Hi!

Not sure if anyone over here can answer this question or not, but I thought I would post here first since it is a question relating to disability access.

I'm cruising for the first time in Nov. and heard a lot about Atlantis in Nassau. From what I understand I can take a taxi for $4 one way to get there from where the ship docks. My question is this: Can the taxis accommodate ECVs (2 of them at one time) or is there a place in Nassau that anyone knows of that has handicapped accessible vans and how much would it cost?

Thanks!

Joy

When we went to Atlantis on a Disney Cruise...I don't recall the taxi's having the ablity for an EVC...BUT that could just be the taxi's we used. I'd think they'd have something on the island. Also just so your aware (which you may already be)...it's about $4 per person....and the taxi drivers try and fit as many people in the taxi at one time. Some of them also charge you the toll/fee for going over to Paradise island...which is just a couple bucks.

Atlantis is loads of fun...but keep in mind if your not a hotel/resort guest you have limited acess to what they have to offer. ie...no pool, beach, slide, lagoon acess. You can however roam around the hotel and casino...including the shopping area they have. You can also purchase tickets to go through The Dig (aka aquarium).

Most taxis I have seen (and all that I've been in) in PI/Nassau (having stayed at Atlantis, not taken a cruise) have been vans. So, if you can get your ECVs apart and the taxi driver can lift the pieces into the back luggage space of a van, that would be good.

You may wish to call Atlantis about using an ECV on their property, especially indoors. I don't recall seeing any there.
