We are doing our first Western Caribbean cruise in February. We have never been to Cozumel before, and we have decided that, for our first time there, we are going to stick to Cozumel itself and not ferry to the mainland.
We have kids ages 10, 14 and 18 at the time of sailing. I had originally settled on Playa Mia, as it looked clean, safe and fun - a decent replacement for Castaway Cay (which is not a stop on our cruise, unfortunately). But the more I look at PM’s site, the more I get the feeling that this is a really nice but pretty generic water park with absolutely no local flavor to it at all. Like, I could get the exact same experience somewhere on Florida’s Emerald Coast, five hours from my house. Am I wrong on that?
If I’m right, what’s my next-best alternative? I’m not really worried about price so long as the kids can have some physically-active fun, my wife and I can relax with a beach view (ideally with an open bar, buffet and maybe even a private cabana), but I’d also like to use a location that has a little more “Cozumel” to it.
Nachi Cocum looks nice but maybe not as much for the kids to do?
What about Chankanaab? I have no clue.
Please and thank you!
