Current Youth Activities CM -- Ask me anything!

Is the official Disney CM no longer available to answer these questions?

I realize this was originally posted in 2013 and the CM may very well be onboard a ship right now. I'm just wondering.
Well, she did leave DCL. And wasn't posting for a while. But, recently (like a couple weeks ago), it seems she posted a somewhat negative post about actually working on DCL. Since that post, she hasn't been back.

I looked back, seems she left DCL in Mar 2013:

Hello disboards, I am back home again on vacation and I thank everyone for all the wonderful gifts and trinkets and kind words on board the past few months, it was lovely meeting you all!

I am sad to report that I will not be returning to the company after my vacation for many reasons and many internal changes that resulted in the company losing many valuable CMs, but also for a much happier reason : I got engaged! princess:

For the two of us, life on board the Disney ships isn't quite the best for us now that we're a bit older, so we're closing that chapter of our lives now. Thanks again, hope I helped even a little, and happy sailing!

I have a youth club question. We're doing our first ever cruise in August 2016 (Alaskan cruise on the Wonder). :earsboy:
My girls will be 12 and 16, unfortunately they'd be in different clubs due to their ages. For the Youth Activity Open Houses--can both girls go to Edge or Vibe or even the Oceaneer Lab if there is an open house? Does a parent need to stay with them for the open house?

DD is younger so I didn't pay close attention, but I don't think a parent would be required for Edge and Vibe open house for your girls' ages so they could probably attend those together. At the Club/Lab open house, your 12 yr old may require a parent present because she is still technically in the Club/Lab age for secured programming, but the 16 yr old may be able to accompany her instead of a parent.

There are many other activities available throughout the ship that your girls can do together.

Enjoy your cruise!

Oh ok, thank you! There are so many posts in this thread, I didn't read them all. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my inquiry. :)

Thank you! DH and I would like to do some of the tastings/adult classes...so I'm hoping my girls can find something to do together during those times! DD15 is the one (right now...who knows what she'll be like in 16 months!) that doesn't want to be 'alone' and would prefer to at least be with her sister if she's not with us.

My email's recently become flooded with messages and questions lately, sorry for the lateness of my replies!

I also got a question about whether the food options/eating privileges have improved on board and sadly while occasionally some wonderful managers might escort select CMs to a meal of guest-food, this is what our youth activities CMs on the ships look forward to eating:
(I wish it were a joke, but unfortunately not.)

No one but you is complaining about the fish heads. My family had a Jamaican housekeeper who made fish heads at least every week for about 20 years. She loved it. She would constantly tease me and offer it to me. She knew I didn't like seafood. I never made her feel that she couldn't eat something in front of me. If you don't want a particular food, you don't have to take it. If it was in the cafeteria walk by and take what you want and don't make anyone feel uncomfortable about food that someone else may enjoy.

Ummmm, maybe you missed cmontheseas post?

I simply said to dug that the actual opinion of cmontheseas should not be dismissed by dug's perspective of what her sister felt was acceptable food. And I haven't said that anyone should be made to feel uncomfortable and unable to eat it. Just that seeing that in a buffet would effect my appetite of what is further down the line.
Wow, try to twist words much?
Each to their own, but none of us have had to walk that buffet line so none of us can say cmontheseas is wrong.

She just posted about the food 3 Days Ago..so she is definitely still on the boards.

Is it common for the nursery to fill up on a 4 night cruise? DS will turn 1 during the cruise and we are going on our 1st Disney cruise to celebrate. I haven't pre-scheduled any nursery time. Are there fun activities for a 1 year old who may not be walking at the time of the cruise in the nursery or do they typically just nap in those cribs I saw online? I was planning to just "play it by ear", to decide if I wanted to send him to the nursery at all during our 4 days onboard.

If you might want the nursery during dinner or the evening show, it is recommended to pre-book some time, I think you can do up to 10 hours for a 4 night cruise. More time may be available onboard, particularly non-meal times. They have play room toys and such, and often will do activities with the little ones. Sometimes one if the princesses will stop by for photos. It is not just napping.

Enjoy your cruise!

I never said that cmontheseas was wrong, I said that people like fish heads and shouldn't be made to feel embarrassed that they like their food. You said that it would turn you off if you saw the fish heads. I doubt that the fish heads was the only option at the crew mess. I was on the WBPC last May. One day I went to lunch at Tritons. There was a CM named Ramon who sat next to me at lunch. He was a current CM on the ship and apparently had permission to eat with passengers. He never gave me the impression that the options for the crew was only one thing. You twist words and apparently believe that fish heads is the only food given to the CMs.
