Chip & Dale aka Tic & Tac

Hi - I was wondering if anyone knows the history behind the names of the two Disney chipmunks in Paris. I ask because I was surprised to see that they were called Tic & Tac at DLP - being from the US I was expecting to see they being called Chip & Dale.

It's just their names in French. Goofy's known as Dingo and Winnie the Pooh is Winnie l'ourson. There's a list somewhere of the characters with their names in French ~ I'll see if I can find it.
