Moon In, which was in a lovely, quiet and safe area with good restaurants nearby - check it out as well.
