Club 33 Lunch- tell me everything!

Enjoy, Lunch is always a treat as you can see all the details and sights and sounds on the balconies. We have typically done second seating dinner on the trips where we were granted a reservation but have done lunch a couple times. (Staying after park close and getting an escort out through the empty lands is something we love). Can't wait to see your experience. Haven't been to DLR or C33 since October of 2019 so I've been going through major withdrawal. Enjoy this as you will ALWAYS remember it for the rest of your life. It's very magical.

Well… we had a great time! It was super relaxing and a great break from a very long day trip. Food was great, server was great (it didn’t feel ‘natural’ to strike up a convo with him, so we didn’t), cocktails and wine were really excellent. And my cappuccino!

It was such a treat!

sorry the menu posted sideways, I’m not sure why.

I of course texted my friend photos and thanks and her response was “Any time. Literally, just let me know and I will try to get you a reservation.”

So now my question is: we are heading back March 25. I’ll see my friend at a dog show this weekend, and can see if the offer still stands. Food and Wine will be going on during our next day trip.

What do y’all think? Is our best strategy to shoot for a Club 33 dinner and maybe grab some food and wine bites during the day? My thought with that approach is that F&W kiosks might have lines in the evening, and we might not be hungry enough to graze the kiosks if we did a Club 33 lunch. But- I thought the lunch was lovely, it was really a nice space with the brilliant sunshine streaming in through the windows. And the mid day break was really nice. Plus fireworks got cancelled due to winds, and it would be nice to see those. And we have a hour’s drive home at the end of the day. Lots of factors in favor of lunch.

We do have overnight trips planned for next Oct and Dec once the puppy is older and we feel ok boarding her- we are DVC owners at the Grand Californian. I could see trying for the Club 33 dinner then, with no drive ahead of us that evening.

BTW- We are going to repay the Club 33 favors with a night at the Grand. But my friend wants to wait until COVID eases.

PS- Lunch was $140 per person. With drinks and tip- $400 for the two of us. Totally worth it!

Looks like a great time.

We love dinner at the club. About fireworks, it really is not a good view. And if people are dining on the balcony, they will discourage you from going out the doors near them or being on the balcony in the area where people are dining. (It is a small area, and we have had people trip into us, use our chair backs to balance to look for a better view, and one asked my daughter if she could move her chair so she could try and see Fantasmic! better. Shortly after, a manager came out to ask them to give us space.

You will see the larger, higher fireworks but will miss the ones behind the trees, lower levels, and angles that make shapes. A lot of the current fireworks are the videos that goes with the music.

While your server may not have been talkative, if you wanted to know more history, they usually know everything. Out of curiousity, did your servers name start with an S? What dessert did you get? (I love the Toffee cake.) SO many questions!!

Thanks for the follow-up! Glad you had a wonderful time, and pics are lovely. I think you should try dinner in October or December, depending on which holiday decor you prefer to see. Others can weigh in, but my dinners were about 3 hours long, so staying onsite would definitely allow you to take your time and enjoy the experience.

Thank you for sharing OP! The menu looks amazing. I would have such a hard time choosing each course! I would love to hear what you had and what you thought about it!

I can’t remember the servers name! COVID is weird, it almost feels impolite to engage someone too long in conversation. Or maybe that’s just me?

My husband got the toffee cake, it was totally delicious. I got the chocolate mousse like dessert. It was great but the toffee cake was better.

I wasn’t thinking fireworks from Club 33, I can’t imagine that viewing would be good. What I was getting at is: if we did dinner at Club 33, we’d likely miss the fireworks again. But honestly, that great mass of people packed in together for the fireworks viewing during the Omicron surge wasn’t hugely appealing. So we were sad/not sad that the fireworks were cancelled last Friday.

Speaking of Omicron, I got a text from work on the drive home from Disneyland that I’d been exposed to COVID at work 48 hours prior. Someone I worked with closely, he felt sick on Wed but we were working closely together from Mon-Wed. Weirdly one of my first thoughts was for the server at Club 33. No masks once you’re seated, poor server if I had the plague. But Im still feeling fine and have tested negative twice since then, plus have an outstanding test that was just pulled today. Hopefully we all dodged a bullet.

I had the artichoke hearts- fine.
Then the apple salad- fine.
Then the filet mignon- excellent.
Then the chocolate dessert- very good.

Husband had the Halibut branade- excellent
Then the chestnut soup- excellent
Then the filet mignon- excellent
Then the toffee cake- excellent plus

I had a Lady of Singapore cocktail as suggested on this board- very good. And a glass of the wine paring for the filet which was an excellent red blend.

Husband is not a drinker and he had- gasp- two! Throws and Maskers. That was a really excellent cocktail. Rum really shined through.

Im something of a foodie, husband is not. But he made consistently better choices than me. Even though I thought some of my dishes were merely fine, I really enjoyed the meal. To me a meal is not just the food, its the overall package of the meal. Relaxed service, airy calm environment, great drinks, food that is interesting. Definitely Club 33 has all that.

Ahhhhh thank you for the details! Sounds like your husband made out with his choices! Did you share tastes? It sounds like such a lovely experience! I’m so happy that you were able to experience it (and have the opportunity to do so again!).

I hope your tests continue to stay negative. I’m really looking forward to covid being over. Could not come soon enough! 🙏

He didn’t like my appetizer and salad choices, so didn’t try them. I never got around to trying the fish balls, we were talking. I tasted the chestnut soup and his dessert. So good! He is a ranch dressing kind of guy. So I tip my hat to him! He had good instincts for this meal.

BTW- they also served warm rolls with the most delicious butter. Pillowy soft rolls with a tiny bit of chew in the crust. Excellent!

Gah, sounds so good!

For funsies, I would chose the tart, the chestnut soup, the filet and the toffee cake! 😄

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback! I really enjoy seeing the pictures and hearing how you liked everything.

I've only done this once, but when you make a reservation for the last seating of the night, sometimes you can actually leave after everyone has left the park! If you take your time on your meal, you'll finish after park closing. I'm not sure they still do this, but they would walk you out to the gates and let you out with a key. It was really cool to walk down Main St when no one else was there (well, a few CMs, of course). My friend, who is the Club member, recommended I do that.

I may have to try one of those drinks.

I usually would get the fish nuggets (aka Alaskan Halibut), the cheese board (the smoked blue cheese is the only blue cheese I like!!), I love the filet and while I don't love chicken, that chicken polliard is so good, and I love the toffee cake but the chocolate orange thing is also really good.

We love getting last seating and then just relaxing. Getting walked out is fun and you can get some really good pics!

This just sounds so incredibly magical! I am really hoping to be able to do this someday! 😊

Your Husband's selections would have been mine as well. All Sounds delicious

Thanks for the update! How was the merch???

Fine, I guess. We aren’t really schwag types. There were some jackets, women’s purses, totes, a ball cap, some shadow boxes, I can’t remember what else.

I‘d 100% purchase a tiki mug, if one was available. But apparently that’s a summer thing.

Otherwise nothing really tempted us. But its extremely rare for us to buy some physical object in a theme park, so definitely don’t judge the temptingness of the schwag by our actions.

Wow, reading all this makes me wish I knew how to network !!! Would love to go to Club 33.

we are travelling to Disneyland from the U.K. next week for my mum’s 60th birthday - I managed to get us a Lamplighters Reservation!! Lol
