December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

Ok I am going to try again. We originally had called the day before we left to set up for a cab to pick us up to carry us to the airport. We have had friends do this with great success. I called for a minivan cab to accomodate us and our luggage. I also requested it to pick us up at 6:30 for a 9:15 flight. We are only 15 minutes from the airport put I was allowing time for a flat tire or gas stop. It doesnt hurt to be a little early for the airport but hurts if you are late. We were in the driveway waiting and 6:45 comes around and I decide to call the cab company. She had the nerve to tell me just because I call doesnt mean the are going to have one available to send out. I was wanting to blow up but knew I needed to keep my cool. I calmly explained to the lady I had called the day before. She said a pick up was on the way. At 7:00 I recieved a call a cab was on our street and we would be picked up in moments. I look down the street and see a CAR!!!!!! I immediately call the compay back and she says "ohhhhh...now I see you requested a van". She of course has one on the way. William gets on the phone and lets them know if we miss our flight they are going to pay. At 7:20 a van arrives to pick us up. The guy gets out and said "my van cant carry all that luggage". William said "oh yes it can" and raises the back door to the van and starts to load it. The whole time the foriegn guy is saying "my tires are going to pop, I cant do it, My tires are low" William loaded the van, we got in and seatbelted up and my poor devoted husband rode in the floorboard!!!!! The man tested my nerves by going 30 miles an hour in a 50 worried about his tires and everything was fine. He should have been more worried about William since seatbelts are the law in TN. He should have been worried that I was fixing to rip his head off because at this point we were all on pins and needles. We got to the airport, checked in and boarded immediately. That is so not me typically. To top all things we were quoted 18.20 (earlier in the morning I had given William 25.00 to cover the tip too) and when we got there he told us 29.00 and told william his tip was not included. William told him what the office said and he said we owed him 29.00and the NW check in lady said he was trying to rip us off. William paid him the 29.00 and no tip. I was livid and my sister called yellow cab to complain because I wouldnt. She also called to tell me when we were getting off the ship that she would be at the airport to pick us up. All the way home I had to hear I should have let her take us and next time I will.

My most memorable moment was mine and Andreas story. It was just like wow and I knew the rest of my trip was going to be the same enjoyable moment. It was very cool to think of the thousands of people there and we met the first night unplanned!!!!!

My best family moment was the Illuminations cruise while at the parks. If you ever get the opportunity....DO IT!!!!! It was unbelievable. To make it even more special, it was the night of the Shuttle lift off. We have some awesome pictures.

I couldnt say my special moment on the cruise because our whole family loved the whole cruise. While William and I loved our alone time, we found ourselves missing our children. After all, this is a family vacation. We laugh everytime we think of how excited they were every time the came back to the cabin.

Sadly, I went online to check on the disneys adventures for 2008 to check on a London trip and got my heart broken. I had NO idea. It will cost approximately $20,000.00 for the four of us with airfare. So....I will have to keep watching for a better deal. The children said the would settle for another cruise!;)

Shawn - Thank you for the compliment and you had a special family as well.

Ian - I hope you have made it home. The weather is not cooperating with
you.

I meant to tell yall our picture mats and pillowcases turned out great.

Pirates night was great!! MY Captain Jack Sparrow (William) was hot!!! Our costumes were great!! Shutters saw me coming. We got some great photos. Yall know that I am technically challenged but I am going to try to get mine and Andreas picture on the board in the next few days.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since we left for WDW. Time has gone by so fast. We had such a wonderful time-with so many magical memories (especially on the cruise). It's funny, while it was happening it seemed to go by so fast, but now it seemed like we were there forever.

Shari, I have some pics of your family too. PM me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you (it's from the sting ray excursion)

Kristen, I met your DH and Riley in the Lab the first night and probably walked past you a million times but didn't know it was you. As we were getting into our rental van on the street I saw Emilee (I recognized her by her dogtag! She looks so much older than in your signature) and the rest of your family-but thought it would be too weird to scream out of the car window to you! I can't believe that we didn't meet!

Ian, I think I sat behind you on the tram back to the ship on CC (two guys wearing sophisticated mouse shirts-had to be you right?) but my DD2 was having a meltdown because it was nap time and she was sreaming so loud I don't think you could have heard me if I did yell to you. We were sooo busy keeping track of the four kids and all of the activities that I ever did have a chance to call you, sorry.

My most magical memory was meeting Shari

My most magical cruise memory was watching my son and his newly adopted brother (CM Navardo) from the stingray excursion playing the entire day on CC. This CM was incredible. He spent every minute from 10am until 4:30pm with my son building sand castles, doing his job introducing people to the stingrays (with my son on his back) and snorkling one on one with my son to show him that he had nothing to be afraid of. DS didn't want to leave. Navardo even escorted ghim all the way back to the ship and waved to us when we were back on the ship.

Or was my most magical cruise memory the Exotic Rasul??? That was definitely FUN!;) :thumbsup2

Palo was my favorite meal-our server made it such a wonderful experience.

Atlantis was fun-but I wouldn't have paid more than $100 for that experience.

Worst experience (other than getting stranded in Atlanta on our way home)
was at MK when my kids were the first ones in to Tinkerbelle's store in the morning (I didn't tell them why we were there, but we were definitely there first AND I told them to find a CM and ask where Tink was-I thought it would be more magical if they were surprised-I was wrong).
Another little girl came in, I was standing back by the door where she entered while the CM was taking my kids over to wake Tink and she starts shouting "I GET TO WAKE TINK! I GET TO WAKE TINK!" pushes 2 of my kids out of the way and runs to the front with no parent in sight.
The CM hands this little girl the wand and puts her up on the stool and tells my 3 to stand around her and they can watch her. They do, the other mother comes in and says "did you do it, did you beat them?" Nice.
The mother asks my kids to stand out of the way to take her pictures, then says "oh, maybe you should get down and let them take pictures too". Well now the moment is ruined. The father was mortified and kept telling the CM to give the magical moment certificate to our kids because his daughter didn't deserve it (so magical watching the brat wake Tink that he thought we needed a certificate to commemorate it?)
The CM later apologized and told me that she thought they were all my kids (because there was no other parent in sight) and that this was just the spoiled one out of the bunch pushing her big sisters out of the way to get what she wanted. Too late. My kids were sad because they figured out what they missed out on and how rude that little girl was being (I have to admit I was more sad then they were because I had ideas of this magical moment that were totally ruined). The CM let them do it again without the brat-but it was too late, the magic was lost.
That's my rant for the whole trip, everything else was incredible in everyway. We have talked two neighbors into going on the cruise with us in Dec 2008-I haven't decided if we are going to go to WDW on that trip also.

Hi all! The boards can be a little boring sometimes without yall!!! I got my shoreside survival kit from disney today and my cd was broken.
We were so excited to put it in and listen when we noticed it was broken. I was so upset. I am going to call and see if they would send me another one. We are now Castaway club members!:woohoo: Now I know they are calling my name. I am now having to work in Williams office because his secretary has almost completely lost her eyesight. It is Awful for her. It is not so bad for me. I dont have to be tied to the desk. If the children need me or I want to get my nails done, etc........I can! Hey...maybe thats the key....a year end bonus.;) What do yall think? If not I am trying for New York for the macys day parade. My best friend has a dental practice and that is when they have their convention and he can get us rooms on the parade route.

My Survival Kit arrived today too - and the CD was broken! I wonder if there was a bad batch or just poor mail handling??

The funniest part is that they sent cards for me, Emilee and Riley. And one blank one! None for Chris - and Chris is the only one that doesn't want to do another cruise...isn't that the funniest thing ever?? It is like Mickey knows my family and is hinting that I need another person to go with us - not my husband!!

They sent a survival kit, but not to me, which is odd because the booking was under my name.

We got ours too. No broken CD here. :)

Did anyone rebook onboard? We did for the 2/9/08 Western, but I am pretty sure I want to move the dates to the fall for a bit warmer weather. Now, if they just release the rest of the 2008 dates today.

Hey everybody!!! I called to get another one too!! I think it will be a pick me up here and there!

We didnt rebook on board but are hoping to go back in December 2008.

I meant to tell yall that Howard and William came home from hunting talking about a guided hunt in Illinois that would be a great experience thats $3600.00 for the two total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are they crazy? I am sure they fell out of the deer stand and have a major concussion!!!! Christie and I agree.........sure, GO. There is a disney cruise thats 10 or 11 days that would be about the same price for us. It would be a great experience right? The only thing is I cant be away from my DH and DS that long. I couldnt in good conscience go without them. I seriously hope they were pulling my chain. If not we will at they very least take a quick trip during the same time frame to WDW or New York!!!!

HAHA! I have been trying to find our thread for a week now! I accidentally unsubscribed and I couldn't figure out how to locate it with that darn new search engine. I've been searching other places for all of you with no luck.

I was lost and NOW I'M FOUND!

My CD wasn't cracked, but it doesn't work. I'm gonna call tomorrow too. We rebooked a 7 day Western while on board, and on Jan 31st we can transfer the dates... I have DH convinced that the 15 day repositioning will be great...but now I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts. I don't know if 15 days on a ship will be heaven or he!! Anywho, if we don't do the eastbound repositioning (thorough the Panama Canal!!!) then we well definately be doing the Dec 13th 2008 Western... Anybody else want to join us?? We can get a discount rate for 8 or more cabins (and we are already 1/4 of the way there with our family alone!!

Come on, LET'S DO IT!

Trust me, 15 days on a ship is heaven! Too bad that I can't convice Mike to do the Westbound though. I lobbied for that itinerary instead, but he vetoed. He wants to see how a 7-day on Disney is first. :rolleyes1 Baby steps, I guess. Now, we do have two 7-day B2Bs booked for this fall on a different cruiseline, and he is fervently counting down the days to that, so I don't know what his damage is! What's 14 days v. 15 days? Silly, silly man.

We decided that December was just a bit too cold, or we would join you. We are trying first for the 5/3/08 Western, but if it comes in more than a few hundred $$ more expensive than the 10/04/08 Western, we'll be going for that instead, hurricanes be darned!

It seems people around these parts much prefer the Eastern Itinerary, but not us. We hate going to immigration for St. Thomas whether we're getting off the ship or not. We're late sleepers, so it's kinda sucky for us standing in line at 7:30 or 8 am just to show a passport and then go back to bed. We've been to St. Thomas several times and could not care less whether we ever see it again via cruise ship!

We can't wait to see Key West though!

C'mon January 31st! :yay:

Andrea - We may be gain! He said we could go in 2008. DH could care less where it goes!! He is just along for the rest of us. We just cant be gone 10 days again. It was a little much for us business wise. It would be nice to have someone you felt could handle things that long but it just dont work. We are going to have to break our travel up here and there. Our secretary has had to quit because of her sight. I am the new secretary for now. We may keep it that way and save the money. I have been doing it for a month now and it is not so bad. I am not strapped to the desk and DH and I have a little schedule going that we can both work around and not let it affect my time for the school or children. We started back to racing this week so no more relaxing weekends. We are going to travel one week a month racing until October mostly within 5 or 6 hours from here. Howard is so excited and we are excited for him. William told him if he placed in the top 3 in Mississippi that he would take us on a spur of the moment 4 day cruise. I told him Christie would be messing the other little boys karts up on purpose!!!!!!!!! We are all pulling or him. It would be a major accomplishment because he is the youngest of the age group but not farfetched as Howard is very competitive and determined to be the best he can be. I miss talking to all of you. I hope everything is going ok with everyone.

This is the first time I have checked back here in months. Just an update: we booked the 7 day western for Dec 13th, 2008. We are bringing along our neighbors this time.
Shari, I hope you all can join us too, Madison met Christie like twice on the cruise, but she really made an impression on her! She keeps asking if she'll know anyone "like Christie" on this next cruise.

Andrea - I am going to start now on that one!!!! He has already said we could go in 2008, I just havent got him to commit to a 7 day. I need to go put my deposit down now. I hope we get to go. We enjoyed what little time we got to see yall! My children are just completely hooked. They loved it.

Howard is racing a dirt series this year and William told him if he placed in the top three in MS we could go on a three day this year. SO...........everyone is working to help him at the tracks!!!

I am so glad you wrote in, I think about everyone all the time.

Go Howard! What a cool treat for working so hard. I laughed when I read Christie will be sabatoging the other racers! We have signed up a few more friends to go with us, I'm starting to think we might have enough for a group discount.
Someone started a thread for the 2008 cruise. There are only 3 of us right now, here's the link if you want to join us!
