I hope it is ok to ask here...we are so lucky to be invited in to Club 33 for dinner next week! Does anyone have advice or info that might be helpful for a first timer? There are 7 of us, all over 17.

Dress the part. Take in all the ambiance. Take pictures, but don't interfere with other diners meals. Ask your server questions! They love to answer. Bring extra cash for the bling after!!

Dress up. Men don't need sport coats, but slacks and long-sleeved sport/dress shirts are appropriate. And whatever the female equivalent of that is, for women.

A couple:

-Look for Tinkerbell in the Court of Angels
-Definitely go out on the balcony! Whether or not you can see Fantasmic! or the fireworks, it's just wonderfully ambient.
-Check out the restrooms
-Take the new elevator upstairs
-See if the Vulture will talk to you upstairs

I don't know if you're going with a member or not - if you are, you should have access to the new Jazz Club (Salon Nouveau). The Jazz Club has some wonderful Imagineered paintings that change. And Darth Vader is hidden in one of the static portraits by a booth.

The food is terrific; get drinks if you are so inclined. Have a wonderful time!

Thanks everyone! My husband and I are trying to keep it a secret for my parents and our boys until dinner time, but I have told everyone they need to pack one nice outfit. I'll work on getting them dressed up that day, probably telling them dinner is at our favorite Blue Bayou anyway. Dinner is at 8:30 and I just hope we will have plenty of time to take it all in. I am a hobby level photographer, so pictures will be taken, no flash of course. We are definitely setting aside extra cash for souvenirs...this is truly a bucket list opportunity and I want to do it right ;)

You are very lucky to be chosen, we will be in dlr in January, I think that we would all completely flip if we were in your shoes. Enjoy the pixie dust!

I totally agree with all of the above! The CMs there are incredible! They could all tell I was completely geeking out and took me all around pointing all the little details out to me. It was amazing! This was back before the remodel. I took tons of photos and our waiter was amazing. Had the best time and tried to soak it all in! No clue if I'll ever be so lucky again! They even let us stay and watch F! (which some of the view is blocked by trees, but still how cool is that!?!) Have an amazing and incredible time! Come back and tell us all about it!! :goodvibes

Buy the Mickey Ears in the cabinet and ask if the store in DCA next to the Animation Building (I forgot the name) will embroider them for you...

Enjoy!!:goodvibes

Take plenty of pics. There is so much to take in. Little reminder, no pics in the bathrooms these days.

If you are trying to do it as a sort of surprise can you take everyone back to the hotel to change before the meal? If not maybe you can take your clothes to the parks and place them in a locker and change before dinner. Just a though so you can be more comfortable during the day. :)
I agree with getting the ears, I wish they had them when we went but alas, they did not. I was lucky enough to be able to take DD18 for her 16th birthday, we loved the meal, we did not rush, we took our time. Her birthday was on a Sunday so we got to meet Mickey and Pluto, it was the best gift ever. :)
Anyway, geek out on the DL and just enjoy the meal and the time in the Club, it really is an amazing experience!

Tastiest mai tai I've ever had! Have one, if so inclined.

Oh and make sure any adult who will be involved in seeing the bill knows how much it will be. DH had a bit of a misunderstanding of the cost of a one day park ticket, and nearly fell over when he saw the bill. Whoopsie. (thankfully I'm the budget-person and our family's travel agent so it wasn't a surprise to me or our bank account)

Great advice so far, keep it coming! I am hoping to tell my family we are going to Club 33 while a friend is taking a family pic of us in front of the Blue Bayou...should make for a great picture of the surprised faces! We will most definitely take it all in as we are a family of hobby photographers and I'm a scrapbooker, and we will certainly enjoy adult beverages. I have prepared hubby for the cost, plus $ for extra goodies! I am worried it will be over too fast and we will find ourselves back on the street. I am having the hardest time not talking about it to anyone, thank goodness for this board ;)

Go in the bathroom. It is awesome. And steal some towels. My dh who never ever takes anything came out with a pocketful of towels. And when you sign the credit card receipt, keep the pen.

I am very happy for you that you get a chance to go!! I am copying and pasting something I typed up on another forum, but here it the 'gist' of it - (this was in 2008 that I posted this!)

When my husband and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary in April, I had secretly planned an outing at Club 33, a club style restaurant offering fine dining, that Walter Disney himself had initially created and helped to design. Sadly, Walt Disney passed away prior to the opening of the dining establishment.

I knew it was very difficult, if not impossible, to get into Club 33, and knew that my husband had always wanted to dine there. I managed to find someone kind enough to make reservations for us, for our family of 4 for our trip to Disneyland that would take place 7 mos. after our Anniversary.

In my husband's Anniversary card was an email (fake) stating that he would be dining at the Blue Bayou restaurant for a (fake) "Play like a pirate, eat like a pirate" promotion that was supposedly taking place in Disneyland due to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie release, etc. I told him that I would like to renew my Wedding vows to him at the time (not fake, that was real, LOL.) He believed that he would be dining at the Blue Bayou on the Sunday that we would be there, and had always wanted to dine at the Blue Bayou, as well, so he was very pleased. It was so difficult for me to keep the secret from him all those months.

When the day finally arrived, we were standing in front of the big green door with the discreet '33' just beside the door. We were standing nearby, because the Blue Bayou is right next door, and he thought we would soon be going into the Blue Bayou . He looked at the doorway as he saw some people walking into Club 33, and asked me, "Do you wish that were us?" He knows how much I had always wanted to dine there. I said, "Maybe that can be us." I started poking around at the door, nervous as all get-out because I didn't know which buzzer to push (they have another one located lower, for people in wheel chairs.) He thought I was crazy, I think... The whole time, he kept asking me what I was doing, LOL.

I pressed the buzzer at the side of the door, told them our last name, and said 'Party of 4.' I then told him that we had reservations there (one can only be invited by a member of Club 33 to dine there, or actually be a member to dine there, but it costs a lot of money to be a member, and one would have to be on a wait list for many years prior to becoming a member.) Boy, was my husband ever surprised! We entered through the door, and got to go up in the glass lift that Walter Disney had specially built.

Upon arrival at the second floor, we were seated, and had the best dining experience ever. The buffet, the meal, the dessert bar, and even the coffee were so incredibly delicious. Mickey and Pluto arrived and took time to greet our children and they also hammed it up with us as well.

When it was time to renew our wedding vows, I couldn't speak; tears welled up in my eyes, and I started to try to read them, but choked right up and just couldn't go on. I thrust the vows into his hand, and my husband read them. The vows stated...

Disneyland is The Happiest Place on Earth. What could be more fitting than restating my Wedding Vows to you here? I chose to restate my wedding vows to you at Club 33 in Disneyland, which is truly, a once in a lifetime opportunity – Just as you have been for me. My one soul mate is none other than yourself. God was watching us communicate - it was in his plans for us. You have made me the happiest woman in the world by being my husband for the past 15 years. You have helped to bless us with 2 beautiful, precious children, and there is nothing in this world that I want or long for. You make ‘us’ complete. I love you so much, and want to say this to you once again...

I, Jory,
Take you, D.,
To be my husband,
To have and to hold,
From this day forward,
For better, for worse,
For richer, for poorer,
In sickness and in health,
To love and to cherish,
As long as we both shall live.

This Valentine's Day, we are going to create a shadow box of memories of our special trip where we renewed our Wedding Vows at Club 33 in Disneyland. This will be our best Valentine's Day ever! (Happy Valentine's Day, D.! )

Now, here is the thing, you need to reaaaaaaaly read.... PLEASE do not go there without going out onto the balcony - if no one offers, ask if it is possible!! DH was just too overwhelmed to want to 'bother' them for me to ask, even though I said it was definitely an acceptable thing to do.

So even though we went and I am so grateful for that opportunity, I still have 2 things on my bucket list - to go onto the balcony, and to see the Dream Suite. That's it, I don't want for much! :rotfl2:

Have a great time!!! We bought a pen, and the server gave us the pen to keep. We took out chocolates, dinner napkins, and I did create the shadow box.

What a once in a lifetime opportunity - you will love it so much! Congrats, and please post an update for us!!!! :goodvibes

Edited to add: OH!! Re: The secret: Here is something I also posted about trying to keep the secret!

I really enjoyed planning the surprise. I could have just told him about lunch, but I thought that a (fake) email stating the details of the (fake) promotion would be even more believable. Later, he said he had not had one clue that anything was being planned. He honestly thought lunch would take place at the Blue Bayou.

As luck would have it, the Pirates of the Caribbean movie had just been released, and we knew that the release (red carpet) had recently taken place at Disneyland, so the fake 'Play like a pirate, Eat like a pirate' promotion that I told him about worked out really well. I told him that for the cost of lunch, which was around the same price as admission into the gates, we would receive brunch and a Disneyland Parkhopper Day Pass. (This was true.) I was to pick up the Club 33 Disneyland tickets on the morning of the day we were to have brunch, at the booth just prior to the Park entrance gates. Thankfully I was able to get my husband to 'take the kids' while I asked for the tickets at the window, and then I had to hide the tickets (I quickly flashed the front of the tickets to him, but they each said 'Club 33' on the back of them, and as we entered the gates, I made sure to try to hide that from him as well.) I was hoping that the ticket taker at the gates wouldn't say anything about going to Club 33, and thankfully, she didn't.

At one point back at home, my husband told me he would just wear nice shorts and a new T-shirt that day... Club 33 has a dress code, and they can turn you away if the dress code isn't followed, so I had to think quickly, and told him, "Oh, they have a dress code now at the Blue Bayou." I told him that it was because Disney World and Disneyland are 'in competition' with each other, and since Disney World has no dress code for their fancy restaurant, that Disneyland wants to 'one up' them, so they recently implemented a dress code. This was a complete fabrication, but at least I knew if he was dressed up, we wouldn't be turned away at the door, due to a real dress code at Club 33.

The most difficult thing was not saying anything about it for several months prior. I thought I'd go crazy at times, not being able to talk about where we would really be dining with him, but the look on his face when he realized we would actually be able to dine at Club 33 was just SO worth it.

Unless they get them in soon, the pens are just regular pens currently.

My favorite drink of choice is currently a Pimm's Cup. The Hurricane is also great.

And see if you can find the swan in the bathroom...........

Definitely go out on the balcony! The doors may be closed at night, but just ask your waiter about doing this.

Since you have a late reservation, stay as long as you want. If you're there after the park closes, you'll be escorted out to the front gate. It's fun to see the park completely empty at night! You won't be allowed to take pics though because once the park is closed, it's all considered back stage.

Take lots of pics of everything so you'll remember ever single moment.

Oh yes, order the chocolate martini! They're awesome!!:thumbsup2

It depends on your escort. We've only been restricted from going off the "beaten path" ie we can't go to the castle, we have to use the directed path. It is fun to see all the stores closed.

But my daughter did make it over there with the service pup in training...

Enjoy every single moment! You are living a dream that many people wish for. Don't stress about doing everything "right," just enjoy it. :goodvibes (Not actual Club 33 advice as I doubt I'll ever get to go, but solid, I think.) And say hello to the Court of Angels, I miss it a lot.
