Costumes on Halloween cruise?

I will be sailing solo on the Magic at the end of October. It's my first Halloween on the High Seas cruise. I am considering whether or not to bring a simple costume to wear. Those of you who have cruised this year, did you see many people, particularly adults, wear costumes during the cruise, or is it pretty rare? Also, when do people typically wear the costumes? The night of the Halloween deck party? Do people also wear them to dinner that night (like people dress up as pirates for dinner on Pirate Night), or is it really only at the deck party? Do people ever wear them during the day to get costume pics with characters? TIA.

The Magic might be different. On the 9/20 Dream sailing, "Halloween" and "Pirate Night" were the same night, so there was a mix of pirate costumes and Halloween costumes. Lots of adults and families dressed up for both. We had the Mousquerade party on the deck, then a pirate show at dinner. It's all kinds of confusing.

We dress up for all the occasions. On our last Halloween cruise, on costume night, I dressed as Prince Adam to escort my granddaughter who dressed as Bell. We were stopped a lot on the way to dinner for pictures. On that night when we entered the atrium, the piano player started playing "A Tail As Old As Time" from Beauty and the Beast. It was then that I noticed Disney's Bell and of course I had to bow. We shared a short dance, my granddaughter went crazy and hung out with Bell until dinner time. I felt pretty good also because I was the only prince onboard a ship full of Princesses, including my granddaughter.

My sisters and I traveled sans kiddos on the Fantasy (4-day) at the beginning of the month. We dressed as villains on the night designated as Halloween and had a blast! We wore our costumes to dinner and saw other adults dressed as well. My sister was Ursula and was the hit of the night. Make decisions that bring you joy; ignore the self-doubt and fear of what others might think. I would dress up even if it meant I was the only one doing so. Screw those who judge.

Lots of adults dressed up last week on the Dream. My favorite was a guy who showed up to the deck party dressed as Thor from Endgame. It was hilarious. He even let me take his picture with my kid!

We wore our costumes on Halloween during our 10/1 cruise on the Wonder. We put them on before our mixology class and wore them all night.

Edit - Fixed the date

So there is a day of the cruise that they designate as Halloween?

Yes. It used to be night #2 for the 4-night Dream cruises. At least on the 9/20 Dream cruise, it was combined with pirates on night #3. But nobody told the folks making drinks of the day, because those were still featured on night #2.

Same on the recent Wonder cruises. One day has Mickey's Mousquerade party and the Pirate night fireworks.

That's not what happened on the 9/20 cruise, though. We had Mousequerade and then pirate dinner and then fireworks on night #3. Only the Halloween-themed drinks of the day were on night #2.

I was commenting on the merging of mousequerade and fireworks. We have found the drinks of the day to be fairly bad, so we don't pay much attention to them. :) I couldn't say when the Halloween themed drinks were.

Oh, I just misread your previous post. Sorry about that!

My friend and I plan on taking a HOTHS cruise soon and we're just going to wear Halloween Disney T-shirts and Halloween Minnie ears from Etsy. That will be the only day we don't wear skirts with nice tops and/or dresses to dinner. Black pants will go nicely with the T-shirts and Ears.

Do what you feel comfortable with. If you feel like wearing a costume go right ahead and if you feel like doing what my friend and I are doing by all means do it. If you don't want to dress up that's good too. It's all in how you feel that day. For me it's more a space thing in my luggage. I'm 6 feet tall and Pooh sized so my clothes are bigger so a costume would be a problem packing. Don't worry about what other people do. I plan on wearing several Disney T-shirts and Minnie ears during our trip. I've never had Minnie ears so I'm going to indulge and wear them. If people think I'm weird I really don't care. LOL :earboy2: I hope you have a great time. :smickey:
